Opening Day Grades: Filler until Wednesday
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) Other than getting picked off, I thought he handled himself pretty well in the way of composure. He got taken out at 2B by Gordon and didn't try to make what would have almost assuredly been an errant throw and when he botched a 4-6-3 double play ball to his glove side he didn't try to beat Cain running to 2B, he took the sure out at 1B. What we did see was a lack of familiarity between him and Alexei and as advertised, Micah doesn't have the softest hands. It's still just one game. What was everyone's take on that ball that got through Micah and Alexei. I wasn't really sure who to blame there. I think even if Micah caught it, he wouldn't have gotten out. That inning featured many extraordinary hits, placed and paced to make it difficult. That said, even if Alexei should have communicated more, Micah has to catch that.

Sox home opener is a sell out
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) After yesterday it looks like even the scout seats are being dumped for pennies Scout seats on stub hub selling for $500 a piece. I think we have different definitions of pennies.

Chicago Mayoral Race Predictions
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 05:23 AM) I say at least 60/40 Rahm. I think people are realizing that while Rahm has his issues, Garcia is a man without a plan. I cannot trust someone who says "just elect me and then I will figure things out." Rahm may be an asshole, arrogant and all that, but I think he has Chicago trending in the right direction. I agree. I mostly wanted run-off to show how weak Rahm is. Chuy is just not a good candidate. His success is almost entirely due to anti-rahm sentiment. Now that people know the mayoral seat is winnable, I expect a better race next time. But regardless, the next 3-6 years in Chicago are going to be painful. I wish we'd just get it out of the way while economy is somewhat chugging along.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) City just lost to freakin' Crystal Palace. They've now sunk to 4th and are at risk of losing a guaranteed spot in the Champions League round of 32. Palace has been really playing well since Pardew took over. Still a surprise, but not as bad as if they played in December.

Opening Day Grades: Filler until Wednesday
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) My concern with the team isn't about one game. It's about how they looked late in spring training-- which wasn't good. Now does that mean anything either? No, but with every team in baseball playing 8 of their first 10 series in the division, nobody can afford to suck the first 30-35 games. Hopefully they win a game in KC, and come home and slaughter the Twins. And then when Sale takes the mound on Sunday, this season will get off and running. I do agree with this. They certainly seemed to tail off the last 2 weeks of spring training. Our pitching continues to leave ST with no control.

Opening Day Grades: Filler until Wednesday
It's funny, I wonder how different people would feel if we won 4-3 on OD and lost 10-1 in similar fashion in Game 2.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) That won't happen. I say they win game 2 on Wednesday and then Danks gets destroyed on Thursday. Mid-season form.

Probably good we learned what we had with Drabek early was possible. We had bullpen decisions to make, now we get to see them.

if Sale was here, we would have had our classic 1-0 sale victory and all would have been fine.

i guess you can see how hard it is to beat a team that takes away baserunners vs. one that routinely gives em up.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) If KC is getting all the luck (duck snorts, etc.) already, theyre gonna have another nice season. Helps that they don't do stupid things like miss cutoff men all the time, and can run the basepaths.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) I'm at work wtf happened ont he double play? would have been hard to complete. throw by samardjiza was away from 2b, hard runner slid into johnson. Main issue was horrible throw to abreu (or catch) on a double by perez.
