  1. I would've liked Crow only because I go to Mizzou. I don't know anything about this kid. I'd like to save this thread for a few years when he's hopefully up and helping us win another World Series.
  2. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) They'll just accept it as small, personal donations from the people that work for lobbyists and PACS, that's all. Just like he says he won't take money from big business! No s***, sherlock, nobody can. But you sure will take a private donation from the CEO, CFO and so on. a 1000 dollar donation equal to so many other people gives you a lot less interest, no?
  3. Well, I feel like there are people in that church, some of them had to live through a pretty despicable era, and personally I think it's important that we acknowledge how things were and not have this get over it, things are better now. There are still repercussions for the institutional racism in this country, and if they are going to vent, vent, I guess, but, the important thing is that people of that church don't take these attitudes outside. We are talking about a very positive church for the city of Chicago.
  4. Well, my friend is not a part of that, and she's been there all her life. She said she makes it to about 2 a month. She's taught me a lot and when I learned she had been to this church in addition to a chicago reader article on a journalists run-in with THE PEOPLe of the church, I almost feel a need to defend it. The way she describes it, the people of that church are just very active and intelligent on the issues the city faces.
  5. I'm friends at school with someone who attends trinity. She's the brightest, nicest, open person I've ever met. This isn't a terrorist camp. And another leap, Obama said he heard 'questionable' things in sermons, he didn't say he WAS THERE for the questionable sermons we saw. I continually see this repeated and I don't understand it. edit: she's not the brightest person I've ever met, but she's got some bright ideas in journalism reporting.
  6. Yeah but that's if you were talking with educated voters, but most are stupid.
  7. good timing.
  8. that's absurd, as far as I'm concerned, the only right thing to do with michigan is not count it or a 50/50 split, that was not a primary. That was not a primary. That was not a primary.

can you verify that headbanging was not part of his speech?
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 29, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) *sigh* Clinton Camp Hints at Staying in for the Long Haul honestly though, the superdels are gonna move to obama. Pelosi hasn't done great going at bush, but she's done pretty good in this election situation.

I disagree. I think they are better live, but I'm a sucker for deconstructing and constructing their songs live.

oh, and I knew common was there because he was on stage during N.E.R.D., the crowd gave big cheers for Common and Chris Brown.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 26, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) Now, were you at Slint playing pitchfork fest last yr? That is the question. i was No, I was stuck in Missouri. I'm hoping to get up this year though for Les Savy Fav.
  14. bmags replied to greasywheels121's topic in SLaM
I was there too. Fantastic, like you said, I even enjoyed Rihanna. Disappointed though, with Common there, that we didn't get an encore of anything with him, maybe southside. BUt obviously with a performance this orchestrated and lights this set up, it's understandable it's hard to go off.
  15. QUOTE (gsoxs1 @ May 22, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) I have to say DJ's call of Dye's blast last night was pretty good. You could feel the enthusiasm in his voice. Seconded...i was jumping up and down as well.
  16. we had a three run lead and you need to let pitchers pitch through problems. You can't just stop using players.
  17. Quentin's homer was ... BOOM.
  18. Masset's gonna close?
  19. A friggen FANTASTIC job by Masset! He threw like 4 warm-up pitches and kept the ball low and tight.
  20. I thought we were talking about Boone Logan.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) One can argue: "Why do we even have politicians?" Whenever there's an issue to decide on just have the people take a vote on it and the majority wins. because the sheer amount of votes would be gigantic, the populace would be underinformed, and who would draft the legislation.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2008 -> 07:29 AM) Unfortunately, this doesn't only exist in West Virginia. I think racism is going to be a factor in November, and I can't stand that at all. I am voting McCain, but if he wins due to racism I will feel terrible. I'd rather see Obama win if it means ignorance over something as irrelevant as skin tone doesn't play a role. For most states, I don't think it will play a role. but McCain will clearly win in Kentucky and WV, where voters openly have expressed to newspapers they aren't voting for him because they are worried he's just going to give jobs to all his black friends. "They've seen it before"

haha, i just saw that on TV, it was entertaining, shallow and uneducational, but entertaining.
  24. and another thing, opening up dialogue is not negotiating.
