2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) First termed minor arthroscopic surgery, later Noah said it was "more than arthroscopic surgery" but nothing confirmed Crazy. All of us that were so excited about this season look a lot less stupid if they actually had 4th in MVP noah and not "career is over" noah.

2 years is not that long to develop. 6 years is.

Spike Lee movie "Chriraq" polarizes Chicago
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) How many reports have there been about how terrible of an idea it is for taxpayers to fund large portions of sports stadiums? People care much less about a potential movie shooting (if they even know about it at all), then losing a sports team. Many states rolled these back the last 5 years.

Spike Lee movie "Chriraq" polarizes Chicago
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) It's how the political game is played these days. I thought that ended when the reports came out about just how much money michigan (among others) were losing from these with basically 0 material gain.

6/7 games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Trey is having a very nice season. Has brought his K rare down to about 20% while maintaining a double-digit BB rate. The power numbers aren't quite there yet, but that should be expected of a 20 year old. While he may not crack the top 5 next year, he should be firmly entrenched in our top 10 if he can keep up his current performance. I would enjoy if they could not be aggressive with him and let him worry about building up strength than jumping up to AA and work on contact again.

hmm, maybe cavs were just really good on defense and bulls were not tom thibodeau'd on offense.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **
Thought that was a pretty piss poor episode. Worst scene: "We received a threat in the form of my niece's necklace in the mouth of a snake" "That necklace was stolen from me!" *glares* very subtle.

2015 Tennis Thread
Even with Nadal on downswing he has still owned French, that's one major down as unlikely. Murray had his "uk player at wimbledon" moment. Really the only stain on his record as far as I'm concerned was last years US open. Stan just seems to be a good matchup for him. Also, Big 4 can now be retired.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
"Abreu is 15-for-39 with 24 RBIs when hitting with runners in scoring position this season." That is much better than I expected.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) Was thinking of staying up for this one, pretty glad I didn't in the end. Rafa just hasn't looked right all season, I think unfortunately, his body is a shell of what it once was, no-one has punished themselves more over the last 5-7 years. I know he's had a lot of knee issues lately, and really just hasn't gotten into a groove all season long, hence why he was ranked #6 coming into the tournament. I hope we get to see him at his best again, but I have serious question marks whether we ever will again unfortunately. Also, I think Murray is a sneaky chance to beat Djokovic, he's been fantastic on clay this season, and he'll want revenge for the AUS Open Final. Could see this going to 5 sets at least. He's looked down and out before and then rattled off a few majors. I don't get any enjoyment out of watching Murray. Would rather watch Stan. Just no to Ferrar.

Nate Jones to throw
The only pitcher the organization speaks more highly of than Crain is Brad Penny.

2014-2015 NBA thread
My .02 cents: Thibs is very prideful. So is front office. I'm of the opinion that Thibs will be more open in the future, and could have been more open to Org goals of minute and injury management if they were better at dealing with their coaches. But, from my seat, their heavy-handed dealings with Ron Adams and roster made an antagonistic relationship that made Thibs unresponsive to even their good ideas. That's an untenable relationship. If Thibs could have swallowed being treated like crap to implement the good ideas for sake of team, he may have won against Cavs. But I think his next stop, in the right situation, we'll see some surprising changes from him.

Hard for me to point the finger, he clearly wore out his welcome. But Thibs big year would have been 11 when we had a top 5 offense and top 5 defense, then it derailed when Rose blew his knee out. His coaching job in 14? When we were sure they were going to tank (they were awful, awful in late dec/jan), and he pulls out a high point offense with Noah leading the way midway through the season? That was incredible coaching. That team was not good. This was his big year and the team certainly didn't mesh. That's on him. But his lack of title success, we did not have title teams. If he had scott brooks team, i'd like to see what he did. When you look back at those teams, it's like when you look back in 06 when we thought we had a championship team because we signed Ben Wallace. The talent is not there.

Apology to Gordon Beckham
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) When I hated the Gordon Beckham signing it was for three reasons. I do think Gillaspie should only start 1-3 times a week against RHSP with good fastballs until Beckham cools. We can't build a pitching staff on guys who manufacture ground balls and throw Conor Gillaspie and Micah Johnson out there. This has been the most confusing thing to me about Hahn. He has on one hand seemed to focus like a hawk at getting high GB relief pitchers. Makes sense considering the stadium. However, we've consistently downgraded at defense for offense, and to me, not in the good way. A low power, high contact player like Gillaspie would be fine if he wasn't terrible on defense, same with Johnson.
