this is not a bad idea. Vaughn used to pitch.

Which was typical gio last year. I wonder if some of the stuff he was working on to help him start games stronger is what messed him up?

I miss that sox comic strip. He'd have a lot of material.

At this point though, him meatball defending his players by throwing at the other team is like 1000x better, and I say that as someone who absolutely wants that out of the game. But it's like if tony went from robbing banks to just shoplifting batteries. Much better.

Nobody gives a shit about baldelli. What a pathetic attempt to grapple with your embarrassing defense of La Russa that you are trying to make Tony throwing his player under the bus okay because he didn't call out baldelli for defending his player...which you think is good, but even though apparently you think that you don't see how that applies to tony not defending his players Incredible pretzel you can hold your brain in.

I don't know. It's one of the reasons where I just want to draw a line. I don't really even mind if Tony doesn't like swinging 3-0 there, that's ok. He crosses into being an idiot when he airs that dirty laundry into the public, goes even farther by apologizing to the twins, and then drives off a cliff when he allows his player to be thrown at and actually says it's a good thing to do.

If I was Baldelli I'd do nothing. If I'm the league I'm fining baldelli and scrub pitcher If I'm TLR I stick up for nobody coming after my players And if I'm cranky TLR that actually is upset about my player not taking his sign, I'm addressing it in the clubhouse but not mentioning it to media.

Yes. It is one thing to be cranky about swinging 3-0 when you said to take, but to go so far as to be okay with another team punishing him for it? That is another level. In "family" dynamics, you can say something about your brother/family, but you don't let other people talk crap about it. Basically TLR going to the neighborhood kids and asking them to beat up his son because he didn't like how he talked back to him this morning.

If we want to get rid of TLR there is only one option. @Kalapse - make the Tony LaRussa soxtalk banner

It is remarkable but yes I am now okay if ozzie fell into the manager position this year. Extremely embarrassed.

Tony breaking the trust of his players will have consequences he must endure within the family. And my within the family I mean publicly and by members outside the family. It is therefore only fair that the sox players strategically place rakes constantly near where Tony is standing today to recreate the following:

I was super excited post-Ozzie when there was rumors that Konerko as player-manager was being considered. It may have never been real but come on. If there is one thing we have learned from the last few years of white sox baseball is that managers can only hurt baseball teams. You could hire a team dad and outsource in game management to text voting from the fans like it's love island and probably be around the same level as an mlb manager.

Unless a player is undermining the clubhouse and a jerk hurting the rest of the team while being a darling with the media... you always protect your players in public. Last night just confirmed this weird, weird time we are in: - We have a great, young, fun team that fights like hell for each other - Our owner whose main priority is making sure baseball labor doesn't make more than he thinks they should hired a manager whose main priority is making sure baseball players play the rules he thinks they should Not white sox players for either...baseball players. Then their second-order concern is, you know, if the white sox are good, great. But most importantly that everyone else know that they are standing up for how they think baseball should operate. With this fun, incredible team stuck in the middle. Ain't it always the way.

2 hits for adolfo, but pretty boring night. All the pitchers are like 28 in A ball or milb free agents

To be fair the book sorta did that too. Also made a high school pitcher a prime example of his scouts being dumb but he ended up having a decent career (forgot who, played for tigers during their lean years), while the catcher it lauded never did anything. It did predict a good career for youkilis tho. Still an awesome book, Michael Lewis when he has the goods is a great read.

Thibs was able to keep buy in from his players despite riding them into the ground for as long as he did by never selling them out in public. Tony should do the same. This is about feeding Tony’s ego, nothing to do with real discipline.
