  1. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) lol First all he did was go to scuzzy bars and try to get laid and now all he is is an irresponsible drunk asshole. You sure seem to know a lot about exactly what Kane is thinking and doing. As of now any effect this has had on anyone is the accuser and her familys fault. If you dont like Kane, thats fine. If you think he should drink less, thats fine. But its looking more and more like he didnt do anything criminal in this situation. "lol First all he did was go to scuzzy bars and try to get laid and now all he is is an irresponsible drunk asshole. " No those all go together. People can also be disappointed and angry at Kane, and also acknowledge he may not have done anything criminal. I've not tried to play detective like some here, I'm not interested, but I've said from the beginning that regardless of what happened, Kane has proven himself an asshole and an idiot. Isn't it amazing this stuff only seems to happen to assholes who think it can't happen to them?
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) This chick has had it out for Kane from the get go. Also tweeted that the semen collected could of been from 5 years ago, saying that this girl was "active" at the age of 16. Really embarrassing and disgusting reporting. There is some embarrassing and disgusting reporting here, and I'm not sure you've identified the correct source.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Well considering its not really a "scuzzy" night club and you have no idea what his intentions were for going out Id say Kane has been doing well enough navigating that space for the last 5 years at least. Maybe Kane is an easier target because of his past troubles but as far as this case goes there doesnt appear to be any credibility to the accusations against him so why should he HAVE to change anything? I think everyone would agree it would make his life easier if he toned it down, but its his life and unless something changes in the next few days he hasnt broken any laws. Ah yes, this had no effect at all on the organization he works for, his family, or fiance. Why's everybody just out to get Kane? All he wants to do is be a huge irresponsible drunk asshole.
  4. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Someone making fraudulent claims about someone isnt trouble following them around though. Should he just never leave his house now because trouble might be following him? He hasnt gotten in any trouble in 5 years... There's a lot of room between "never leave your house" to "going to scuzzy buffalo night club to get laid in offseason" It's a space many, many athletes navigate quite easily.
  5. All good advice. Not looking to move all cash into savings, just take some risk on higher returns instead of
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Are you talking up front minimum amounts to invest? Or continued amounts after you've invested in the fund? As an example, the Vanguard 500 has 3k minimum to start, but thereafter you can invest as little as you want. There might be a low minimum, but I've put in as low as $100 at a time and it worked. All that info should be readily available on the fund page. e.g, https://personal.vanguard.com/us/funds/snap...;FundIntExt=INT Thanks, this is perfect. Less concerned with the initial amount, more with the minimum of adding to the account. Was hoping to send in a small amount each pay check so I don't have to "remember".
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) I've had a vanguard total market ETF for 8 or 9 years now. It's paid decent dividends and more than double in value. Thank. How do you pay into it? When you have some extra money or did you try to structure investment?
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) I originally thought it was the former, but everything I'm reading indicates that it's the latter. The extreme right wing no longer has any power over him and he can get a CR passed. It sounds like he fell on his sword to protect the country from a shutdown. For 3 months.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) There is a huge number of products out there that mirror the indexes, depending on what kind of account you are doing, and which specifically you are looking to get into, you have a ton of options. For example, each mutual fund firm offers an SP 500 fund of some sort. There are also many different ETFs which mirror the indexes as well, in the case of the SP500, the biggest and best is the QQQ. The Dow Jones 30 Industrials ETF is the DIA. The ETF's trade like a stock on the open exchanges. For my two cents, if you have a regular old investment account, and are looking to mimic the stock market return, I wouldn't invest in the funds, and instead would invest in the underlying major ETF. The big thing this allows you is the ability to be able to trade into, or out of the stock during any point in the trading day, as opposed to mutual funds who will take your order, but will only execute your trade after the close of trading at a set price. If I am misunderstanding you and this is more of a retirement/IRA account, those things don't matter as much an the typical SP500 fund is probably better as they will allow you to use all of your cash on hand in a purchase and will award you partial shares, versus a stock trade which will only allow you to buy full shares, and the rest of your cash will sit in the account. Thanks! Not a retirement account, just trying to move more of our money out of cash now that we have our house. "For my two cents, if you have a regular old investment account, and are looking to mimic the stock market return, I wouldn't invest in the funds, and instead would invest in the underlying major ETF." This is what I was trying to accomplish. I'll look into this today.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) Might as well go all-in next summer then if Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers can't spend If we do not go over next summer I will be very disappointed.
  11. Hey question for thread. I do not know if I'm asking the write question as I'm searching for the answer, maybe people don't do this. I've been hoping to set up sending a portion of my paycheck monthly into an investment account to just go to an index fund. I currently have a schwab account, doesn't need to be used for this. But do you know if there are typically minimums required on index fund purchases, and if so, what is that listed price called and where is it reported?
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) At least I won't have to hear her stumble through updates today. Classy.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) Interesting law based opinion on the fallout from the last two days. SI NHL ‏@SI_NHL 1h1 hour ago http://SI.com legal analyst Michael McCann on latest Kane case development http://on.si.com/1OydNJ5 Thank you.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) There's a near-zero chance that I'd ever vote for somebody who has never held public office to be President. I think being the CEO of a large business is an especially rotten preparation for knowing how to govern if you haven't been on the other side. I mean, plenty of generals have done this.
  15. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 06:29 PM) Aside from my uneasiness about the Rose lawsuit, I'm really looking forward to this season. And it's unfortunate that tickets are CRAZY expensive. I used to go about once a season, but went twice in '13-14 and three times last season. I've never sat anywhere but the 300 level at the UC and don't see how I could ever sit downstairs, barring winning a contest or something. I'm doing a game in November this year then saving some room in the budget for a playoff game. Also got some pretty good seats for a Bucks-Jazz game in Milwaukee for cheap. I've never been at 100 level either.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) No. There's so much loaded into a criminal countersuit. They would have to prove the woman didn't think she was assaulted and was knowingly fabricating a story. In your reply they are referring to the mother.
  17. I mean...this is Tony's Harding level weird now.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) Apparently Bulls fans are getting sick of not advancing in the playoffs, and seem to think the Mayor isn't going to change things. I have been contacted each of the last 3 days trying to interest me in season tickets. Kind of shocking to me. They had really great attendance when they were the most awful team in NBA history. I guess the sticker price is getting a bit ridiculous. I think Bulls see higher turnover in their season tickets than the other major tickets in town (probably better than the sox though I tried to get them in 2011 and could have right away. Can't do that with Bears/Hawks
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) They need a young QB - that's why I had suggested trading for Zach Mettenberger of the Titans. He has good talent and would be a good option to a college guy. That would be a waste of time. The titans desperately needed a good qb in their franchise, and decided he was not their future.
