PJ Star recognizes Sox
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) It's ABSOLUTELY true about the women at Sox games! Every bit as HAWT as women at Cub games, if not better!!! The Sox seem to draw more Latinas to the games, and that is OKAY BY ME!!!! I luuuuuuuuuv the Latin ladies....that's why I married one!!!! this cracked me up.. but its true...especially this year.

Whats in your...
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) In the player: Funeral - The Arcade Fire 5 CD's to bring on an island: 1. Quiet is the new Loud - Kings of Convenience 2. Desire - Bob Dylan 3. Arthur - The Kinks 4. Kid A - Radiohead 5. Turn on the Bright Lights - Interpol i agree with every album you have there...sometimes i think the kings of convenience get a little bland...i much prefer belle and sebastian though that is somewhat of an unfair comparison...still, sometimes ill just turn on a kings of convenience song and it can really just elevate you.

Best song of the 90's
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) The 80's were synthpop and make up. Was anyone really playing anything in the 80's? Madonna, Prince, M. Jackson, Boy George and Wham peaked in the 80's. The 90's were dominated by grunge, guitars and hey even power chords kinda made it back. Grunge alone kicked the crap out of anything 80's. Every decade has a ton of 1 hit wonders, the 80's had no shortage. I know this, the 2000's are in serious trouble. i don't know...i really kind of like the post punk of the eighties as well as the pre grunge...which i'll consider the pixies...but joy division, the cure, the fall, the smiths, REM [edit] i forgot Depeche Mode...the only grunge bands i still listen to are pearl jam, nirvana...and...i suppose the smashing pumpkins were grunge if only for gish, i don't really consider much else they did grunge... plus those pop bands you mentioned...madonna, prince..etc...that was the top of pop...everone still looks at that as the pinnacle of pop music... My song nominations: Creep by Radiohead (if only for those two cha chungs by jonny greenwood) Paranoid Android by radiohead Mayonnaise by Smashing Pumpkins Surf Wax America by weezer Across the sea by weezer Daughter by Pearl jam ...and mind block...

Dream Aquistion
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) I'm SOOO sorry that our musical tastes differ. Should I put a Top-40 artist on there instead and change the title. Incase you didm't know, genius, "The Best of What's Around" is a song by Dave Matthews Band and I thought it went well with Mark Buehrle. Next time maybe I'll put one with George Michael or Boy George on there so it'll make you happy. i always tell myself to stay out of dave matthews fights...but whatever... dave matthews is either on par or worse than george michael or boy george...and at least those two would make people laugh and cringe instead of just the latter... dammit...all i came into to do was to say i wanted chavez more than anyone in a dream sequence...and you guys had to draw me into a dave matthews fight.

Summer Concerts
last night they played 4 songs off the record... so i guess they are really starting to play it live.
-
Summer Concerts
thats only 2... the album will feature...um i think it was nine or ten... they've been playing six new songs on tour(though there was a show tonight and someone got back saying there was another new song, but it wasn't verified) and only two are on the album... thats a pretty substantial studio album then

Summer Concerts
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Yeah we talked about that in another thread. Too many weird bands in that for me. I like Indie stuff, but a lot of it is just weird for the sake of being different and not very good. But there a couple of cool bands on that bill. every festival has s***ty bands... however, andrew bird, broken social scene, death from above 1979, the wrens... ... i'm gonna put the decemberists because despite their 19th century topics they are a sensible band... these are normal bands... The Go! Team should be sweet live though.

Sutcliffe and Repsin just gushed about the Sox
It was cool driving to mizzou for orientation we had the cardinals game on and when they were reading the scores of the day, the mentioned the sox and then went on to talk for about 5 minutes about how impressive they were...so while we aren't getting national press...don't think we aren't noticed.. btw...st. louis' radio announcers were great, i enjoyed listening to them.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) That's exactly the problem, I'm gonna have to sit through bands I have no interest in. I got a pre-sale price of $35.00 total for both days. It's up to like $115.00 I think. Intonation baby...2 days for 22.00

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Looks like Sigur Ros tickets for Chicago will go onsale two weeks from now, most likely 7/16 sometime. New album due out in September. i was reading that the album will basically be all new songs from the studio, the new live songs they were playing weren't thought to make the cut on the album

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Im not a big Modest Mouse fan, but I am glad to hear that the venue is cool. 311 is playing there next month, I am thinking about trying to score some tickets even though it is sold out. walking up the scalpers were offering tickets that were less then i paid for....(no service charge) and considering it is gen ad i was kind of pissed... 311 is so awesome live, have fun there...try to go to the south end of the stage because then the band is playing with the city as its backdrop...its so breathtaking... Modest mouse was amazing too...let me plug that...that was the best show i've been to in a long long time and i've been to some good ones recently... best show since radiohead at grant park where they broke out true love waits
