  1. Stuff like this, just can’t stop thinking about his family. So hard to watch someone that young deteriorate before you. RIP
  2. If we get through soler I feel ok
  3. Easily I’d trade that. any chance marlins trade their SP (Pablo Lopez?) Timeline May be more favorable to them to trade him now.
  4. If I’m mets no way in hell im trading them without high level pos players back. If I’m sox I do this 10x over
  5. McMillan said he's taking a year off.
  6. I always thought Mendick could be a Saladino role. He's a bit better offensively, worse defensively, but all around solid. That's still how I see him. The power is really nice to have.
  7. my first thought as well. I'm still a little nervous about TA going down most. Jose Iglesias whom I wanted as our UTIL guy and I think we didn't have a shot at because he wanted to be a starter is having a great year in Baltimore. It sucks not having a way to get players after next week, but I wish we had a better backup to TA. (don't tell me Yolmer.)
  8. basically we are just paying dyson. That's the return to the pirates who are probably stripping copper out of their building to raise extra cash at this point.
  9. Lynn has been a very good pitcher most of his career with really only one “bad” year that would have made him our second best starter last year (and it was his first in AL). Dude has a career 3.5 ERA
  10. I was wondering about that, how has their new park played? Too early?
  11. To elaborate, a pitcher like Lynn is going to be available. He’s great, no doubt. But if I’m trading some of the biggest chips we have left I want guys that aren’t easily available. That’s degrom. And Is say he’s not available anyway. Nor clevinger. but you gotta go for the big gains at this point.
  12. I’m fine trading kopech and Madrigal but want more impact. Once they are gone you don’t get those bullets back. I do wish we’d stop throwing dalquist and Thompson around as part of our pitching depth. I am fans as pucks, but we are talking about kids we haven’t even see pitch above rookie ball. There’s a long way to go before they are even the value you’d want to trade.
  13. Interesting...if I’m mets I feel like I’d want a top position player. It’s a strong offer though.
  14. I have gotten that they generally expect to follow their regimens for health and development. They'll let them seek outside help, but not block sox own coaching.
  15. Trevor Bauer is a whole different type. He feels (and isn't wrong) that he is self-made as a pitcher. He has a way he works. Sale was just competitive/stubborn about opportunities. But if Coop left Bauer alone i'm sure it'd be fine.
  16. Any upgrades we get I'd want to be substantial, too hard of a year to gauge market correctly for marginal updates.
  17. That's what I was hoping. I was confused by the person stating their testing represented 13% of the national testing assuming that meant they were including it in those numbers. I'd hope IL keeps testing to their public/private venture and at least separate out U of I.
  18. We could just re-sign Clevinger.
  19. I'm not sure we know yet since that dashboard only has data loaded to the 24th and that's when classes started in earnest.
  20. and I'm guessing that means the Illinois testing numbers are mainly just reflecting massive testing in champaign. At least will/st louis metro snapped back. I was hoing for scale that there would be enough local hospitals/clinics that had equipment that could be used (my local doc office has blood/urine testing on site) that there could be partnerships created. Especially could be helpful to the local GPs who have been hurt during covid. But yeah, again, the ability of the USG to help in scale, even if clunky, is a massive missing piece and it's just hard to follow this stuff at this point because the individual actors have taken this about as far as they can go, but when a good idea comes about it doesn't have the resource to push it out nationally so what's the point in getting excited about a breakthrough?
  21. Right I think every 3 days. We are finally capable of entering a stage of mass, rapid testing. Between what U of I has done, Yale/NBA and now Abbott, we have multiple ways to rapid saliva test cheaply on existing technology. This is once again where I'll state that a functioning federal government could actually get us to a point of using this much faster. At the bare minimum, though much cheaper ($5-%10/test compared to $100) it is still costly on businesses/gov'ts already hit hard. That funding relief needs to happen. And, maybe not having a CDC advise that testing isn't necessary if you've come into contact with a COVID-19 pos person right before we are able to test more reliably. And there is so much more to help all of the individual actors get the knowledge and resources they need to have it so American's can be reliably tested through their work/school/place of worship that likely will not happen, and when some of those actors don't do as good of a job, people will blame them rather than the absence of a fed government. Incredibly frustrating.
  22. Definitely a big change in board sentiment is now people gleeful that another team was duped into thinking Quintana was good when during the 2016/17 offseason and season it was mostly rage posting at the Astros to pound sand if they didn’t think Quintana was the ace he was! Quintana was a great pitcher for us, It sucks to me that he is now a punch line. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a career renassaince and finds his effectiveness once again.
