  1. I think Great Falls is the only goner, but obviously a chance some of these leagues go
  2. Man I’m loving focusing on Major League Baseball but getting a prospect list* like this makes me miss getting 6 box scores a day and following these guys. *albeit one filled with guys I’m already able to watch up here
  3. Man I love having McCann and Grandal. 2 years ago it would be friggen Soto trying to get Dunning through that.
  4. Phew. sucks to have Alberto mondesi beat you but that could have been much worse. Way to buckle down DD
  5. They are the same in that they aren't hard to work around when they don't work out and they aren't working out but we are supposed to sacrifice the rest of the team so we can get, like, maybe a good year out of a player before he becomes a free agent.
  6. Trade Trade and not really anything wrong with the Frazier trade he was fine. Give me a 3 WAR player in RF with lowsalary, seems good! 35 y.o. 38 y.o. I know you were deeply scarred by the samardjiza trade but you'll notice a lot of playoff teams do indeed add players each year. And when you need to get rid of a player you just get rid of them. Every player now rumored on soxtalk: "Am I willing to spend the rest of my life with this person?"
  7. We missed out on quality players that would have helped us this year, like had we signed Lance Lynn (as @Chicago White Sox advocated at the time), they were not blocking any "top prospects" they were blocking yolmer sanchez. You are only rebuilding until you aren't. Nelson Cruz, etc. Smart investments in good players that were available would have paid off. And now we are still apparently trying to have a bad player "payoff" for some reason while within the competitive window. Go figure.
  8. I think the board has tended to struggle with players that are clearly better than what we have but not top 5 level. The good news about getting Joc for this team as opposed to 2015/16 is we aren't signing him and expecting him to propel us to the playoffs. We'd be just adding a good player to our core of excellent players. People are better at this with pitchers but last few years people would look at players that were clearly better but still be like "no I think Yolmer Sanchez can basically be that (and he'd put up his 79 wRC+ and the other person would put up 105-110).
  9. He’s been 30% better vs RHP than Mazara and last I checked our lineup wasn’t getting hurt against left handers so who cares? Cool, go for springer! But that doesn’t mean that, as you stated, Pederson isn’t much better than Mazara
  10. This is true. Relievers have been getting paid really well in arb. I mean we paid Colome nearly 20 mill over 2 years. We’d be getting control and a discount but not a large one.
  11. Joc has been 30% better offensively over his career than Mazara and 20% better this year. That is much of an improvement
  12. Honestly I thought he’d be good defensively just BECAUSE he was so fast, but nobody ever talked about his defense the way they do about Christian Pache or the like. His defensive instincts and jumps are really good, he’s not just fast. His defense has been a surprise in how plus it’s been to me.
  13. things I absolutely hate on twitter: using user handles or hash tags rather than just using their names and including a link at the end. I though the dodgers knocked sox out of top five because I wasn’t doing the correct mapping-to-a-marketing-brand. Still not as bad as “wow you wouldn’t believe the homer by @hatmanxtc98878 last night!”
  14. Bummer - has a nerve issue, just hope he returns before october Rodon - throwing in Schaumburg, hopefully next week GG - should be next week too This info was mostly shared in RHs recent press conference after trade deadline passed.
  15. The amount of ho-hum 4-hit games anderson is collecting is insane. But...let's talk about that damn home run from Robert. Holy freaking crap. HOLY FREAKING CRAP. I'm not sure it's possible to appear to hit a ball harder off the plate. That was Pujols 2005 v. Astros territory.
  16. Just want to post hahahaHhahahha god damn it this kid is Sooooo good
  17. Shoutout to @Harold's Leg Lift low key news drops
  18. I really hope him going max effort brings back that electric stuff I saw in his first 2 innings of his first few starts, but hard to watch him recently. If bullpen brings his velo up to 97-98 and just doing fastball/slider combo he could pan out there.
  19. I don't know about ace but Kyle Hendricks had a really good first promotion, and in 2014 Arrieta had started to become Arrieta. So he wasn't a prospect, but they had some reason to believe they'd have 2 good pitchers at that time.
  20. Reynaldo had that incredible arc of a flawed player being followed by soxtalk. Step 1 - Yell at any prospect writers who say he could be a bullpen arm and has trouble with command and keeping his velocity over multiple innings. Step 2 - Trash him in every start Step 3 - Still manage to put a placeholder era of 3.5 for each upcoming season expecting him to be good Step 4 - Trash him every start for having no command and failing to hold his stuff, demand he be placed in bullpen or DFAd Step 5 - Yell at any prospect writers who allude that a different sox prospect may have limitations.
  21. I'll just say this season has vindicated all of my opinions about [insert topic].
  22. Incredibly lucky over multiple starts, I agree.
