  1. I agree, just a few days ago I was talking about now overvaluing control over talent. But of the rumored names, there isn't anyone that concerns me on that side. These are high level talents.
  2. that makes sense.
  3. sometimes the value to acquire isn't a sliding scale. Giants are "competing" for a playoff spot and have a lot of resources as an org that may not care for a mid-level guy instead of just making a run of it.
  4. However, we can't just throw out every prospect as if they are equal value, and poo poo away 3 years of control for some of these players and cry that it's not 5 years. The difference between Kopech and Dunning and Stiever varies. And for the next 3 years we need a lot more guaranteed production.
  5. It wouldn't be 6 years of Kopech. And god, the "12 years combined" stuff. is maybe the worst new measure sox fans have. Again, what if Kopech is still working on command next year and stiever is a dud? Does the 6 years mean anything at that point? I swear the new banner for this board should just be sox fans fondling a 2024 calendar.
  6. All this "mortgaging our future" talk...has there been a single piece mentioned that doesn't have at least another year of control?
  7. I think the rangers were probably hurt a bit by the clevinger stuff. Dynamic changes when you are now holding the second best piece.
  8. yes.
  9. I remember when our resident media expert was yelling at everyone that the Twitter reports of philly on Wheeler were just made up agent leverage and Philly had no money to sign him.
  10. I mean, there is very little reason to believe there is much to this Hader/woodruff rumor. Just as likely we have some weird deal for Brett Anderson and a BP piece. We have an annual trade agreement to send a bullpen piece to the brewers.
  11. If I wake up and a trade was announced at midnight I’ll be so pissed. Nobody is allowed to discuss anything while I’m sleeping.
  12. They didn’t really trade a top prospect other than Trammel. They had a much deeper farm than us. Not a fan of their moves but not burning it down imo
  13. That FO has been straight up brilliant and yeah if I’m a brewers fan I’d expect Vaughan.
  14. Hope so...
  15. Yeah that’s how I felt. Maybe...maybe giants with gausman
  16. Trammels been traded twice in 12 months, wouldn’t be surprised if he is one of the highly ranked guys whose star has long since fallen among scouts
  17. I will say I also kinda wtf’d the Gallen-Chisholm trade last year and it ended up being some of the bigger impact guys moved
  18. Nothing makes you realize you don’t follow baseball that closely like when two west coast teams finalize a massive multi player deal and the only name you recognize was a prospect from Cincinnati last year.
  19. Is it bad I had never heard of Austin Nola until today?
  20. Amazing how online we all were that we all posted the same question within a minute
  21. Wasn’t he moved to Schaumburg on Friday?
  22. So because the late night crowd isn’t as mean... would the marlins trade Pablo lopez? Move out a pitcher close to arb for some guys that better fit the timeline?
  23. Ugh, my kids finally go to bed and all the fun stops per usual
  24. I agree he has a big target in his back for a trade target, missed the origin of the marte stuff. If we are trading heuer just feels like he’d go to the mil/cle teams that are ostensibly trying to retool while still competing.
  25. I feel like it’s really weird for the Dbacks to dump all their guys and ask for a current reliever back
