man what a joy to have the announcers we have. I just sat back and enjoyed the game. Love how the crowd this year is as loud with 20k or 40k and that is a compliment. I just love seeing this from robert. And man, please board, ban me if I don't go see Luis Robert in person soon. It kills me I still haven't seen him live, I gotta get on this.

Colson hasn't shown much of that present power, but I've been impressed by how he's limited strikeouts. In his first 27 Pas, just 4 strikeouts to 3 walks (14%). Kath has been able to show off more XBH but to this point, but has 12 Ks in 27 PAs (44%). The good news for me, in this thread where I talk to myself, is I like a lot when young players show game power at young ages. But I also like when young players avoid high strikeouts. Put em together though, and you got yourself a stew.

is that a wilfred veras granny? One thing I've been wondering is if the competition level in ACL is higher than our expectations. This year most have struggled much more, but it also has a lot more college players than in the past where pioneer leagues usually sucked them up. Used to be succeeding in ACL meant pretty little, but now it may be a much better indicator they can handle the kanny jump. Just some thoughts.

Kevin Goldstein
I remembered just because I hoped he wasn't involved and had never seen an update and was pretty sour on him initially until his writing won me over. With how segmented luhnow kept his people i'm actually not surprised he was not involved.

I didn't quite remember goldstein as blogger, but he has added a very nice balance in fangraphs which had started to become a little too snarky with how even keeled he is. When sullivan left fangraphs was a tough read for me, but goldstein has been a must-read. I thought he would be kinda an arrogant prick but his writing is very much not that.

Is Vaughn turning into a legit ROY candidate?
I was really wrong about Jonathan India. His early minors were exactly what I was expecting of him and was quick to dismiss, and he's been exactly the guy in the majors that he popped up as in his junior year at florida. Kudos, big hit for Cincy there.

I'm back after vacation last week - thanks @BamaDoc for keepin' on. I'm a bit interested in Homer Cruz. He was competent in DSL a few years ago where he was 19. He K'd about 1 an inning and didn't have insane walks which in DSL basically makes you Cy Young. He was atrocious in Kanny to start the year but a lot were, and now in rookie ball he's done this in a small sample: 26.1 IP, 1 GS, 2.05 ERA and 39 Ks to 12 BBs. Was hopin he'd get tried out again in Kanny but not yet. Wonder what his stuff looks like now and if that pitching studio or whatever in AZ helped him.

yes, nobody should try to diminish the burdi pick. That 2016 draft was absolutely loaded, to me the lack of impact of that draft in part due to trying to supplement that fast 2016 start should be included with that years failure along with the big obvious one. The thread I put together on revisiting hostetler made it hard to overlook 2016, it overshadows the high volume of hte later drafts.

Wright has really dominated in AAA and he just had such a bad few innings in our first ST game that I ignored it which is why I'm actually intrigued here. It's the "hey that may have mattered" signal. Burdi man. Seeing what happened to his brother and how bad he has been post TJS, just seems like they weren't capable of doing to their arms what they were capable of doing to their arms.

We will see what this team is made of…
this is a good way of putting it. It's crazy though because the sox are definitely the team that's out there where I still don't really know what they are. The offense has had a number of different faces and succeeded without power and failed without power, and now failed with power and maybe soon succeed with power. The starting pitching has been dominant, the bullpen has never all been in a groove at once and the manager has not had a "ride the hot hand" philosophy. I could see the sox succeed in playoffs with just a dominant rotation and some timely hitting because I've seen them do that. I could see the offensive talent we have find a groove and take over and a dominant bullpen emerge where the starting pitching fades. This team does have a number of ways to make it work, but it also gets in funks where the mechanics of what's succeeding aren't quite in line. overall, I still think the lights turn on and TA leads off games with homers and eloy is back and we roll and have a good chance at the CS.

I also don't think this is the NBA where it's like "okay let's try harder". I don't necessarily think it's a switch, I just hope that a number of our players get hot at the right time.

We will see what this team is made of…
I mean the 2010 giants, 2017 yankees I didn't even think that hard.

We will see what this team is made of…
I mean the sox may not have a switch flipped, but lots of world series teams or teams deep in playoffs have a flip switch before and people didn't know the switch would flip. They are good, they have a lot of good players, but are in a bit of the doldrums which are incredibly frustrating and there is a chance they never shake out of it this season which would suck. But I think they will.

NFL 2021 offseason thread
see 2019 season. I think Georgia just couldn't look past fromm's rookie year where he seemed like he was going to be the next murray/stafford. He never really got better and it's such an easy offense to put the numbers he put up in. You always have incredible runningbacks and offensive line, and he's in the SEC East. I don't think anyone really takes it from the 2019 LSU tigers, that time was incredible, but hard for me to believe they aren't in at least the playoffs in 2019-20 if they didn't stay with Fromm.
