  1. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) he's a horrible journalist. i'll just leave it at that. He really isn't, his show actually covers news not people and does long term stories. It's the only one like it on cable news. His coverage is a more personalized and narrative, but I'm all for creating more entertaining news as long as the substance is still there. In TV where they sell your face, I see no reason to act like the story is in front of you.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Danks's limit this season should be about 160 innings. He's thrown 92.2 in the first half. do you think in August or so, we can pair up Danks and Masset so Danks will come out at 5.0 and use our lightly-used bullpen? When it's all said and done us using our bullpen so little is going to be a huge advantage.
  3. good lord look how dumb our TV media is... http://www.veracifier.com/episode/TPM_20080701
  4. well, the blogs were his first backers, really, before he was a known commodity. Sites like moveon.org, dailykos, huffpost etc were overwhelming in their support for obama over clinton. And some of the reasons they supported him was that he was supporting no telecom immunity and such, then he wins over clinton and then blasts these blogs. Especially when we criticized hillary for doing this. Unfortunately, he knows this crowd is going to vote for them, so he can distance himself from them, and give us a B.S. washed up agenda that won't solve s*** trying to please everyone. WHERE IS OUR JAMES K. POLK

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) A big theme for the Obama campaign is that McCain is another Bush. I think the "older" part is just obvious and unstated - I don't see them actually saying anything on THAT part. right, but the latter part of my statement was the point.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) Obama stabbed you in the back? How did he manage that? well this is Chicago, he can't have a handgun.
  7. There's a post on dailyKos right now by Markos saying why he didn't give to Obama's campaign before the quarter ended last night, and I agree'd with it 100% and last night when I kept getting emails, I decided not to give any money. he'll get my vote, but if he keeps stabbing us in the back unneccessarily he's not getting any of my beer money.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) He broke down even earlier last season, but if you look at his minor league inning totals you can see that he hasn't even come close to throwing the amount of innings that it takes to pitch in a complete major league season and the White Sox need to be aware and careful because if you push him too far past his prior year inning totals you take a major chance at ruining a promising arm (and this is statistically proven). This is why I really hope we can have a big lead like we had in 05, if we can give masset or loaiza a spot start in Aug. and Sept. It'd be so beneficial.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) I think Danks wearing down also had to do with the scouting reports getting out on him, and he couldn't fool anybody with his 3 pitches anymore. Now he has 4 and there's a big, big difference in the type of pitcher he is. Was his ERA under 3 at the beginning of July last year? I don't recall him even being close. I think he was about 4.5 at this point. I was happy. Dude was 21.
  10. I don't mean to get into the 'sTaTs R teh StUpId!" argument, but I think the example of swish's problem at leadoff is an example of creating an offense off pure numbers isn't always the best way. Swish's OBP looked ideal to leadoff, I was a proponent of it, but it seemed to mess with his head after his initial success.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 04:11 PM) Watch CNN, MSNBC, Fox, or anywhere else that plays the campaign events. I do, I've never seen that statement.
  12. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) But, yet NBC allows him to host debates and campaign coverage as though he were Brokaw. cry me a river, look at whose been hosting the debates and tell me how many were just news anchors. Generally they take those who interview people, not toss it to their fellows.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) It has pretty much been said everyday on the campaign trail... proof?
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 02:40 AM) Olbermann makes me laugh if nothing else. My wife watches him but I don't watch him when I want to see real news. well obviously, his show is editorial
  15. I just remember that from the Simpsons. I agree with most, but I'd give Toby Hall an A.
  16. I'd want an IF back that can play 3b well. I wish we had robbie mack back.
  17. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) Anyone see the Tribune sunday? Shows about a fight that happened in the stands. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....owdown-o-1.html guess how marrioti reported this? Don't even go look, it will make you mad.
  18. that's just mccain showing off he knows what photoshop is.
  19. scenario speaks truth... I also liked how stu scott leading up to the sox cubs game with "when interleague play started everyone was paying attention to the subway series between the yanks and mets, and we all forgot about the El series in Chicago" Watching this game, the energy in the crowds for these games is incredible. There really are no other games I see like this during the regular season. If it ever happens, I can't imagine how insane a sox-cubs WS would be. Mercy!
  20. honestly though the people on that forum must have no idea what irony is.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 03:06 AM) I'm from Englewood, but I bet I make twice as much money as half of them FWIW. I laugh whenever a Cubs fan pulls that one out on me. I'm going to dig ditches. I also do meth. So I can't complain about their generalizations.
  22. man, this home field phenomenon this year is crazy.
  23. Jenks is hilarious. Dude gets men in scoring position with 0 outs all the time and they never cross the plate... BRIAN ANDERSON THOME QUENTIN but most importantly BUEHRLE!!!
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 02:36 AM) When did Daryl Ward start getting described as a big power guy? Is hitting singles having power in the NL?
  25. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 02:34 AM) Come on man, we're not Cub fans. Turn that TV back on. I don't have proof but I have an incredible corrolation.
