QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) I love the Sox and have been to 12 games this year. That being said, should the media direct interest or reflect interest? If the Sox drew 3 million this year, there would be no negative attendance story. But we won't draw 3 million this year. Face it, like it or not, there are more Cub fans or people who call themselves Cub fans than Sox fans. And all this talk about shorter lines, blah, blah, blah is crap. Do you really go to the game hoping no one is there and the crowd won't sound super loud to spark the team? Everyone should want to see a full house. Perhaps you would like the Sox to have 14K for thier first playoff game so we can look like the laughing stock of the league. so you're saying we should hold a million man march in us cellular field to get to 3 mill?

while i know we're gonna win , and i know, because i SEE, that we have the best record in the big leagues.. it still feels so f***ing surreal. I just can't believe that this team that has finished a constant second for 4 straight years, now left everyone in the dust when they got rid of their 2 best hitters! Amazing really. this team puts me in good moods (though august i was a bit rubbish a lot of the time)

when did this board become a group of people just waiting to call out for a suspension on somebody else... a bit 1984ish.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) You're rooting for baseball? Who gives a f*** if he gets 15 wins. What does that do? it keeps a magnificent streak alive, i doubt i'll see a pitcher as consistent for as many years as this guy for a long long time. I don't feel threatened by a cubs pitcher maintaining a record that the majority of happened in another uniform. Who cares if the cubs win anymore...its like getting mad if the twins win at this point. -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Eeesh, somebody needs to get him a good script before he decides to go onto the White House. I guess I just REALLY don't get why people oppose it. I just really don't get it. My life will NOT change if a same sex marriage happens. My life will be effected in no way shape or form, and I probably will be oblivious to 99.99999% of the gay marriages that happen. This just baffles me soooo damn much. Why? Why is it an issue for non-gay people? Two people get to be happy, what is the big f***ing deal??? its debatable whether they get to be happy through marriage.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Aren't they kinda in that 'Puddle-Of-Mud, 15-years-later, still-trying-to-do-Cobain/Gavin' style? i unno but i hate that nu-metal crap... anyways, yeah live shows...it depends...i don't really mind neal young with all his crazy rules, in my opinion he's earned having high demands of his audience. he's like the soup nazi in a good way. Kramer understands him. I've never really seen a bad show due to the performers...i've seen some s***ty sound setups... but thats about it. Broken social scene seemed the most preoccupied (their producer/friend had the s*** beat out of him by NY cops the week before and they were in the midst of suing), but they still put on a sick show.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 04:58 AM) Out of curiosity, why are Sox fans rooting for Maddux? we're rooting for baseball -
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 04:36 AM) So how about Contreras!! He's awesome!!! A true ace in the making. If I were OG i would consider him as one of the playoff starters. yeah he really worked himself out of trouble a lot it was funny as s*** to listen to kc...their announcers basically sounded like this "oH god please for christs sakes score some runs!"

perhaps soaring gas prices have taken out leisure money from peoples pockets...i know the players can't relate...but i know my mom basically can't go out at home anymore

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) I know what you mean, cred is important for people who don't know music. I enjoy MMJ...thx to my wife. God, i downloaded so many instrumentals trying to find one to use for a film project...i'm thinkin i may use somethin by God Speed You! Black Emperor

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) LOL. Here goes the little bit of cred I had, Arcade Fire doesn't do it for me. Sounds like cult music. *LMB ducks to avoid large flying objects thrown at his head.* little bit of cred? who cares, different people like different things. you'd lose cred with me if you didn't like the arcade fire as part of the backlash that comes from bands being somewhat popular Theres some bands i still have trouble getting into for as much as their hyped to me...antony and the johnsons and i can't stand My Morning Jacket, and i also pretty much dislike elbow minus a few songs.
-
i miss lo-fidelity on 89.1 on friday nights at 8... that show was the s***...i remember one day it opened up with the arcade fire - powers out, kings of convenience, beck - sea change, and animal collective...i nut myself.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Oh God, now I'm gonna get shot! LV stands for Lakeview. Yes, I live five minutes from Wrigley field, but have been a lifelong Sox fan and haul my ass on the el to the games every week. The downside is that I'm surrounded by Cubbery. The upside is that when I'm out and about in a Sox jersey, people will come up to me, and give the handshake and nod, as we're comrades in Cubland. Or yell out "Go Sox" as they're passing by. It's like a band of brothers over here. If you ever need to know where the Sox-friendly bars are here, hit me up. maybe there will be a microwave effect, where one sox fan in lake view starts a catalyst reaction...and it becomes a hotbed of sox fans.

whats fun is that when this team is on a winning streak, you really don't see an end in sight, because every pitcher can get the job done.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) It's my firm belief that beanbags was invented primarily as a way to curb the number of accidents attributed to drunk Southsiders playing horseshoes and jarts ("lawn darts") on summer holiday weekends. Let 'em throw beanbags and nobody ends up at the emergency room. At least until we light the Coleman... haha, its likely, although they still hurt.
