  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) It's the NBA Draft. Everything posted about it was reactionary last night. He was just negative in his reaction. Reactionary wasn't the right word, but he was putting way too much emphasis on this draft and the bulls future. If this was cleveland/utah/minnesota, i'd understand. But it wasn't. If we traded rose for derrick williams I could see it, but this draft was so bad I don't think it will be the turning point for any franchise, let alone ours.
  2. But I don't think this should include game threads. THere have been times during games where I have cursed voodoo spells on juan pierre, and then the play happens and whatever. It's way too hard not to be hyperbolic in the heat of a game.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) And in the end, he was very much right on his first and main part of his infamous post: This board incredibly overrates Omer Asik. The fact that we may have just drafted someone in the first round to play 12 MPG 3-4 years from now should only scare people, especially when the Bulls should be in win now mode. And that's all he was trying to address at the time. Well, I hate to break it to you, but championship teams rarely find their missing pieces in the 25-32 range of the NBA draft. Players like Asik, and hopefully Mirotic, are exactly the time of role players that help you win championships. I don't think any of us expect the offseason to be over, except for 1. I like J4L but he was incredibly reactionary last night.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) Examples of hyperbole are: Its a 3-1 game, White Sox are winning: "Sox will never win" That's a terrible example.
  5. If companies dump off insurance, the exchanges will get stronger and more affordable.
  6. Let alone what drove me crazy is using the bpa comment against the bulls, when clearly they weren't drafting on need. They didn't need a 7 ft forward, they needed a SG. And all these talks about drafting a sg in 20-32 that could contribute right away is crazy. He'd never see the floor. How many of those players have been great? Eddie Jones?
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 04:10 PM) I'll say, with a lockout looming, drafting someone with a buyout clause never made more sense. Let Mirotic rock it overseas and add some bulk to his frame. exactly. I still can't believe the circus comments from last night happened.
  8. I'm laughing hysterically at those who thought our 28th or 30th pick was going to put us over the top in any draft let alone this one.
  9. Bulger terrorized Boston on a large scale. It affected businessowners, cops, politicians...this was a very significant arrest and there really should be no romanticizing about it.

the character was based off of him but it was not really a movie about him.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) That's depressing. There was an article, unfortunately, also showing that a tax payer receipt did little to change their opinions.
  12. Actually it's incredible. Totally with you Milkman. CIA and FBI having a good month. I can't believe he hid for this long though! I hope theres a movie on it
  13. Good job cutting your losses t-wolves. No use wasting 2 years on a coach you know doesn't work.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) Do they say that? I'd have to ask. I'd imagine my friends would say "what's the difference? criminals have/use guns they're not supposed to have. Doesn't stop them from shooting at us now." Well their representatives have not said that.
  15. I think an interesting part of the gun debate, is that people who take the word of policeman in regards to drug policies (keeping them illegal), ignore policeman's recommendations when it comes to concealed carry. And vice versa.

well, for those of us who can't afford lolla, the afterparties usually feature a number of the acts at a cheaper price.

  18. This sounds fun, wish I could go!
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) I'm watching the 2001 NBA Draft on NBATV and it's simply depressing. Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler. Yuck. I remember I wanted Loren Woods in the 2nd round SO bad and we took Sean Lampley. Not than Woods was any good either. haha, me too, so bad. I remember thinking woods was good enough that it was like the twolves didn't lose a first round pick.
  20. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) If somebody was willing to give me $11,000 for a piece of paper I would sell it in an instant. Especially if I need the money to keep a roof over my head and food on the table. Whether I am black, white, orange, purple, etc... shouldn't really matter. truth. A handwritten letter from a president would definitely be something I'd like to keep for my kids and kids kids, but if it meant even a year of tuition i'd probably sell it.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) Oof, that's such a slap in the face to Nash. Send the poor guy to a contender. He's given the Suns franchise how many years? And good years at that. Article doesn't establish if it was anything more than twolves asking for nash and the suns declining.
  22. Nebraska basketball recruited better than Purdue?
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) True about his injury history. But the Lakers have probably a 1-2 year window in which to win another title while Kobe is still a top 5-ish player. He'll be 33 when next season starts and he's clearly not the player he was just a few years ago. No player they can take at #2 in this draft offers them more upside in the short-term than a healthy Bynum does. I think both are true but a center has a lot of value. Are there instances of a very injury prone player early in their career overcoming those and providing a stable 6 prime years?
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) The Lakers would never do that. They've refused to part with Bynum for guys like KG and Melo. Isn't Bynum, like, 22 or 23? He's one of the few 'true' centers left in the game. Right. Plus the #2 of this draft is just not that exciting.
