QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) LOL. Here goes the little bit of cred I had, Arcade Fire doesn't do it for me. Sounds like cult music. *LMB ducks to avoid large flying objects thrown at his head.* little bit of cred? who cares, different people like different things. you'd lose cred with me if you didn't like the arcade fire as part of the backlash that comes from bands being somewhat popular Theres some bands i still have trouble getting into for as much as their hyped to me...antony and the johnsons and i can't stand My Morning Jacket, and i also pretty much dislike elbow minus a few songs.

i miss lo-fidelity on 89.1 on friday nights at 8... that show was the s***...i remember one day it opened up with the arcade fire - powers out, kings of convenience, beck - sea change, and animal collective...i nut myself.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Oh God, now I'm gonna get shot! LV stands for Lakeview. Yes, I live five minutes from Wrigley field, but have been a lifelong Sox fan and haul my ass on the el to the games every week. The downside is that I'm surrounded by Cubbery. The upside is that when I'm out and about in a Sox jersey, people will come up to me, and give the handshake and nod, as we're comrades in Cubland. Or yell out "Go Sox" as they're passing by. It's like a band of brothers over here. If you ever need to know where the Sox-friendly bars are here, hit me up. maybe there will be a microwave effect, where one sox fan in lake view starts a catalyst reaction...and it becomes a hotbed of sox fans.

whats fun is that when this team is on a winning streak, you really don't see an end in sight, because every pitcher can get the job done.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) It's my firm belief that beanbags was invented primarily as a way to curb the number of accidents attributed to drunk Southsiders playing horseshoes and jarts ("lawn darts") on summer holiday weekends. Let 'em throw beanbags and nobody ends up at the emergency room. At least until we light the Coleman... haha, its likely, although they still hurt.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) The Moody Blues. ehhh...i'll take it i guess

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Is it possible in a few years to have almost our entire pitching staff comprised of homegrown talent other than Garland? MB, Garland, BMAC, Gio, Liotta? not to mention the other arms that have a shot, Haig, Haeger, Broadway, etc wouldn't that build KW's legacy...

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Best game in the world to play while drinking with family and friends!!! It's fun at first, but as the time goes by, it gets better and better! I actually throw better after I have had a few. My wife and I are asking my wifes sister and her man to build us our own. Great stuff though. i knew i wasn't the only one... "no you don't understand, i haven't gotten warmed up yet, i'm only on my first beer"

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Can someone please describe what 'The New Pornographers' sound like? I don't want to make the mistake I made with Sigur Ros. By the way, where do you guys go to for trustworthy reviews?...besides word of mouth? i'm a closet pitchfork reader...i disagree with much bad reviews...but when they give an album an 8.0 or better, it usually really does mean its great... The New Pornographers are basically pop perfection...good indie rock pop...very clean...i'm struggling to think of a parallel band at the moment...

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 06:22 AM) "Extraordinary Machine"?? Ya I 'acquired' that one a while back, listened to it a few times and apparently forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. I live the title track on the CD. Thursday night, Foo Fighters concert in Atlanta yeah, i held on getting it because i still kept hearing all this crap about how it wasn't the real leak...but i was recently told that it officially was the leak.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) And your point is? The President can do anything necessary to run this country from anywhere. The Oval Office does not give him special powers that he can't use elsewhere. Look, any time we have a major catastrophe there are going to be situations that can be handled differently. Sure mistakes were made, communications broke down, etc. I would be shocked if that were NOT the case. I just think it is a major crock to be politicking all of this. Why does the blame game have to start now? Someone mentioned because there could be another catastrophe next week? If you don't think that behind the scenes heads aren't rolling and they aren't already working on what went wrong, you are naive. I just don't see the purpose or need for a partison roast through the media. Sometimes, things need to be worked out behind closed doors rather than for all to see and critique. Unfortunately, this country has to blame someone and it all starts with the media. All the media does is turn things into a bigger circus. We have just witnessed the single biggest catastrophe in American history. It has basically wiped out a whole coastline. The magnaminity of this is almost beyond comprehension. No matter what the role of government is, and how many "fire drills" are done to have a plan ready, something of this enormity is bound to be a clusterf***. If we don't call for action, it may not change...i see no problem with the fury of complaints, if this fury was all placed for terry schiavo, they took notice, when its to question the federal procedures for major catastrophes , we should be quiet? Give me a break.
