  1. Well, if cheating started in 2017 as was documented, he was 19 over .500 and won a play-in game against the yankees before losing to the WS royals. The year before he took over they were 22 games under .500. That 2015 roster wasn't very good.
  2. Came out last winter, then DB dropped out of soxfest.
  3. This where I'm at. Saying Hinch means no bauer is a weird exercise. If sox are willing to pay highest amount to bauer, they'll land him - hinch or not. Bauer is clearly viewing FA as validation of his work.
  4. I think you should speak with less certainty here
  5. anyone publicly angling for the job should be disqualified.
  6. Not a household name I guess
  7. Really? They promoted teh hell out of that.
  8. I've been very confused by the suggestions of managers still under contract with other teams. But yeah, Tito should hang it up at least until CV is mitigated.
  9. Robert is a better defensive CF. You are getting the same production regardless so this is just worsening your team for no reason. Engel would be a plus RF so at least you have premium outfield defense.
  10. I'm fine with a first time manager if we stop treating the manager as the single decisionmaker on what happens on the field. Cash, Baldelli were first-year guys who are part of a system. Hinch was more successful when part of a system, that he knows what that should be like is a plus. If we hired a Quatraro and asked him to be a buck showalter, mike scioscia type manager we will be in the same situation.
  11. Yeah I have to say that La Russa's persistent drunk driving gave me more of a visceral reaction than Hinch. BUT - I'd prefer they go elsewhere.
  12. All the best managers recently were largely first time managers as it's moved from getting someone who knows baseball to letting the FO handle that and get a guy the players trust and respect. The superstar manager is dead, sox don't need one. If they really want previous experience, LAD bench coach Bob Geren who has held the role for the WS appearing mets and now dodgers after an unsuccessful run as As manager during the 07-11 years. But I stand by wanting Quatraro.
  13. Can't remember exact scenario but Ozzie thought coop went behind his back to keep his job when it was clear things were going south with Ozzie. Ozzie's last few years were really ugly and I can't believe how much support he still has here. I want a manager I don't have to think about.
  14. I think KW/Hahn have been slowly but surely modernizing their operations since 2017 and the last step of that is a more integrated front office/coaching system. Getting someone the players will respect while also being capable of effectively carrying out the plans of the FO/scouts is the job now. That said, I think what they also saw is Rick's supreme optimism was helpful keeping a bunch of young players struggling from cratering mentally during the rebuild years. Recall an Engel story after K'ing on a slider on 3 pitches coming back to the dugout to RR saying "it's okay kid that was a tough pitch" and him thinking "you know that was just a great pitch". Especially for an Engel who was allowed to struggle and develop in majors, RR was likely the perfect manager. But that wasn't the team he had anymore. In a rebuild, showing you believe in a pitcher like Rodon or Ruiz in a tough situation may be helpful long-term in showing that player they are still depended upon and having the manager's confidence could mean a lot. But the sox are now in the short-term. So no I don't think it's anything about Reinsdorf specifically and more that they gave ricky a new team but he was still managing it the exact same.
  15. I would say that prioritizing interview performance over known previous performance in a similar job is also bias and also a dangerous one.
  16. So should the white Sox be responsible to enforce a stricter punishment than MLB decided on?
  17. I’d guess Tim Bogar may get some run, was in the hunt for the Mets last year. Long time minor league manager and been around the staffs with Dave Martinez. My top guy would be quatraro with the Rays. Indians were a much better hitting team when he was there, and long time run in TB.
  18. Has anyone made the ned yost joke yet?
  19. Noice. I’d put odds of hiring Hinch at zero if the commish is against it. If manfred wants them assimilated back, then JR would probably be the one to do it.
  20. Much respect using the old school RT
  21. Ok so I hate to do this but I’ve been on the road all day can someone give me some choice bits since I know at this point that really and coop were let go
  22. According to sox, since 2017 they’ve increased collaboration between scouting, player dev and front office. Maybe this is about to be the takeover of that collaboration to on the field. Jirachele possible.
