Totally agree, 3-4 home runs last night advanced? That said, I'm glad he got some rest and loved watching him interact with Cespedes. That has to be so amazing for those two to look around and see how far they've come.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) The team got a lot better after Deng left last season. It may be coincidental, but after he was traded they made their little run that got them into the middle seed. Everything else here is just looking for problems that arent there. Snell contributed a lot more than Butler did in his first season. And I dont see Mirotic as a regular rookie, i see him in the Asik mold. Thibs got Asik in his regular rotation rather quickly because Omer was used to the grind of a professional season. Thanks, my thoughts exactly. Mirotic is 23 and has played oversees for 5 years in the best league in Europe on one of the best teams in Europe. I think his transition will be much faster than usual, especially if these reports on his help defense and effort are true. And likely that Gasol as a backup for Noah over Nazr is going to be at least =. Nasr was just a body, but we'll all never forget how hilarious it was when he pushed lebron and he flew back 15 feet. I love you Nasr, that was awesome.

Am I crazy? I don't see the forum breadcrumbs in chrome or on my phone anymore. Kind of annoying to navigate now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) I'd say "surprisingly healthy" for him, especially given the minutes he played. Can you at least get my point though...Noah turns 30 this season. He had his best season last year at age 28/29, right when people are supposed to have their best seasons. It shouldn't surprise us all that much if at the end of his career that does wind up being his best season, whether it's because of injury or just performance taking a step back. So if the question was asked "give a reason why the Bulls defense might take a step back this year" I'd have that at the top of my list. That could be offset, of course, if Mirotic and some of the other guys fit into the system well, which they darn well might given that we're replacing Boozer and making the team deeper. That wasn't the question though, a few pages back J4L said this year will be a tough D assignment even for Thibs, and I was asking why we should expect the D to fall off despite no personnel changes moving from good defensive player to poor defensive player. Yes, if all players get injured, productivity might fall off, but that's not particularly enlightening.

Can I get a reason the Bulls D is expected to drop off again?

Soxtalks love for OJ mayo is undying, even as he attempts to eat himself out of the league.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) I think you mean Jamal. Jordan Crawford is very available and can be had for fairly cheap. yeah I did that.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) ^ Am I only one who would totally love xavier henry?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:55 PM) When the hell did he become fat? I'm pretty sure he tried to eat himself off of that awful team or became fat by osmosis in milwaukee.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:54 PM) We should get Jordan Crawford so he can tell Melo that KG f***ed his wife. I would love Jordan Crawford but do not see a way to get him. He was pretty damn good for Clips.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Bucks are $13 million under the cap. Any chance we can trade Boozer for OJ Mayo? Please google image search for OJ Mayo.

So Bulls get draft rights to this guy back in the deal: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Milova...ovic-187/stats/ That's right, a 29 year old big who averages .1 blocks per game. I wonder if euro leagues have cap tricks where they draft american players who quite clearly won't come over to save money. They also get the better of bulls 2nd round picks in 15 and 16.

Was his family able to travel yet?

Eh, what does she know. Her reporting during Carmelo was horrible LA crap just to provide ESPN with clicks.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) Not when you factor in the minimum salary for the other roster spot (e.g., we still would have had to have 2 players vs. 1, so Doug McD + minimum cap hold of like 500K > #16 and #19. I don't think that's right, someone said there is still 300k of savings there. So savings so small it barely matters.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) Wouldn't the cap hit on 2 1st round picks at 16 and 19 be more expensive than just McDermott's? Yes, but you could have used one of those on a euro player (as denver did) and stash them ala Mirotic. That "savings" was negated by taking back Randolph, whom we then had to use assets to unload his 1.9 million salary. Brutal brutal brutal.
-
Sigh, I like Doug, but that would put the ongoing tally to complete his deal to be 2 first round picks and 3 second round picks.
-
He brings up a valid point.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) A few different quality players in there. Sessions / Aaron Brooks are quality. I also like Stuckey quite a bit. Wes Johnson / CDR and others are solid too, but I think if we could get 2 of the better guys on that list (one at SG and another at PG), I would be extremely happy. Stuckey is on there but TBH I bet he takes a payday. I could see Aaron Brooks go for Bulls Redemption at min, though. The hail mary would be Jameer Nelson deciding he doesn't need a final payday and playing for min.
-
Here is the pile of crap current free agent crop of guards we can try to convince to take the vet min: Udrih, Beno Stuckey, Rodney Sessions, Ramon Rush, Brandon Ridnour, Luke Murry, Toure Moore, E’Twaun Mack, Shelvin (RFA) Johnson, Wesley Douglas, Toney Douglas-Roberts, Chris Crawford, Jordan Brooks, Aaron Brooks, MarShon Henry, Xavier Temple, Garrett What say you, Soxtalk?

The spurs have 8 players with long range ability, ability to pick up the dribble and have been perfecting their movement offense for 4-5 years. The bulls are not the Spurs. They have 2 forwards now with Kyle Anderson that can play like point guards, and have a what Jimmy Butler could be if he could shoot the 3 and finish at the rim more often.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) Alec Burks would be a very good get out of Utah. He might be on the outside of a numbers game there. I've been touting this but when I looked at the news out of Utah for proposed trade packages including him, they were for big hauls. They aren't in any hurry to dump him even though they have a bit of a logjam with the recent draft of Exum.

Also, just to be clear, Bulls entered offseason with areas to upgrade, one of which WAS front court depth. That they chose to go pump up FC depth rather than go hard for a guard will be something to judge this team on. And I don't think anyone here has been overhyping McDermott. A certain poster has the tendency to make a fake person to argue with to make their argument more convincing, but it doesn't mean anyone has actually been acting like McDermott will be the 3rd star we were missing. Reason for optimism: For 4 years the bulls have tried plug the spacing issue by signing a "3-point guy". IT really did work pretty well when you had Korver and Deng was hitting reasonable amount of 3s. Then they plugged in Belli. Then MDJ. Point being we've basically had one consistent long range shooter and our spacing is by far the worst i the league. Defenses against us look like a kids soccer game. If Snell has made the leap to become a legitimate 3 and D SG, Dunleavy, McDermott and Mirotic are all legitimate, consistent long range threats. Also losing Boozer, who basically gave up playing inside on O and hung out 15 feet from rim in favor of Gasol really could be an interesting offense. But you can't have everything, and losing Melo derby means the bulls for the 4th straight year are entering season without a 2nd shot creator unless a gift is sent to us. That has been the single biggest killer preventing this team, and it still isn't addressed. But maybe the spacing improving and some semblance of a real derrick rose would be enough.

The wizards may not have done anything that put them over the top, but they were also very young, and are now a year older. If Otto Porter's crap first season was just dealing with the hip injury, and he turns out to be a good player, they are a scary team. They diced the bulls apart. Nene/Gibson destroyed Noah.
