  1. Is there a search we can do to see how our hitters perform specifically against other teams starters? I have to imagine we are last in league there. So many games through 5 IP without runs.
  2. Man, the Dorne stuff is so bad it seems beyond redemption. I've never seen this show do worse character introduction and development than with the Sand Snakes. That scene in the jail was like something out of a Starz show, not Game of Thrones. And all of the "wink" and side-eye glances in the cell, "oh here she goes again" crap. Andy greenwald made a point that the shooting of this show is so intense, they can't be at every set and basically what they shoot is what they get. I wonder if they got the Dorne stuff and were like "crap, well, we gotta make it work". I wonder if it is just poor writing, or horrible execution by the director. It has been just so campy.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) Don't get to movies very often, but saw Mad Max with the wife this weekend. That was really, really good. I've grown tired of most of the action movie genre the past few years, with most (but not all) just not doing it for me. This one was not only really fantastic in terms of action sequences, but the characters were interesting, tne plot lines had some unique features, and there wasn't that over-reliance on CGI you see so much of now. Fun dialogue too. Only negative I'd say was, at times, I think they tried a little too hard with the weird-world stuff to get that point across, but it wasn't a big deal. I will say this though - I usually love the previews section before the movie. The previews with this movie were universally awful, and I don't think I've seen that before. Jurrasic Park reboot, San Andreas, National Lampoon's Vacation reboot, and Terminator Genesis. I hope that isn't a sign of how the summer movies will go, because if it is, I'd rather watch the slow motion car wreck that is the White Sox. Horrible looking movies. Yeah previews at Mad Max were bad. There was a lot of hype around Jurassic World, but it looks just as contrived as JP2 and JP3. Mad Max was awesome. Maybe one of my favorite movies now. No extraneous plot. Well executed. Just so well executed. The best part is if someone tried to create a world like Mad Max in a new movie, they would spend 20-30 minutes of exposition explaining why everything is what it is. Screw that, just go! It's okay to leave people in the dark on things.
  4. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 26, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) I haven't really seen any of the beat reports talk about how terrible he is. Its all "Bears gambled and lost" which is what happened. They gave him a non gaurenteef contract and told him to stay out ta trouble or he's gone. He didn't, and he is. Yes, good point. These people are so lost in the sports of it all, they can't get out of that mold and report in any way on the humanity of the situation. This is why everything from missing a practice to sexual assault is thrown in the "off the field issues" bucket.
  5. The most annoying thing about this to me is how beat reporters, not really having access to much beyond the accusations, build tons of stories about his redemption. How soon after he was signed did we get 15-20 "McDonald says he's a good guy and people don't know the whole story" articles? How many stories with Fangio praising him? I hate these stories. If you wonder why people are harder on teams signing these guys, it's because right after signing the disgusting sports PR machine goes into overdrive where we are forced to believe that their football play makes them better people, and their teammates love them so they can't be bad. And sports as redemption. The kind of treatment that the victims do not enjoy. Now the same beat writers are talking about how terrible Mcdonald is.
  6. If you are wondering why I stayed: 1) It was an awesome day out and I hadn't been out all year 2) Had they said from the beginning it was a 2 hr delay I would have left There was technically only 5 tee times ahead of us when we arrived. It was really hard to cut our losses. You learn that the discount just aint worth it in golf. Not if you want to do anything else that day. Plus it really wears at you as you wait for 5 minutes to hit every time. I have to find some new courses.
  7. Every time I go to a park district course like Indian Boundary or Joe Lewis and it goes well I get suckered into thinking I can get away with it twice. Saturday at Joe Lewis they ran out of carts and my 10:08 tee time became noon, they packed everyone in right around me so it took 5.5 hrs. Golfing from 9-6 does not make the wife happy. Not worth the $28.
  8. Almost glad it happened so I didn't have to see him on the team. A horrible horrible dog and pony show put on by every level of the team. Edit: I am leaving this up but I feel terrible for writing it. I hope the family of this guy can find safety and peace.
  9. Agreed. His k rate is high but he's walking. I would like him to have 2 years in AA though.
  10. I don't think J4L is wrong but they need to win first. It really would be that lakers team but God their basketball was awful awful awful.
  11. Ah who am I kidding, still the best Sox vid ever
  12. Just watched the Paulie video. My fav memory is still 2010 getting hit in the face and then jacking a 3 run home run the next AB.
  13. Danish has been working out so far
  14. Finally someone has the guts to say it
  15. I probably have complained more than most on this team. It has been really difficult to go to more games than ever in my life and just not really enjoying the experience the way I used to. Really over-the-top statement: watching White Sox baseball really takes the fun out of seeing the best players in the world. But hell, just last year I would have said this team was exciting. April and May were awesome. Most of last season was really fun except for that quite awful July.
  16. I thought and still think Jabari will be like Jannero Pargo, an all offense, no defense shooter that bounces around on 10 day contracts for the most part and ends up with a 10+ year career.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 22, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) bmags you'll probably be the only other one but... I really wanted them to move up for Clarkson in the draft. Perfect backup to Rose and could run in a two guard set with him. Ugh. To be honest, I didn't think Clarkson would be good at all. When we moved to SEC play with him I thought he completely disappeared as people just took away his right hand drives. But, obviously we heard he was going through an intense family situation so that may have been a cause too, just being exhausted. I honestly wanted mcdermott so I can't really complain. There was a preseason game with Gasol, Mirotic, Mcdermott, Snell and Rose out in the game, with the 4 non-rose people spread across the perimeter, the spacing was incredible. Then McDermott shot worse than Rose in the regular season.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) They pretty much have to, he's under contract as a $20 million player the next 2 years. "Not making decisions around Rose" = "mailing it in the next 2 seasons". Yeah, we are talking about a rookie draft, not a free agent class. Whoever we pick is going to be the same price. My point is they should not be thinking "who complements Rose the best?" it's "Who could be a great player for Fred Hoiberg!"
  19. Not sure bulls should be making long-term decisions based off of rose.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 22, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) I supported every Sox transaction and still do. But, sometime when you try and develop a winning formula the math doesn't add up. There is plenty of blame to go around here at this point, but we can still bust out. We did show signs of it. I guess the old baseball axiom is true: good pitching can shut down good hitting every time I think the scary thing is it is hard to imagine where the power will come from. It is hard to grasp just how much lack of power can limit your run scoring potential until you only have like 12 total on this team.
  21. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ May 22, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) Ya I'm not sure why alot of people on picking on Laroche. He's not the problem but he's part of it. The team is just crap offensively. Still second to last in runs, 27 in hits, middle of the pack in average and last in xbh. Tho surprising they are in the top 5 for striking out the least. Abreu is now up to 100 base runners on base when coming to the plate and has still only driven in 16 of them. There must be some sort of curse with the white sox and offense. They seem to try to bring in guys that hit better other places but come in here and just flame out. Still can't seem to produce position players from the system that can produce consistent offensively. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought in mike trout and stopped producing offensively with the sox. There is excellent stuff in this post, thanks for pulling that together. "Abreu is now up to 100 base runners on base when coming to the plate and has still only driven in 16 of them." This has certainly felt like the case, glad to see it wasn't just a hunch. "middle of the pack in average and last in xbh" This has killed me. It's hard to have multiple hits in an inning. It's harder to score multiple runs in an inning when your multiple hits are all singles. IMO their lack of power doesn't just show in the lack of "bases clearing doubles". It's when we start off an inning with 2 singles and 1st and 3rd, just how many end up with not a single batter who can lift the ball in for at least a sac fly. 3 things will happen: 1) K (most likely) 2) GIDP (2nd most likely) 3) Fielders choice, runner inexplicably does not score 4) Something good 5) wild pitch 6) walk
  22. I actually didn't count right. it has been more innings.
  23. At game. 35 innings in person. 2 runs scored
