  3. first and foremost, i want to congratulate all those sox fans that stood and watched those aweful games, cause i'll admit, i had to stay away from everything when they were losing, i couldn't handle it. You guys are HARDCORE!!! THANK YOU WHITE SOXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!
  4. does anyone here like xiu xiu? They are the most challenging music i listen to but i think for that reason i love it that much more...Jamie Stewart is a real cool guy in his interviews too.

  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) knowing the slight-to-medium indie flavor of this board, I am expecting alot of scoffs and pointing fingers at this, but I have to say that I really like the new Bloodhound Gang album that came out yesterday, "Hefty Fine". These guys may all be dick and fart jokes, but they have this 70's/punk rock/rap meld that just draws me in every time. It is almost a seemless transition from their last album, "Hooray for Boobies" in musical style, but it doesnt really come off as a repeated effort. Of course, they have had damn near 6 years to come up with these 12 new songs(actually, about 10 new songs, there are 2 soundbites that are 4 and 8 seconds long), But I think Jimmy Pop did a fine job. I think I mostly enjoy thier albums because they make me laugh, but there are some really cool dance beats and catchy tunes mixed in there too. /ducks thrown objects i think you'd be suprised how many "indie" kids i know that were looking forward to that album. But oddly enough, they were not impressed at all with it...i unno, i won't listen to it... (radiohead is back in the studio )

    94.7 the Zone

89.1 was my favorite when i was home.
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) f*** NO. Not at all what I'm looking for. I saw those guys at Lolla a few months ago and I felt like I was at a cult meeting. Not sure what all the fuss is about. By the way, those guys are playing here this week I think. Thx for the suggestion anyway. did you see them play with bowie on the fashion first show or whatever...it was brilliant. I unno, i think funeral is a great album, probably my top 2 of albums from 04. Neighborhood #2, wake up, neighborhood #3...they do some cool stuff...plus them live and album are too very different experiences, they're very theatrical...they owned coachella and to the feller looking for raw guitars... check out lightning bolts new one - hypermagic mountain...or the liars - they threw us in a ditch and put a monument on top.
  10. that was just aweful baseball in the last two innings. AWEFUL ATROCIOUS HORRIBLE baseball. HOW CAN YOU NOT BUNT? HOW CAN YOU NOT DO YOUR JOB?? you did it all first half and you forget? Our first half was systematic, leadoff baserunner, steal, bunt, sac fly, run. GAME OVER. NOW its K K K K K K K K K K K K K HR!!! K K K K K K K K K K K K HR!!! KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
  11. exactly the type of situational hitting that will take us far in the playoffs... Oh wait...
  12. makes me pretty happy, it could have been better but you have a to build a casual fan base. Plus, with the increases in ticket prices and parking and gas, nice effort by the fans.
  13. sounds like our lineup...still a CG 1 ER i want this to end in DET
  14. this was great...thank you sox...thank you soo much... i'm starting to think if we really pull this off ( no jinx, i'm knocking on every piece of f***ing wood available) that it could make us a BETTER playoff team then had we entered at 15.5 games ahead. but i am just hoping we still win the division/make the playoffs
  15. ghost mountain - the unicorns.. i don't know why.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Actually saw a video for a song off I assume, their new record. Didn't make me want to listen to the rest, but maybe if I get my hands on it, I will. don't count em out until you hear B.R.M.C. "whatever happened to my rock n roll" is classic
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Eh, finally heard BRMC, didn't hate it, but it didn't blow me over either. I'll look out for FF though. which album did you hear
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) The comparison I always read for BRMC is the Jesus & Mary Chain. I've never heard BRMC, so I ask you: Accurate? Or Not? i've never listened to jesus and mary chain...should i?
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Good luck, my taste is all over the place. I like to think of myself as an indie/undeground kinda guy, but when I hear something that really moves me, I don't give a s*** if it's on a TV commercial and has sold 50 million copies. Not familiar with 'The FF", tell me about them and about 'black rebel motorcycle club' though, people will not shut up about them. BRMC just play good rock and roll , dark night club rock and its a lot of fun. They put out an acoustic cd i really liked this year. their self titled is the best...really good pop hooks. The fiery furnace's debut had them compared to the white stripes, but their next album blueberry boat was just this out of left field, epic album with 10 minute songs...i love it. They are from grant park i believe...brother and a sister, but they added others recently
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Yes, yes, I'm not a fan of V.U. at all, and am respecting your being a fan. We've knocked heads over bands too much, and I think your musical opinions are too good to continue to battle. So, I respectfully choose to not say anything. You love 'em, you know your s*** in music, so rock on. eh, its funny, the times we've got in music arguments, they've turned out to be huge misunderstandings....the green day thread and the bob dylan thread come to mind...haha... losmediablancos - (i am still trying to gauge what you like and dislike) are you a fan of the fiery furnaces?
