  1. Yeah I'd take give you money to make that bet. But even how Thornton kept looking over toward his bench every he time he made a shot and rubbed it in their face...HIS OWN BENCH.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 05:40 PM) I generally assume players that outperform their peripherals will regress negatively and players that underperform their peripherals will regress positively. EDIT: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P what are stats?
  3. You're right...they are not in the level of nester molina and phil humber in terms of powerhouse.
  4. Every year we assume every other teams players are a fluke and that our players will play to their averages.
  5. We'll see this year.
  6. for definition of powerhouse see : phillies, philadelphia. tigers, detroit.
  7. Watching the game I was prepared to change Hamiltons nickname to 2 Short for his jumper, but then i saw he was shooting 50% from the field. I'm sort of fascinated by this season and I just wanted to comment on one more hypothesis. Usually the presesason is a time for the players to get acclimated to how the refs are planning to call things this season. The bulls are a physical d and are getting a lot of fouls called which I think is due to a combination of 1) this lack of playing with NBA refs and 2) lack of discipline from the time off. I was excited to see Fredette play and I liked some things but boy is he going to be a turnstile on defense. But I don't catch Sac Kings game a lot, and after watching it I have to say that is one incredibly unlikeable team. There is 1 thing i'm nervous about so far. Our guards are getting really played with on defense. Thibs has to sure this up soon.
  8. More that he had one of the best statistical seasons of any mizzou qb ever beside the daniel years.
  9. When I first heard this i thought it was saying any payments you made on your phone verizon would take a $2 cut. But now that I know it's just for paying your phone bill...then I don't care.
  10. Something more than kitsch.
  11. Well first, the idea that Illinois couldn't have a primary because of legitimacy.
  12. My thoughts exactly.
  13. this blew my mind btw: http://www.columbiatribune.com/weblogs/beh...rewell-to-2011/
  14. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) That would be me... Honestly, it just depends on the weekend. When teams like Alabama and Florida come, you better book really early. And not that I'm trying to put down Missouri or anything, but with yall being new to the SEC and not a powerhouse or anything (but better than UT is right now), I wouldn't imagine that weekend will be too difficult to find something if you want to wait a little longer (albeit, you probably won't be within walking distance if you wait much longer). I'd say all of the downtown area hotels (walking distance to campus/stadium) will fill up pretty quickly regardless, though. If you don't mind having to drive to campus (traffic is absolutely awful if you leave the area right after the game and parking will run you $20 minimum if you park off-campus), then you'll definitely be able to wait and find hotels within a 10 minute drive. Not sure that helps, but if you're definitely going to go, then I'd say book a downtown hotel now b/c walking to the bars/stadium/campus is just so much easier. None taken. We traditionally don't travel very well. That's why I was surprised to have so many hotels I tried booked early. I'll try to get a crew together now then. I think it will be a blast. How far is the drive? 8.5? (chicago) And one last thing, when do tickets go on sale usually?
  15. Oh please, what an outrageous accusation.
  16. The game rewards you for trying to actually run an offense. If you try and ad lib and just run around, it's harder for AI to keep up and players just start clogging up everything.
  17. Who is the Tennessee fan again? Do you know how long I'll probably have to book hotels? Like half are already booked up for that weekend.
  18. I'm struggling with running plays still. I do like that driving and dishing to the open man is a lot easier. The last game even the pg would just fall wildly trying to make a pass.
  19. tennessee is going to be a big big travel game.
  20. Mizzou's first SEC slate: September 8: Georgia September 22: at South Carolina October 6: Vanderbilt October 13: Alabama October 27: Kentucky November 3: at Florida November 10: at Tennessee November 24: at Texas A&M
  21. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) I'm not buying the "dominant rotation" part, but I will say that kw has been adept recently at finding good starting pitching. IMO, if all works out we have a couple #2s (danks/sale/nestor) and a couple #3/4 types (Floyd/Humber/) with backend guys in Stewart/axelrod/etc. The prob with what we currently have is the timelines don't mesh. By the time Nestor is established in the bigs Floyd might be gone. Sale has talent for sure, but can it translate to being a starter (a lessor worry of mine) and can he stay healthy over 180+ innings (huge worry of mine with his delivery). Also it's gonna take sale until 2013 to pitch more than 160 innings ap in the immediate future you're looking at a hard innings cap. Danks is already #2/3 and Floyd is an solid #3, but unless someone busts out above their rough expectation (depending on who and what ya read) this org lacks win now pitchers and lacks bigtime prospects for the coming years outside sale and Nestor which isn't a huge problem... BUT... If one of those two doesn't pan out this org will be hurting in the quality sp dept. Excellent post.
  22. Jesus. Not arguing about this. You are right, bodies are built to be indestructible to wear.
  23. Yeah, no. You can be the most conditioned athlete in the world and that doesn't mean your body won't even wear down. These players are going full speed into seven foot 290lb monsters. It doesn't matter how many wind sprints you do for that. Your body needs rest.
  24. yeah, it does kind of suck though b/c i'm realizing that watching basketball every night is much less exciting when they will be tired as hell. Right now the defenses are crap or offenses unprepared, and soon during the 7 games in 11 days stretches the teams will look lethargic.
  25. Nebraska basketball is the most awful team to play against. It will be a slow plodding game. You won't beat them by a lot b/c they won't let you have the ball a lot of possessions. I refuse to watch them play basketball.
