  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) I would like to think that if I was in this situation, that I would have tried to attack the guy who was shooting. Most likely I would have tried to run and got shot though. i've been thinking the same thing. I'd just imagine instinct would take over, perhaps cover up someone more vulnerable or someone I cared about, or hell, I could just freeze up. I have no idea.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) Now imagine what would happen if he chained the doors like in this case. yeah...chaos. this is real scary. If I were to die from outside forces i'd like to at least know that it was because of a choice i made to put myself in danger, not going to class or sitting in my dorm room. This is real scary, in that sense. Even in a car there is that sense, but sitting in class, despite the times you wish you were dead than listen to the lecture.
  3. being on a large, open campus right now, I do worry about copy cats right now, but I it's not a large worry. We are a very open campus, though, and i just can't imagine the terror that would ensue if a gunman came in a large lecture hall, despite numerous exits in each, there would be a stampede.
  4. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) The problem is some of the wounded are dying at the hospital, so it will be several hours before they know for sure. It looks like the wounded and dead are over 50. That is just insane. A total breakdown in security for the campus after the first shooting. Honestly, the big breakdown is the school not cancelling classes after the first death in the dorm halls. And the response to the second shooting. however, I just don't know any policy changes that would "secure" a college campus. It isn't like a high school where you could "lock it down", its open campus with 25 different buildings, tons of students, theres no way to regulate flow of students in and out of classrooms. Imagine if they went in a huge lecture hall! I just don't see any policy changes that would help.
  5. terrible. I'm sick to my stomach. Prayers to the families and the campus. Goodness.
  6. i mean, south america has never hosted an olympics. On the other hand, it will be 20 years since an american summer olympics and at a city that has never had one before.
  7. QUOTE(shipps @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) By jumping on his sack I actually meant it as people loving whatever he makes. you probably don't mean critically, then?
  8. wow, really? Bright eyes gets so much crap, nobody gives him a free pass for anything. but yeah its bad.
  9. for the record, it's not a bad list, just their comments underneath is embarrassing.
  10. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) So men can say, i got it for the articles. "oh, i am embarrassed to have a magazine of clothed women in provocative poses, i get this for the terrible articles"

    Films

    I just saw grindhouse and loved it. I love that they tried to recreate an experience for the audience, though it seems america's rejected it. As for the movies, I thought Death Proof was much better and truer to the genre. Planet Terror almost seemed like a parody of these types of movies instead of really embracing them, and went over the top to recreate the experience instead of the small things tarrantino did, like when russel bent down and the boom mic didn't catch his dialogue. That said it was hilarious and fun, and rose mcgowan was fantastic in it. As for the long tarrantino takes, yeah, they are reminiscent of resevoir dogs but I caught something else in it, they really reminded me of late 60's godard films, in its length/long takes and dialogue and the way they captured youth and life in the time period. As well as kurt russel was so phenominal and he got the best out of Rosario Dawson. The car chases were so great as well. so yeah, this was such a great experience and i'm real glad they did it. It sucks it has bombed at the box office, but hell, clearly something is wrong when wild hogs is the 150th highest grossing film of all time.
  15. can we get that blalock dude?/green Jesus...did anyone even put that ball in play? THat is disgusting.

  18. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 06:02 PM) we're facing their ace i tell ya, aces!!!!! the fact that his 90 mph fastball was blowing past dye was upsetting.
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) It's crazy that Danks will probably have another decent start this game (I'm banking) and he's will not quite ready yet. (that alone is amazing) Alot of pitchers have been rushed and some succeed. Danks alone is the best 5th starter we've had for a long time already. It wasn't even a question whose better between him and Floyd. As for his fastball, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's pitched both his starts in 35+ degree weather which is pretty hard to throw heat in. But if he doesn't go over 90 in warmer weather then yea. i remember el duque being pretty good for 2 months. Then the collapse.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) I'm still waiting. ooh kalapse. *audience applauds*
