  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) How big is your grill? Just a weber. Plus chairs/tables. It's my first opening day, want to do more than my normal routine of drinking a tallboy on the curb next to someone's pickup truck.
  2. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) As someone who is coming from 180 miles away and doesn't know the city well, would it be wise for me to purchase parking in advance? I've been to plenty of games but usually not ones that will be as packed as this. If I don't pay for a pass in advance how early would be recommended to arrive to ensure parking in the Sox lots? I remember when Frank Thomas had his number retired we ended up having to park a long ways from the stadium and take a shuttle. I'd rather not have to do that again. Sorry, didn't mean to freak you out. You will definitely find parking, sox usually have 2 big lots they rarely even use on games. I just was hoping to tailgate closer to the stadium.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) Take the train. I am taking the train, however, grills are difficult to bring on the CTA.
  4. We did not get a parking pass, hopefully we are not in the lot 2 miles away.
  5. Were contract details provided for M. Foster deal?
  6. The injury articles the last two days have been great.
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) He's interesting, because I hear more talk about him as a RT or a guard than a LT. From the looks of it, I don't see why he can't play LT, but it's just kinda odd seeing these guys projecting him as a RT/G. Considering everything happening this year I don't see why they don't try Long at LT. edit: I wrote this before your edit.
  8. Why is the media so invested in having Rodon up right away?
  9. What's in a name, GoSox? Also would allow Long to move over.
  10. For the young kids, this is steve carlton: http://media.giphy.com/media/pa37AAGzKXoek/giphy.gif /green
  11. it brings "energy" to the soreness... well cool. That's the type of science you can rely on.
  12. This sounds like b.s. https://www.fanduel.com/insider/2015/03/26/...have-in-common/
  13. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 05:16 PM) That is bizarre because Hahn specifically said it is not an oblique during yesterdays call. Right - let me clarify, every source I read from that conference call took down that it was specifically not an oblique.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) That's what Rob reported, that it wasn't an oblique but some other "side thing". Pretty sure Jim at SSS took down the same info.
  15. Someone mentioned Hahn specifically said it wasn't an oblique, I had thought.
  16. I think we have different definitions of cool.
  17. Jeeze, you guys need to chill out. The only thing I'm upset about is the continued marginalization of Q.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Guys, remember, the Bears don't need to restructure his contract, they have the right to convert money to a bonus at any time if they choose to do so. They already did so they could sign Allen before Cutler even played a game under that contract. This is why these comments are incredibly confusing.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) I never tried to explain the bruises on his fiancee's neck. I don't care who they sign. I've always said this. I compartmentalize things like this. I want to be entertained on Sunday. I don't really care what these guys do on their time. The majority of people have jumped to the conclusion that he's guilty already though when he may not be. From what I read, there is no case. Especially if the defense attorney has the surveillance video that he claims to have. I can't speak on the domestic assault case. Charges weren't filed and that doesn't mean he's innocent but should the man never be able to work again? I think he should be able to work, just why should he be able to work in the NFL?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) White Sox are valued at $975 million (up from $695m last year), had revenues of $227 million, and a profit of $31.9 million in 2014. Revenues were actually up $17 million in 2014, from $210m in 2013. Reading between the lines, if you take out the new $25 million from MLB's TV contract, revenues were down again last year. Using the numbers provided, it also means the White Sox cut expenses from about $213 million in 2013, to about $195 million in 2014, accounting for a small majority of the profits from 2014. (~56%). Other interesting notes is that on top of attendance being down, they also had the 3rd lowest TV ratings in all of baseball. http://www.forbes.com/teams/chicago-white-sox/ Looks like Forbes is trying to adjust after being off so miserably the last few sales.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) I actually was really down on McDonald but from what I have read, his girlfriend beat him up and he basically put his hands on her to remove her from him. He supposedly did not strike her or anything of the sort, rather removed her from him and given his size vs. hers it left some minor bruising. It doesn't sound as if he struck her. In fact, I thought I had heard something about she had hit him or pointed a gun at him. Not saying the guy is a saint or anything but it appears that most people close to the investigation do not believe he did it. Hub had a good article referencing a close contact he had in the Niners organization who vouched for Ray and said he did not believe the allegations were true. You know, I have a hard time giving benefit of the doubt here, when the person he called was the director of security who called an off-duty cop, who arrived before the police. Maybe that's what happened...but it certainly smells like b.s. to me.
  22. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) The narrative on Hawkins has always been that he expected to just breeze into AA and the Sox aggressive promotions certainly didn't do anything to disabuse him of that notion. When he struggled the scuttlebutt at the time was yea, "he was humbled" so it makes sense. And props for actually using the word properly and not Lebron James style. But save me some time: why exactly did they keep Hawkins in spring camp so long? Just based on his performance or did they mention something else? They want to keep hawkins in camp with Steverson because they have a great relationship, and they are rewarding him for his great play.
  23. Yeah, luckily he's just a guy that left visible bruises on his pregnant girlfriend.
