2014-2015 NBA thread
Either every great shooter conveniently forgot how to shoot vs. cavs or their defense is amazing right now. I'm guessing the latter. Their injuries have removed their worst defensive players and they have the one offensive player in the planet who can make an offense run with scrubs all around. It's incredible. But remember after 3 games how vulnerable dubs looked against grizz.

2015 MLB Draft Thread - Discussion - DAY THREE
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) Hooper, Sands, Everett, Traver still available. But even if drafted, probably won't sign anyway. If we expected to have money to sign them I'd imagine they'd have done it in 11-14

Chris Sale and "Death by Diversity"
QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) overall, you got a good point, but ref to poor coaching, i buy that, but is that the reason the pitching is not doing as well as expected?? I think the poor defensive fundamentals has played a large part in that.

Chris Sale and "Death by Diversity"
Yeah Q has been better.

Chris Sale and "Death by Diversity"
If Q/smardj join Rodon, I'll be excited to see what this team looks like as it should have. You think in your head it would be difficult to ever beat sox a majority of the time when facing those 4 in a row. The reality has been a pretty pisspoor season from 2/4.

Bryce Montes de Oca
Mizzou baseball manager has a tendency to ride 3 pitchers into the dust, not many else pitch. I'm sure we'll be seeing him a lot in his junior year.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
This is certainly the type of pitching runs we had in mind when we thought of this season.

How could you not be impressed by Rodon

6/9/15 GDT Astros @ Sox
emilio has been absolutely brutal this year. Poor use of him, but still. Nieto performed better with more scarce playing time.

On the bright side, Rodon

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) Since I'm not sure how the draft rules work, can someone clarify for me? If we don't spend all our allotted money, and since we have a lower amount allotted to us because of the loss of our 2nd and 3rd rounder, does that mean we have more money for the international market? Can we throw more money at Martinez? Depends how sox view that savings. Technically we didn't really save any money on our 2nd and 3rd round picks as those were a result of signing Robertson and Cabrera to big $ contracts.

Assuming full slot goes to Fulmer, will be interesting to see what they do.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) 1st Sox pitcher ever to K at least 10 in4 straight starts. 1st player since Randy Johnson in 2001 to K at least 12 in 3 straight starts. 4straight starts Sale has had at least 20 swings and misses. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last pitcher to accomplish that was Randy Johnson, from July 31-Aug. 15, 2002, for the D-backs. 1st pitcher since Johan Santana in 2004 to string together at least four straight starts of 10-plus strikeouts and no more than two walks. Chris Sale joined baseball legend Sandy Koufax as the only pitcher in the modern era with three straight sets of 12 strikeouts and one run allowed or fewer. The prophecy is coming true.

Eddy Julio Martinez
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) After getting Fulmer and not having another pick until the fourth round, I think the Sox have to make a big run at this guy. We save a good chunk of money on the Draft this year from the lack of high picks and are completely bereft of minor league offensive talent. I am not sure there is one guy in the minors that you can comfortably say will be a major leaguer. Martinez would not solve that massive issue, but he would be the only high-end offensive talent in the system that desperately needs one. This is a good point, but depends if leadership views this as savings when the reality is they spent much more by signing expensive major league talent. I really hope we land them, you all are right that there is really way too much smoke if we just expected to offer the allotted amount.
