How the Phillies Rebuild failed
Sox and Phil’s to me were in same place in 2018 offseason. Luckily in 2019, Giolito, Moncada established themselves as stars and Robert put himself on the map. The Phil’s never had that

How the Phillies Rebuild failed
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30442797/how-philadelphia-phillies-botched-their-rebuild-tells-us-tanking%3Fplatform%3Damp Interesting to reflect on them. Also is Sam Miller’s last article for espn. I think part of this is even if the Phillies farm was ranked second...it really lacked high end talent. It seemed like the surprise of Hoskins made it seem like there was more there than there was. I think main issue is Phillies started hitting the gas too early, but they are a weird team. As the article gets into, a lot of their guys they depend on are performing well! But they both lack depth and also depth alone probably doesn’t get them over the top. They likely need one or two more excellent guys - and it’s not clear where they come from. I think if I were them I’d let Realmuto go, and trade Nola and Howard, and make a 2019 twins rotation out of the guys on the market.

Kyle Schwarber signs with Nationals: 1 year 10mil
living in Chicago, I don’t hear people talk about Schwarber like this anymore. Mostly frustrated that he stalled like the rest did. Schwarber was a surprise non tender, mlb writers wrote about. It all seems pretty normal. Schwarber may not be a starting outfielder, but he’s a pretty good DH candidate.

Kyle Schwarber signs with Nationals: 1 year 10mil
I guess I’m not really impressed calling someone overrated after they’ve been non tendered? Nobody has overrated Schwarber for years. If you were on this in 2015 maybe it would be more interesting. It’s pretty easy to understand why people were infatuated with him. He performed really well really young and they thought he’d get better - but he got worse. But as it is he’s still a good bat, and cheap.

You guys are really mad that cubs fans got excited about a hitter that came up and performed great in big playoff games.

Marcus Semien
Poor guy. I wish him the best. when Sox trade madrigal he’ll be a great option.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
He was also having an incredible 2018 until Abreu hit a comebacker off his ankle and broke it.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
This is a white sox specific view. But his 2019 was still very productive, its a top 30 pitcher due to the innings he's provided. The benefit to the white sox is their salaries are going to grow with their young players, so a short term deal would take a lot of the % of our salaries, but then we aren't paying an underperforming guy in 4 years when we need to re-sign a tim anderson. If it's a short term deal, I don't think sox would even struggle to trade him at 2019 value if it isn't working out.

Sam Miller was let go too.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
The AAVs were proposed were what he may sign for a shorter year commitment. If Gerrit Cole was a free agent this year and said he'd only sign a 1 or 2 year deal, he'd make more than his 36 million. The point which everyone else followed was that he views himself as a top 5 pitcher, so you may be able to avoid a long-term commitment if you hit an AAV that puts him there. If you are going 6 years, nobody is saying he'd be getting a greinke deal.

It seems you have just heard of trevor bauer this year and are trying to lecture other people about him.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
In 2018 he had a 2.21 ERA and has had over 200 strikeouts for 3 years straight.175 IP for 4 years straight. Also nobody said he'd make over 300 million or even 200 million.

Len Kasper is new White Sox radio play by play announcer
what many posters here want is a company that can learn how to play their inner monologue over the white sox broadcast.

Weird Trade Ideas
You'd lose bogaerts next year and be paying him a lot this year. I don't mind Eovaldi flyer, say we don't give up that much pitching. We'd get to use Eovaldi as he was when he was his most vlauable to the red sox.

I'm with you. From 2019 to 2020, Kikuchi's: K% went from 16% to 25% FB Velocity went from 92.5 to 95 mph doubled the whiff % on his fastball cut his barrel % in half, increased his GB% over 50% His ERA was over 5, his FIP was 3.3, his xERA was 3.17. I do think you could get him for less, but if he pitches to his true numbers last year you end up with an affordable contract you hold for next 4 years.

I don't think they like Gleybars D but madrigal would give them salary relief at 2b and improved defense (lol no idea), which can get them to spend on pitching OR Realmuto.

Yeah phillies have a few guys I've circled. Problem is I have no idea where that FO is going to take things. They seem to have an angry owner! But like, not much to do except spend thru it or send out some of guys they've signed. I'm kinda interested in a reclamation project of Velasquez. I don't know why they haven't shelved his curveball. He's got too many pitches. But there's a lot there. Maybe bullpen role can make him.

Here's my psychoanalysis of bauer and I believe I'm right. This free agency is about validation for Bauer. He sees himself as a top pitcher. He's saying all the right things to not let baggage drag him down. He's put in a ton of work and this is an area where he expects to see the feedback live up to that. So if you give him a one year deal that makes him the best paid pitcher in baseball? I think he'd sign it. Meaning, if you put 1 yr $38 million on the table? That makes him higher paid than trout, and I think he'd sign it. So then you have to think about AAVs or total salary. Top AAVs by pitcher Cole - $36 million AAV Total $324 mill Scherzer - $35.9 million AAV // Total $210 million Greinke - $35 million AAV // Total $206.5 million Strasburg - $35 million AAV // Total $245 million Verlander - $33 million AAV // Total $66 million Price - $32 million AAV // Total $217 million He thinks he's a top 5 pitcher. These are top 5 pitcher salaries. I don't think anyone is getting him the $200+ million this year. But it's possible he gets a 4 yr deal if they put him at $35 mill or above. My .02. This is going to seem high to people, but I still think he hits these levels of $30 mill +

throw some good stuff out for my tradeheads. Anyone can propose our top prospects for good players! Let's get to the hard stuff: trades that are very unlikely and nobody feels that strongly or good about. Potential Teams: Oakland As - The As have a lot of free agents and two very bad contracts that may prevent them from re-signing players like Semien and la stella. Trade: White Sox Get: Khris Davis (1 yr/ $16.5 mm) Chris Bassett (1 yr / 4.5?) As get: Salary relief to sign Semien, go after SPs like Mike Leake and Hamels, and sign Hanser Alberto Zach Collins Isaiah Carranzo Yankees Nobody ever wins trades with the yankees since the white sox acquired our dear sweet Jose Contreras. This trade will make people angry! White Sox Get: Gary Sanchez Mike Tauchman Yankees Get Nick Madrigal White sox get a player at his lowest value in Sanchez, whom they can use as DH until vaughn comes, and if he recovers have a cracker jack DH/C/1b rotation. Tauchman gets them a nice, cheap RF platoon against RHP pitchers. He was also down last year, but still had a good wRC+ against RHP and if he gets back to 2019 then he's a great option since he was not a platoon guy. Yankees keep Sanchez from signing with a rival in Tampa, get his salary off books, and replace Lemahieu with a cheap option and diversify their offensive attack.
