ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))

Will be surprised if Eloy is even alive as we hear every sox twitter source falling over themselves to let us know they've heard, and boy, everyone is saying its bad. -
I'm just going to stick to this thread instead of the one-upping eloy injury rumors.

You know what is unrealistic but would be a pretty weird/fun team: Somehow getting brogdon
-
I really don't have any expectation for how this will all fit on the court, am excited to listen to the basketball podcasts on what people expect. I do 100% believe this should keep the bulls in the top 10 of the east, esp. with it seeming like Pacers may start selling. The raptors are really the only concern and they seem like a mess right now. The hawks/heat made their moves, so not much behind bulls that seem like they could scream past em.
-
Maybe, Markannen has gone back to just being a spectator though and I'm so annoyed/over that. I can't see us retaining him next year, but I could see us totally with Ball. So would rather get those signing protections.
-
The lottery is now much more favorable to everyone in it. If bulls are out of the top 8 in the east they still have odds to get top 4.
-
actually I'd say best case scenario is it's incredibly good.
-
I suppose it's possible they get one back for Young if they trade him. And I still think there could be a straight up Markkanen for Ball swap. Markkanen makes sense there.
-
woof. So no first rounder this year.
-
Yeah, I'd give me a break today, the bulls haven't made a trade like this since like...jalen rose? Does ole John pivot-foot Salmons count? I guess he was actually making team better. I'm ignoring Porter. Team building in NBA is interesting and just getting good guys definitely seems warranted over whatever this all was. But man I wanted a first rounder for this draft...bad.
-
not...not quite the same
-
Vucevic is definitely worth stuff like this, it's all about choices for the bulls, though. But we have certainly been doing the "just wait and see if it gets better" for a long time, though, I get that.
-
I don't know, I guess I may just be behind a bit in how NBA is starting to use bigs again, and bulls have obviously been destroyed over and over there. Give me a day of takes, I'm sorting through my feelings. Bulls don't really make trades I'm not sure what this feeling is.
-
that said I'm obviously going to watch this shit.

I don't really like this at all. I don't like paying premiums for B level players, there better be some really good protections for the 1st round picks especially this year. Now, I am not a basketball expert, and a lot of people dislike the way orlando has used players. But Vucevic is a good player, but now we don't have 2 1st round picks should there ever be a great player. We don't have a 1st to potentially draft a great player this year. We have Zach LAvine and Vucevic...so we may be the orlando magic. If they were able to keep this as a top 15 pick, that is easier to take. But also , f***g tank this year to not get top 8.

This is definitely my thing. I just don't believe the difference between foles or dalton and "worst case scenario" justifies the bears actions. Had they not traded for Foles, or not signed Dalton, what would be available in a month or two seems very comparable to those situations. I don't think Mariota takes the paycut if he knows the bears are out there waiting for a QB. It was horribly obvious that Dalton and Newton would get cut if there was no trade partner. And now, all signs pointing to Jets taking Wilson. I can't believe they'd keep Darnold. Is Darnold worse than Dalton - definitely/maybe. But he's not so much better he changes bears trajectory in any way. Other QBs possible to be dislodged post draft/june 1st: - Bridgewater (though I could see him being a bridge no pun intended) - Tua (unlikely) - Gardner Minshew - Nick Mullens/Jimmy G - Alex Smith All probably worse than Dalton to degrees that don't matter because Dalton isn't very good. But all could be much cheaper through various means, and that $5.5-$6 million could have been super handy to, say, re-sign Allen robinson or Kyle fuller.

Especially is he’s stashed in DR

Dylan Cease: 2021 Darkhorse Cy Young Candidate
bmags replied to MeanJoeCrede's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We were kinda worried about his stuff in 2018. His HS curve that people drooled over was gone, and his FB was now mid-90s. He also wasn't getting anyone to swing-and-miss. @fathom had a whole thing, where he would count how many he'd get a game and it was easy for him to do because there were only 1-2. But kudos to the people that believed in him with his height and makeup. All the sudden he completely revamps his windup, and now he has one of the highest swinging strike percentages among starters. It is incredibly rare what he accomplished. But hopefully lightning strikes twice. -
Remember when you predicted they wouldn't be able to allow in crowds until august

I feel like the nba trade deadline has been tomorrow for a few weeks.

So IL released 16k appointments at noon today and I was part of that group. This is just an annoying situation but obviously I'd be first to tell you that I've been happy overall so many more people have gotten the vaccine by this point than I expected in Jan. But it was like one of those dream sequences where you need to do something but are physically unable or dumb stuff keeps happening to prevent you. An hour of pages not loading, keeping track of the network requests to see when they timed out and starting again, random times appearing visible when they aren't, and finished up by me finally getting to form to secure the time and my wireless suddenly dropping, causing the page to error out, and could not be refreshed. Will try again another day.

Alright I'm pro-Trask now.
-
Mond's highlights are just full of him sitting behind a perfect pocket throwing to an open receiver, but that said, he has a lot of tools that makes you think he could do more, and I like that he got better every year in the SEC. I 'd just rather they get a guy with some higher ceiling with athleticism or arm talent, but then again, the later round guys that have made hay out of it like Dak or Cousins were probably more like a Trask than someone like Mills who I can't think of someone like that really doing much. But it only takes one for there to be a comp that everyone tries to replicate.
