You know frankly, I'm getting really sick of the villification of the liberals on this board as a defense mechanism for some of the conservatives here. While kap has been great and ss2k5 has been awesome especially with his insight on financial issues, I'm getting sick and tired of *some* posters instead of debating a point, just calling the other posters Obama flaks and that's the new argument. Conservative posters here have strong opinions too, yet I don't see liberal posters ever hiding behind "oh you're just a republican sheep this is ridiculous your points are invalid because you're blind" type posts EVER. So why not just stick to the discussions at hand, as a whole, considering this is a baseball message board discussing politics, this stays pretty high minded and cordial. So how about just discussing the players in the race and not attacking the posters?

You know, looking back at last night's debate, it wasn't a head to head matchup, it was more of a golf game. This wasn't Obama vs. McCain, this was Biden vs. Biden and Palin vs. Palin. Palin supposedly was good, but made me cringe every time her answer got past t=30 sec. Biden, on the other hand, just flat out got back what he had when he was at the convention. People don't see Biden make his gaffes at every campaign stop. They see him in these big national stages, and both times he's done very well. He has put lots of pressure on McCain to respond in these situations. You know, I think this is such an interesting race for the fact that there are 3 senators involved, so each one knows each other so well, that they have so much ammunition to counter any argument.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:05 AM) Anybody remember the line from Friday where Ice Cube's character (Craig) says something to Chris Tucker's character (Smokey) about something Smokey did a week ago, and Smokey is caught off guard and he says "man why you bringing up old s***?" That's what came to mind when Palin started rebuking Biden on recent history. of course lost fan brings up friday...jk bud.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 03:57 AM) I would say that Joe won, but not by enough to have changed people from one side or the other. And the moderator? If anything she was being soft on Palin, Palin rarely answered the question given, Lehrer would've tried to veer her to the topic, not relate everything to energy and maverick.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 03:46 AM) At that moment, yes. You're right. However...if Roe V. Wade were overturned...there is nothing except the presence of a Democratic Congress stopping Congress from choosing to ban that practice nationally the moment that the case is overturned. If Bush had 1 extra justice and the case was overturned in 2005/2006, then the Republicans easily could have banned it entirely for the full nation. would have died in the Senate without R-60

what a waste of my time.

Here's what will happen. Alpha Dog and drunkbomber will watch the debates thinking that there is a biased moderator. Any question asked to Palin will be considered unfair, because the moderator is just an Obama hack. And all of Palin's awful answers will just be due to unfair questions. Or, just like in the first debate b/w presidential candidates, the moderator will give out a broad topic, allow both 90 seconds, then try and facilitate them to debate each other.

Well, at least it was fun when dweezy hit that 3 run bomb. Uck, hated every moment on defense though. I loathe Vazquez

QUOTE (Baines3 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Javy pitched terrible. Let's get rid of him some how during the offseason. I concur. This will be an interesting off-season regardless of what happens.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) Where are you getting any of this? I've never claimed the White Sox are the worst in the league or the worst to make the playoffs. Neither do I use this one game as the definition of our team, or the other playoff clubs who lost. It's not just one game. This is all I'm suggesting. How do division series favor teams which win the first game of the series? We can't just dismiss it. This isn't Game 1 of 162. Matchups, unless they're part of a large trend (ie, Santana against us) can't be guaranteed to follow as planned. Just because this afternoon wasn't our best chance to win on papaer doesn't mean we'll fare any better tomorrow because Buehrle is going up against a struggling Kazmir. We've seen with Blackburn recently that even struggling pitchers can turn themselves around in one start, against one team. That's why I can't just blow off this game. We had our opportunities to win and blew it. No guarantee we'll do well tomorrow. First off, my first comment wasn't directed at you. Second off, I was reading the game thread in class, and those comments were uttered, and weren't outliers in the conversation. Does it suck we lost the first one? yes. But it was our headcase pitcher. If we win tomorrow we are in pretty damn good shape. After september, I'm very confident in our 3 of Buerhle Floyd Danks. I don't see any reason to wave the white flag, and once again CONDEMN this team just because they didn't sweep through the playoffs.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) .....of a five game series. Cmon bmags, I wouldn't expect this from you. The baseball retarded use this phrase during the season. I'm sorry, I'm reading that this just proves that the white sox are clearly the worst team in the league, in fact, the most frustrating team to EVER make the playoffs. We had our worst starting pitcher going, then we throw in our AAAA pitcher for a lot of the innings after that. We need 1 of 2 from this game and we knew this wasn't the best shot we had. Welcome to the playoffs. Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win. One game isn't the definition of your team. Do the Cubs, Angels and Brewers all completely suck too! Right!
-
I don't want Javy on this team after this season, and considering how Marte was traded, I guarantee you Vazquez is gone.
-
Guys, it was one game.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) This is our 1 The Sox are playing away from the Cell, in a dome, against a better team, and had Vazquez starting. Did people really expect a run away win? Sox just had a chance in the 7th to take the lead. this is what I'm saying.
-
welcome to the playoffs, fans. Can't be 11-1 easy every time..
-
shoulda started.
