QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 01:00 AM) Bulls picks really aren't valuable going forward. Maybe the Sacramento pick if it breaks right. And even then, the Lakers aren't exactly a draft savvy organization Draft picks are always valuable.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 12:56 AM) The worst part is everyone knew he would be amnestied, so honestly why would the lakers sign and trade Pau for the contract, expiring or not? They waited him out and got him for peanuts To get picks.

I'm guessing Jake meant Carlos getting a bigger claim means bulls would have benefited? Otherwise, Carlos could have ended up with more had he gone through waivers.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 08:32 PM) Deal should be done already if so. If I am Minnesota I would take Wiggins, Waiters, Bennett, Miami's #1 next year and another 1st rounder for Love in a heartbeat. It won't require that much if they include wiggins.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 08:29 PM) Umm, Varejao is a very good defensive player and terrific rebounder when healthy. The problem is he isn't healthy near enough. Have you watched him recently? That man has broke down. I'm not sure you could consider him healthy even when he plays. I haven't seen him look good since the start of the 2012 season where he had a great november and then gone.
-
No doubt. Irving - worst defensive pg not named Felton Waiters - Horrible James - Top 5 defender in league Love - Bad bad bad Verajao - never healthy and sucks James's offensive numbers may decline with how much he'll need to cover on D.

I was at the game vs. seattle. Pretty sure we won 3-2 behind a 3 run alex rios homer and stellar Dylan pitching. Not many guys pitch in the bigs, he had so little talent, and made it. Tried his best. Tip my cap.

Just saw a tweet that cavs willing to include Wiggins. So long "wide open east", you were a fun 1 week.

That's right, I forgot which office puts together FRED

Fred did clear a player to play who had a broken leg and nearly killed Luol Deng. He's a hell of a trainer.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) Really, his various injuries are going to be permanent? Or does he mean just playing through injuries in general? He said he'll have to learn to play with his turf toe and good ole Fred Tedeschi said it may never improve.

The bulk of defense is still going to fall on Butler, and those injuries he said he may have to play with the rest of his career, so I'm not banking on too much here.

2014-2015 NCAA football thread

Well, whatever Oklahoma does, they certainly deserve the "winning at all costs" award. -
I think key to the season after Rose is Butler. It's a contract year. I think everyone assumes 37% shooting Jimmy Butler is the real Jimmy Butler, but if he reverts back to the year before, shooting 38% from 3 and 45% overall, that's a huge huge help. His shot has always been so flat thought inconsistency seems likely.

Ohh, it's a Sergio Santos situation. Makes more sense.

Top ten farm system here we come!

Atlanta too.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) I now wish we didn't trade Deng in a salary dump last year. We feel we have a scary roster with plenty of depth and length right now, had we not trade Deng, we could have still made all the moves we made, and resign him with the Bird rights, and still stay under the tax apron, which frankly would have been a greater addition than anyone we can get in the FA market right now. In that scenario, we would have had the repeat offender MLE, which Gasol would not have accepted, I'm guessing mirotic may have been addition. Rose-HInrich Butler-Snell Deng-Dunleavy-Mcdermott Taj-Mirotic Noah-Greg SMith

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 05:43 PM) All of the Pacers blow-up happened after they dumped their leader too (Granger) and replaced him with Granger. seems like a lateral move

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 05:40 AM) I'm going to say.... .270 AVG, 28 HR, 104 RBI, 3.2 WAR And because every seems to care, I will say 165 Ks, which would put him somewhere around like 23-25% K-rate? Just to put these predictions in to perspective, here is where those would rank last year among 1B..... .270 AVG (13th) 28 HR (8th) 104 RBI (5th) 3.2 WAR (8th) 23-25% K rate (19th) That would pretty much make him a fringe top-10 1B next year, and his best OFFENSIVE comparison would have been Prince Fielder. Now hopefully he plays better defense than Prince, so he will have a WAR higher than Prince's 2.2, and more like Eric Hosmer's 3.1. I'd take that in a rookie season 8 days of the week. I remember reading this and thinking it was right on. Tempered my expectations, this is realistic, it's not overly cynical, this is perfect. I wish right then future bmags could have appeared and told me he'd have hit more home runs than that by the all star break.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) There are probably some scenarios where in an ideal world you could have gotten Lance, Hinrich, and Gasol (while leaving Mirotic over for one more year). That wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world either. This is assuming you could have convinced Gasol to come to Chicago for the MLE, but I presume there was a pretty good chance of that (since he signed for just slightly over the MLE). That would have been great, but looking at how bulls offseason panned out I find it a reach to assume that actually could have happened. My assumptions are much more realistic.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Charlotte is much better than say the Knicks. I think Charlotte finishes with the 6-8 seed. Charlotte is very interesting now. As dumb as Jordan was for a couple years, they were a rigged lottery from having Anthony Davis. They instead got Michael KG, which, bad pick, but switch those two and people are terrified.
