QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) Hawks used both provisions last year. I do not see how Hawks add talent down the road with so much money tied up In a few players. The hawks from this point forward are going to have to rely on their farm and cheap vets seeking a cup.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:52 PM) In the mainstream media a lot of people still by it. Similar to the talk of Bulls only offering $74M. Both have been debunked by local media reporters, however, mainstream keeps going on about it. This kind of reminds me of Jose Abreu...no one gave the Sox a chance until bam...we signed him. Seems like no one thinks Bulls because of all of these "perceptions" vs. any actual inside information. I agree with all of this. The only real debunking or follow-up seems to have been done by KC/Cowley. Broussard did a hit and run and then all the other ESPN beat reporters ran with it (actually Frieddell also seemed to dismiss it)

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:41 PM) Over a PG that can't shoot? Yes. Plus Rondo is a tradeable asset they could send off to a contender for someone else. But the picks for a rebuilding franchise are MUCH more valuable than a 6th man and two late 1st round picks. Except the Twolves stated they aren't looking to rebuild. I'm guessing Ainge is working to use 1st round picks to bring in other teams. That idea (a 3 team trade) is so far outside the realm of what GarPax are capable of it is hilarious.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) LOL. Ainge has BETTER assets than the Bulls (Rondo + picks galore) and HE can't get Love. Yes, Rondo is a very valuable asset to the timberwolves.

It is remarkable to me, if the Cavs sign lebron, how that completely inept franchise inepted themselves into a championship. Nobody in the NBA has failed upward better than them.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) I thought you laughed at the notion of including someone like Noah. I would move Gibson, Mirotic, and our picks for Love. No problem about it. I think you need stars to win and would offer that. However, I don't know if that is enough. I laughed at how quick bulls fans are to include Noah. Ultimately I don't think we'd need to include him. I would also have liked to have traded for Aflallo as an asset for love. Instead we have Doug McDermott, whom I really like. But we did not view the draft assets as something to use in a trade for love. Let me put it this way, Danny Ainge, with the bulls assets, would have Kevin Love right now.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Weren't you the one saying we shouldn't gut our team for Love and no team would do that? No, I am love's number 1 supporter. At worst you have 2 25 year old superstars to build around. edit: Behind Felix.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) LeBron James reached out to two vet free agents last week about joining him, IF he left Miami, sources tell Yahoo. Mike Miller was one. 11:19am - 9 Jul 14 -woj. Cavs also reached out to Mike Miller. Gotta be Ray Allen/Miller, right? Or Gasol...hmmm

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:23 PM) Who else is available? I'm pretty sure they went for Love (or would still go for Love) but probably don't have the assets for him. Everyone else is a tier below, so of course it'll be disappointing. It's really not their fault they managed the franchise around a broken star player. We offered Taj and Snell for love. I'll leave that to you to decide if that is a good offer.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) We might also have to deal with the possibility that the city of Chicago isn't appealing to these guys. It may or may not be the case, but you sure never hear about people being interested in the Bulls just because of the city like you hear with NY/LA/MIA LAL has things work out for them for eternity, mainly because they work hard to achieve this. The LAC used to have agents across the league tell their clients to stay away. The NYK recently have struck out just as much and are near losing their only star. Miami has had this work out one time due to Pat Riley and Wade. If that didn't happen, they are probably just as crappy an org as the marlins.

It may not be their fault they didn't get Melo, but it will be their fault that they decided that Melo, a FA, was their only option, and then plan b is a 34 year old Pao Gasol, and then, I guess Vince Carter or something.

2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) Which is not what they did. They outlined multiple options to Melo, some which involved moving Taj / others, but Bulls can do things and get max. I think this all comes down to what Lebron does. If Lebron goes long term, it should bode very well for Bulls. If he signs a contract with a 1 year out, Melo is staying in NY and the Knicks and Melo will try to sign Lebron in a year. If it is long term and Love ends up in Cleveland, all of a sudden there aren't many stars out there for Melo to play with, and it means he ends up coming to Chicago. Bosh ends up in Houston. You have no idea what the bulls did, but we know that right now the bulls have zero cap space, so could not send Melo away with an offer. We know they can amnesty boozer for 10 mill of cap space, and trade MDJ rather easily, and try to find suitors for ronnie brewer/etc contracts to get up to 15. We also know the Bulls could have instead amnestied boozer outright and traded Gibson for assets, and had Melo walk way, facilitate with a 20 mill offer, and if he said no, we could have went after a different PF. But instead the bulls are relying on Melo to trust the bulls, want to be there so much and have Phil Jackson bail them out. Meanwhile, Danny Ainge is acquiring picks, looking to swing Rondo for assets and building up an offer for Kevin Love, a trade, where he doesn't have to hope the player trusts and loves them enough to bail them out.

Road to .500 by the All-Star break
Would you all take a top ten draft pick even if it was caused Abreu having a terrible 2nd half that make people think he was "figured out".

2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) Not at drafting. The bulls drafting would be better if they swung assets like Jimmy/Taj for better players instead of falling in love with them and telling a star player to sign for $15 million.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) They need Cleveland to be between 15 and 30 and the Bulls to be better than that. It's not worth very much at all. Ugh, that trade sucks. Why is Forman so terrible at everything.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) Doing that without a commitment from Love is a fireable offense. I mean, this is Andrew Wiggins we're talking about... If they think Lebron is coming, Love will sign on. Also, cavs are terrible at management.

2014-2015 NBA thread
I think the Melo holding out for Lebron is regarding this : If Lebron signs a 2 year deal with another opt out after 1, he will sign with NYK and hope Lebron opts out and joins knicks next year with their uber cap space. That was brought up by Blogabull and makes sense. IF he chooses long term in miami or cleveland, that is good for bulls in whatever limited sense good could mean at this point. However, I think Bulls fans should hope cleveland sucks so that our swapped first rounder is better. Re: Love to cleveland, Danny Ainge how has 9 first round picks in the next 4 years.
