  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) I like black bourbon.
  2. Okay, I do care. Bring him on this team. I'm sure he reads message boards, so if he comes on here, I will be a big apologist, and massage his ego. He'll hit like 200 hrs.
  3. I've rooted for some real dbags in sox uniform before, I can do it again.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) How do you define average though? Because the things that usually are a sign of a decent DT performance happened. Pitt couldn't run the ball and the D-Line got pressure on Ben, which is never easy with him because of how much he moves around. Those things could easily be happening in spite of Harris, but I'm not convinced yet. Yeah, that's the Hammerhead Johnson argument that I don't buy, because Harris was paid the money he was paid to not only stuff runs, but to get TFL and pressure on the QB the way he did his rookie and sophomore years. Against something awful of a guard he needs to do more. Ben had a lot of time and a nice pocket for a decent part of this game. ANd I say this because Roethlisberger is as good as he is because he somehow manages to get that offense to score points when he's on his back all game.
  5. NY Post is a trash paper with golden head lines. I'm a fan. There was a hilarious this american life segment of a speech of a former Clinton staffer whose first, like, week on the job (i think he was a speech writer) they go to Russia, he gets too f*** up and misses the plane. Aww man I wish I could remember the name of that episode, it was hilarious.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) Anyone else got an opinion on Harris from these first 2 games? I'd actually be curious to hear it. Usually with a quality DT, you don't always notice what they're doing because they're not the ones getting to the QB, you notice them when you see that the outside guys and LB's are getting to the QB because the DT is blowing up the center and you notice them in the stats when you see that the opponent's running game sucked. Well, here's what I'm saying. The Pitt Oline is VERY bad. And Especially at the guard T. Harris was matched up against, I expected domination. He was pretty much average yesterday, that is a very bad sign for me.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) In the Sun Times game wrap up article they mentioned Alex Brown sprained his ankle, so not as bad as I imagined depends how bad the sprain is. He's our best dlineman...Harris is just trash now.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Um, somehow I don't think that's the most apt metaphor. 45,000/year versus a couple hundred million in 5 minutes being the key difference. is that a metaphor?
  9. haha, yeah. But nothing beats getting to play Colorado every year now. My god that program is in a tailspin that is going to be hard to get out of. It's such a cool school, too. If I was good at football I would love to play in Boulder. Not for that coach, though.
  10. Well, I take back what I said. Clearly the difference in the Mizzou-Furman game was the beat furman t-shirts. Hey T-tech fan(s), if you want to go to the big 12 conference championship just move to the big 12 north. Convince your school boards to put in the text books that texas tech is ACTUALLY in the north, show the text books to the big 12 conference, and voila!
  11. I talk so much s*** on STL people because their weird fascination with STL as if there is nothing better and it is the mecca for all the mizzou kids. And their weird "what high school did you go to" reliance in conversation. But, that city is not as bad as I thought. For one, city museum makes it better than many cities, for that one addition. For two, papi's bbq is really good. And their bar strips aren't terrible. Central west end is not my scene and it's just as meat-heady as Lincoln Park, really. But, anyways, there are some really pretty parts of that city, and, as a compliment they have a lot of things that make st. louis - st. louis. It has a lot more personality then f'n indianapolis or houston and s***.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:32 AM) Also I'm not sure how Cutler had 71% accuracy with all the f***ing drops the WRs had. But I'll take it. I mean, he's young and can be any kind of QB he wants. He doesn't just have a gun for an arm, he has an accurate gun for an arm. If we upgrade our WR weapons, or our WR weapons upgrade themselves by studying the playbook and doing the things they control, Cutler's INTs will be sub-15 each year in his career, and that's being VERY conservative. I really don't think "gunslinger" mentality is accurate. If he knows he has to be in a shootout, he takes the chances because everytime his offense didn't score, it was another TD they were down in Denver it seemed like. Besides the obvious less attempts will = less interceptions likely, the fact that our defense isn't horses*** like denvers I think will also lead to less ints and higher completion %. The one caveat in this thing is that our WRs are making stupid mistakes that are and probably will lead to more ints for him. I guess what I'm saying is, like everyone else, I'm not expecting Cutler to put up Brees #s, really ever for the Bears. But I wouldn't be shocked if his yards went down and his efficiency went up. I don't know about TDs, I mean, I think he can be a 30 td qb for us eventually considering now on goal lines we have a QB who can run a bootleg and hit the TE/WR in the end zone on the run instead of us relying on Forte/AP to run it in. (not this year, but assuming, since we are at the worst you could possibly be at WR, that we improve this position in years to come.) SO anyways my point is I think Cutler is a good QB. shocking!??! PUT ME DOWN THAT I THINK CUTLER WILL BE A GOOD QB. BRING IT!!!

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Same goes the other way around. If you DON'T like some classic film, people seem to assume you just don't know anything about films. well whatever find new friends. i just love polar movies. Really bad ones and really good ones. Have no time for wishy washy crap. There's no part of me that regrets seeing the happening. That was by far the worst movie i've ever seen. And because of that, was way better than most.

I hate when people don't believe you like citizen kane or other movies of the like, and are just trying to seem knowledgable, etc. It's apparently poor form to like older classics.
  15. seems pretty easy to rope balta into doing something he says he doesn't want to do,
  16. Let's jeopardize our largest contract for a meaningless season!!!
  17. "We're losing more Americans every day because of inaction ... than drunk driving and homicide combined," who edited this sentence for him? Awful. Ugh i was so much better at my job.
  18. Another reason why I hated all those arrogant do-gooders in the student orgs like MSA and the like, they made 300 "beat furman" tshirts for MU students this weekend in tigers lair or whatever. WHo the F*** wants that. Yay!!! We beat FURMAN!!! My tshirt totally helped motivate!!!
  19. I wouldn't want a statue, i would want a huge spotlight shooting picture of my face into the sky every night, like batman.
  20. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 07:56 AM) You didnt like Graduation? i loved graduation. I hated the Jay-z/Chris Martin song off of Kingdom Come.
  21. "Sen. McConnell’s ethics issues stem primarily from (1) earmarks he inserted into legislation for clients of his former chief of staff in exchange for campaign contributions and (2) the misuse of his nonprofit McConnell Center for Political Leadership at the University of Louisville." from that link.
