Eh, you guys are nostalgia whores. The warriors lived on 3 point shooting and getting corner looks, that's the best shot in the game. They would have thrown more bogut and multiple bodies at shaq and done fine. They would have funneled Kobe into jump shots. This was a very good team.

bulls went to 6 games against some pretty sorry teams. I think people don't believe that the cavs were as good defensively as they were, but they were excellent on defense in the playoffs. I think this team would have had a tough time vs. last years spurs who were so hot in the playoffs, but would have whipped any 05-11 team.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Has a manager ever had as big of a leash as f***ing Robin Ventura? Man in San Diego who just was removed. Gonna guess sox down 7-0 in first inning, offense will continue to rival the Phillies for its putridness. We thought we were hanging around .500 until we put it together, it was actually hanging around until the inevitable collapse. One of the worst teams I've ever had the privilege of watching (not worst in record, but certainly worst to watch). 07 when Jerry Owens came up was more fun. I'll never be fooled by shortcuts in offseasons again.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) I misfired on the Cavs pick, but some of you had to be thinking I was spot on when the Cavs took the lead and were in the ballgame at the half. Those who took GS in six were genuises.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Stress on the Knicks part of that post. No part of jacksons plan has screamed overpaying marginal talent to me. His coach pick was bad, but he's done well at getting picks and shedding commitments.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) I'd very much doubt the Lakers will give up the #2 pick for Butler. They'll look a much better destination to play in next off-season when Kobe's contract comes off the books, Randle plays a full season, and it's looking like Okafor becomes the new face of the franchise to build around. I'd be signing nothing but short term deals if I was Kupchak this off-season. Unless you could get a Rondo type for under $10M that is. If I'm Butler also, I probably take the Qualifying Offer. Not saying that's fair to the Bulls, but look at Greg Monroe, do you think he's happy he didn't take a 4/50 offer from Detroit last off-season? He'll probably get something close to the max from the Knicks now. Wow had no idea Monroe was in line to get that money. I thought he was an idiot last year

Butler signing a short contract has nothing to do with wanting to be a movie star. Did Lebron sign a two year deal because he wanted...um, oh yeah it's because a gigantic many many billion dollar tv deal is entering the league in 2016 and basically every free agent that year will get paid.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) i am with you on not wanting death on anyone.... except for my enemies, and i can live with that. but at the cost of the reported value of the soxs????? who could really afford that and want to keep the team in chi or at there present location?? People don't buy sports teams to make money.

This was such a weird and satisfying cup win. Felt very different. -2010 just seemed to be destiny. It just seemed like their year, they had put in the time and growth. That team was loaded, probably more than any other in terms of depth, but obviously our stars are better now. -2013 I appreciated how hard it was to win a cup. The team had battled to two first round exits while they re-tooled, and those playoffs were HARD. Their ability to come from the depths against the Red Wings to me was the real beginning of the hawks I will remember: the ones who you just knew would come back. - 2015 - A decidedly different regular season. Battling through major injuries and sporadic play that seemed to show up in the non cup years. Weirder to me this playoffs was the lack of a big playoff forward just getting in front of the net like buff and bickell. The defense and goaltending ended up great. The last two games I think I did take for granted that the Lightning very rarely could get a shot off without a backcheck on their stick, or player to block in front. When they DID get space you saw how dangerous they were, but man was that rare. I can't really tell the difference between 96-98 bulls, but man have these cups been so different and satisfying in different ways. This is the sports moment you crave as a fan. You not only get to enjoy fantastic hockey, but be fans of it.

I was thinking about the idea of "knowing how truly special this is"... To me, the most unbelievable part to this is that we COULD take winning for granted. That is an amazing feeling.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) Bishop says he has a torn groin. I don't believe that it could be torn and he could still play. Strained maybe NoT sure why you'd want a goalie with a torn groin playing. He did play damn well though. But nobody outplays Crawford in a 7 game series

Man, you look at the banners in the rafters now and you think what a successful franchise. Amazing damn team. This won was won so differently too. 2010 was most surreal, 2013 was most fun, this was just incredible.
