  1. Ha, I forgot how poorly Huntsman did. I feel like even Kucinech found more support.
  2. This is annoying. I hate having to be so negative to maybe my favorite white sox ever, but man, please don't come back PK.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) lol yeah... Romney was a real weiner. He was a legitimate candidate that was undercut by his own side. Had he run on his actual credentials he would have been fine, though likely still lost. Instead he basically had to constantly avoid any of his accomplishments and basically run against himself.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) Mizzou better not take the dogs for granted.... If mizzou loses, probably will just be because they aren't very good.
  5. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) Interesting article on Gammons website here regarding the drastic increase in power hitting. To me it adds up to Konerko getting an incentive based deal somewhere if he decides he wants to play next year. http://www.gammonsdaily.com/mlb-power-at-t...ly-meet-demand/ Some interesting numbers from the article: "In 2004, nine players hit 40 or more homers, led by Adrian Beltre’s 48, and including Jim Edmonds (42) and Paul Konerko (41). In all, 37 players hit 30 or more homers." "In 2013, two players hit 40 or more homers, Chris Davis (53) and Miguel Cabrera (44). Davis and Cabrera are included in the grand total of 13 players who hit 30 or more." Drastic decrease.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) When is the last time the GOP put out a respectable candidate for President? 2012?
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) How about if that shell of a former self still can outplay Conte and Wright? Honestly, bad as they are, I don't think he could.
  8. I for one would be pumped to add another aging veteran playing like a shell of their former selves.
  9. What's worse is the huge corruption in the military contracts in Iraq where hundreds of millions would disappear or be shotty work. Yes, this web site sucks but at least it can be transparent. That contracting we had no way for it to check its oversight, and there was no oversight.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) Hopefully you're right, I think I've only seen Florida play onec this year so I haven't realized it's gotten as bad as some of you are saying. I can't remember the last time Florida was thought of so negatively They just got spanked by Vandy at home (even though they only gave up like 200 yards of offense). I hope they beat up Scar though, please.
  11. Has Washington been active for a game yet? I was really excited about him but seems like he must be pretty raw/terrible.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) Isnt Peppers cap hit insane next season if he stays on the roster? I thought I remembered when they reworked his deal this year, it basically sealed the deal that he will not be a Bear next season So, it's a huge cap hit if he's not on roster, and a huge cap hit if he stays on roster? Fun contract.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) Florida still scares me. It's in Gainesville and you can never overlook rivalry games. Most kids who play at FSU/UF/MIA were probably recruited by the other two schools and know players so you know they're going to be up for the game. Yeah, but Florida's offense has deteriorated to embarrassing bad. FSU's defense is tough against a good offense. Florida may not get more than 150 yards on offense.
  14. I'm of the opinion that Peppers still could be useful to the bears if he played more situationally. Yes, he's not getting paid for that but we're beyond that point. The fact that the bears don't have enough dline bodies to switch them out and keep them fresh has been just as big a factor as the lack of talent. Being able to switch in Wootton, Shea, and Izzy as opposed to just have your starters go 100% of snaps is not the way the NFL or College is going nowadays.
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 01:50 PM) Chiefs go from 2-14 to 8-0. Two 0-8 teams get their first win on the same weekend. Colts beat 9-1 Seattle, 8-1 Denver and 6-3 San Francisco but lose to 4-5 Miami, 4-5 San Diego, and 3-6 Oakland. This season NFL has been WTF. And the st. louis beat down on the colts.
  16. Stacy just said Cleveland's done a good job drafting.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 01:55 AM) I don't get it, but somehow this team just blows. No energy and no spacing. They can't shoot for s***, but this new offense I'd all about open gunners. They are so boring to f***ing watch. Yeah was kinda feeling same way watching this.
  18. Does rejecting the Q.O. mean he thinks he'll get more on market?
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 04:41 AM) Speaking of weird things... My MacBook Pro, which has been sitting in a drawer for a long time (a year and a half, at least)...works? I quit using it because it had been f***ing up. I had an issue with the screen where it was turning off randomly due to some kind of hardware issue - though I think I resolved that one. When I brought the laptop in to the Apple Store to get that issue resolved, I mentioned that and another thing: it was getting so hot near the charger that the charging cord was starting to melt and my battery performance was horrible. They "serviced" it - by that I mean, they looked at it and told me it would cost a bunch to fix and wasn't covered by warranty. They said they couldn't replicate the screen issue and afterwards, I couldn't either. However, the battery was rotten when I got it back. Apple told me the charger problem had essentially roasted my battery. They weren't joking. The laptop wouldn't even power on without being plugged in. I would leave it plugged in and it would say it wasn't getting a charge. I left it on to watch a Sox game while watching a Bears game on my other laptop (don't ask) and despite being plugged in for about 5 innings, I nudged the charger off of the slot and it turned off immediately. Hence, worthless laptop (to me). I decided I should just sell it to someone who wants the many functioning parts so I started snapping pics for eBay. I also updated to Mavericks to make it sound cooler and just because I was interested in the improvements. This took quite a while and, therefore, it was plugged in for quite a while. I noticed that the battery status indicator was actually showing that it was taking a charge, which seemed weird. I decided to do an experiment and pull out the cord. and... it's still on. As a matter of fact, I've been using it to surf the web for about 80 minutes and it still has 62% life. The computer itself shows a healthy battery: 4700 mAh out of original 5700 mAh capacity after 836 cycles. I ran a third party battery health app and it basically saw the same thing. Apple says the battery in this unit should have about 80% capacity after 1000 cycles, so we're not far off from normal here. I just don't get it. Why did it start working now? Can I sell it as a working computer now as opposed to one with a faulty battery? Why did I just buy another computer? Maybe that drawer is like the indian in the cupboard.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Not sure I understand this: Is this a percent of the total population of low income students at or under poverty line enrolled in public schools v. private? Or is this a percentage of the total public school population that has low income students.
  21. No I know I thought it was funny. But as time passes and the wars wind down, I think people are re-thinking about the Bush presidency focusing on domestic policy. But going through those years, everything was about the wars. All focus was always on foreign policy. So yeah, could Bush have been a good president if US continued it's 90s boom and 9/11 never happened? Sure. But so could every other president. Bush also had democratic support on two of his major policy initiatives - Tax cuts and Education. There has been 1 republican vote on a major democratic agenda in 2 terms so far for Obama. And you can't point to that agenda being radical, this goes for stimulus as well.
  22. I'd love if there were a thread in here that for some reason didn't have to go back to truck driving.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 03:33 AM) One key difference though. Bush's One Big Thing (Iraq) resulted in the deaths of thousands of American soldiers, hundreds of thousands of foreign citizens, and cost about a TRILLION dollars. Obama's One Big Thing (ObamaCare) will cost a fraction of that and it's failures appear to be not helping enough people and causing higher rates for others. Which is worse? LOL.
