  1. Here's my thoughts. We have a bad offense. If we acquire a top 8-11 catcher, we'd be moving from, what 78 wrC+ to 100 and that would cost either a lot of prospects or 18-22 million To acquire a top ten 2b, we'd move from a 60 wrC+ player to 110 wrC+ for much cheaper. If they really want to win now, kendrick really makes sense. Now, if you admit that this year is impossible to win in, you let sanchez/micah at 2b and flowers at C unless it presents itself.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) Health care is one of the few areas where I just don't know that for-profit entities are the best way to go. Their interests simply run counter to the needs of consumers in too many ways, and the bar for entry of competitors is too high for practical competition. I don't know if this is it as much as it doesn't feature a rational consumer due to the stakes involved.
  3. Dem party is an absolute mess right now. Need new party leadership. Abject failure since Dean left and 08.
  4. I think we've all watched enough sports to know not to extrapolate first month results over the whole year, and enough blackhawks to not give up on them after 1 month. If they are 5+ points behind with a month to go I'll begin to be slightly worried.
  5. That was amazing.
  6. Barely had time to read 2 paragraphs. Anything in it re: consumer protection board
  7. It is amazing to me how awful baseballs national color commentators are. To go from Tim Carver to Harold Reynolds. It is insane for the sport that basically invented thoughtful analysis they have the absolute worse personalities. Right now its NHL EPL NBA NFL MLB
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) So, Vernon Davis was worth a 6th Rounder, and the bears got 6th rounders for Bostic and Allen. I would say Pace did well Yeah, and Khari Lee was a 6th... NFL trades make no sense for value. Basically if someone has a market value contract on them, nobody is going to soak that in plus pay you a premium.
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Someone was saying on the radio it would take two 1's and a 2 to get Thomas. That couldnt be accurate right? The Browns were asking for two #1s, which, these leaks I've always found stupid because that doesn't really mean anything.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) Broncos working on a deal to get Browns LT Joe Thomas This makes a lot of sense for them. They really need to push hard for this year as that defense is tremendous.
  11. If there's a reason to trade Eaton, it's shorting his health.
  12. QUOTE (VAfan @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) I'm for trading Robertson to the Nationals, who are in a win-now mode and really need a closer. Drew Storen has all but ended his stay there with his late season meltdown against the Mets and self-inflicted hand injury. Papelbon choked the FRANCHISE player in the dugout at the end of the year, and is certainly going to be unloaded. By dumping Robertson, the Sox open the closer role for Jones and/or Montas, who will both increase their value as a result. And Robertson himself should bring back something of value, since he's locked up on a contract that Washington can easily handle for the next 3 years. I'd be fine with this. Also fine just standing pat. I feel our bullpen largely underachieved.
  13. I honestly thought he was pretty fine in Arizona, but the stuff he was doing in tennessee. They just did not look right ever.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) 6-44 in his last 50 games according to Bill Simmons. Nuts. He's off on something though, I think it's actually 4-31, and when you go back from there it's pretty decent.

Yeah. Still interesting to watch as part of the show. The pacing and story was terrible, and funny enough it really did not look like it was shot on film.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Caught up on some movies this weekend: John Wick. Highly enjoyable. I heard about a drinking game where you drink every time he shoots someone in the head.....I think you'd die if you played all the way through. Draft Day. Too boring for me. And also incredibly stupid. No franchise, not even the Browns, wait until hours before the draft to do ANY homework on a potential pick. LOL, watched draft day on halloween out of self-hate. So funny how bad it is. it's hilarious how quite obviously the audience there is going to be pretty into football, so no idea why they had such a meathead view of how football operates. Quite honestly, the first trade he received was pretty fair, he should have just taken that and called it a movie.
  17. That is such a shortsighted move.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) To be fiar, Yoda was kind of a looney tune, obviously the reaction to Jar Jar could have been the reason they scrapped that story and added Dooku. It makes sense. Yes, but he was old and didn't look horrendous. Those movies aged horribly. They look awful.
  19. Thanks, good to know. I cannot stress enough how invisible the padres are to me as a franchise. They could be contracted today and I'd not notice a difference next year.
  20. From 1977-2007 there was a 101% increase in employment for workers 65 and older. This same group was especially prone to getting cut in the recession afterward. Does not seem like the thing that would happen with a social institution that is promoting laziness. http://www.bls.gov/spotlight/2008/older_workers/
  21. bmags replied to Balta1701's topic in SLaM
That theory is interesting but if that was the case, that was a horrible character. You can't introduce a loony tune as a crucial bit to your trilogy. The director should have seen what was being created and nipped it in the bud.
  22. I would hate to have Jeff Fisher as a coach.
  23. Thanks for this, makes more sense. In terms of baseball, had no idea bud black was well thought of after the padres run.
