2021 MLB Draft Thread
Zack Collins has retained some value for longer and is very possible he could be traded for something like a middle reliever or other player. Pint can't be traded for anyone as he is retired. There should be some sort of "retained value" metric, because if a guy is good enough to be tried out in the majors even if he sucks it means he has retained some value throughout their minors, even if it would only be a C prospect, that is more value than a guy that is washed out in Single-A. Any attempt to value a draft should really try to break that out.

Yes! We got a board expert! I can't imagine there is a show that has been as impactful as DTS for a sport. But it does feel like racing has a high barrier to entry and as you mentioned the show uses driver drama as the cudgel to bring some of the other more technical parts of it. I feel like if premier league moved from having every team with a docuseries to a league wide show like this it could have similar impact. I have definitely been wondering if Chicago could put something together. Have they ever? It feels like they could put together a pretty good street track with so many wide streets where they could build out stands and fun areas to use around grant and maggie daley park. Show really makes me want to be rich so I can bring a Yacht to monaco though, I gotta tell ya.

And that is a Sox beat Jays winner!
Also hell yeah that crowd sounded as loud on the highlights as it was there. Was an absolute blast last night.

And that is a Sox beat Jays winner!
Just watched the highlights of Vaughns homer. 97 mph low and away, that is a great beat. Vaughn is gonna put together a hell of a second half, you can just feel him starting to put it together in bits and pieces. Still has long stretches of futility that feel like they are getting more productive and shorter.

Jays are fun. I would be unbelievably frustrated if I was them, they were smoking the ball all over the field and felt like they had a guy in scoring position every inning.

I 10000% agree

Same for almost all this. Lost tennis channel and missed out. One thing that feels similar to tennis is the relationship to the drivers, where I mostly like them all so each race is just seeing how they put it together. I’m going to check out that podcast. My favorite thing that kinda hooked me was learning how they keep updating the car throughout each week. That shit is so boring to my wife and so compelling to me.

Why would I avoid that? Now that I'm with other adults I can finally stand up to those bully second graders.

One way I know the sox are a great team again...
I feel like the long Boston globe story (was that cafardo) should be the authority on this. The rest is a bunch of loosely sourced rumors That had Moncada and Kopech as the agreed to pieces on the Friday before while sox were pushing for devers. Seems like the Monday night before it went down Hahn backed off devers and asked for Basabe + Diaz.

The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
I am super thrilled with how Nick has played this year. But, I feel reasonably convinced that had we drafted Kelenic he would be playing for a different org right now but we'd have a pretty amazing player in return. Not like the mets.

I'm a total poseur fan now. Hoping there is some formula one super fan I can learn stuff from. My wife got me into the Netflix docuseries and it went from "I never really liked racing but this show is great" to "I'll watch the highlights but I don't want to spoil the show" to "I am watching the qualifiers all day please shut up children" Literally shrieked in horror when Max Verstappen went into the wall on Sunday, and was as happy as a sox win when Gasly made it into top 3. Fun stuff. I'm a formula one expert now AMA.

How To Fix the Pen
I would separate that trade out a bit, I think there was a difference between Kahnle who had become an elite set-up guy and would become an elite set-up guy on the contending teams vs. Soria who was having a good year but was clearly a MR for contending teams.

One way I know the sox are a great team again...
Ha, yeah, that one I was really disappointed in. But part of that was just I followed the sox because my dad was an AL fan when they moved to chicago, which I mention to say history for the sox starts in the 90s for me. And I still think the sox are particularly bad at cultivating a shared history among their fans. Despite same circumstances for other sports in Chicago, I soaked up bears and hawks history with ease. And I guess its worth mentioning the other team that really doesn't have a history I could point to is the Bulls - who basically start in 1983 in my head. Maybe its a Reinsdorf thing? But I hoped I'd get to see some footage of what the 50s and early 60s white sox were like, since they were damn good every year, and see what comiskey looked like and just nothin. Was a huge bummer. Like the '64 sox were 98-64 and were 2nd place to the yankees by 1 damn game. Here is how much I know about the '64 White Sox : - My great uncle swears Norm Cash would have led to a sox dynasty and hates bill veeck's guts to this day.

Of course but when the white sox get press it's because they should get press but when the other teams get press its because they hate the white sox.
