  1. with it being like 2 weeks since the phase 2 really got out of control I wouldn't be surprised if some modification of behaviors changed around then. Economic indicators show it. Hopefully it turns out that way by you, and then the indoor lockdowns get things on track for august.
  2. This is the sound of me sighing just a little bit of relief.
  3. Was worried these would show up
  4. this guy does a good job of collecting the reports Regarding immunity, we may still get much better at treating it. The antibody treatments are on track to be approved by September, looking at the length of time it took remdesivir to a reasonable level it should be available to some degree in nov/dec
  5. That seems to be the opposite of how that article reads.
  6. There are so many tools that have yet to be deployed especially at the national level. To say that we "can't" do anything is false. One - many reasons people on't wear masks in certain places is lack of uniformity. It is in many places an individual business decision, or a county decision or a state decision. If you don't have to wear a mask in the places you normally go to, then you are told you have to wear a mask here - you may get mad. The other places don't require masks, why are they? If you have one rule it will work. To say people haven't been convinced is asinine, how many more people wear masks compared to April? But you know what? It's still confusing! I don't wear masks on walks. But the state of Illinois and Chicago tweets are showing pictures of people on walks outside saying "wear a mask when you leave". There has been a huge failure to communicate best practices because there is no national policy. That's confusing, and when people are confused they will just fall back to what they are used to. Two - We actually are in a better place to fight this in March. Remember in March when we looked at who was getting infected by age group in the US compared to South Korea and realized we weren't picking up any of the 20-50 cases who undoubtedly had it but could not get tested? We are picking that up now. What we don't have despite it being much more the key to success in countries that controlled this, equal to masks and mores than lockdowns, is quarantining. We don't provide resources or guidance on quarantining, and we end up destroying entire neighborhoods in the process. Saying we are on the path to herd immunity is stupid, because we aren't. People on their own in the outbreak zones are going out less. Not all of them, but less. That's a fast way to economic ruin.
  7. If you don’t see/hear Yermin coming that’s on you
  8. Yikes. My mom works at a Walgreens in South Carolina. Ran out of FMLA we used so she could watch her grandparents. No good place to go now really. Not unless you can send your parents to Taipei or Hanoi
  9. You know a name I haven’t seen a lot of? Burdi. Has he been in big camp or expected in Schaumburg?
  10. Illinois needs to go back to phase 3 immediately. 1300 cases today. The problem consistently with reopening is it signals that things are back to normal and people start taking bigger risks and taking off their masks.
  11. Hard to overemphasize how important stuff like this was to teenage me.
  12. In illinois and Indiana testing really will be easy. I recommend going to state-run facilities as I experienced and other anecdotal experience they seem to be consistently faster in turnaround than some private labs like the CVS drive thrus. In texas/florida right now, not so much.
  13. * external event leading to massive suppression of salaries * Reinsdorf: Rick I think this offseason let’s again try to find the exact equilibrium of supply and demand for some marquee free agents.
  14. I think they just wanted to hit their regional games contracts. I am not that into the development angle. They played almost 80% of their season, and the hardpart comes later. I think if they can get some organized scrimmages that makes sense, but to throw these zombie teams together, I don't know. Now if it was playing to be in the nba next year I'm in. Last two spots become Dleague.
  15. A surprisingly very good day for illinois. Yesterday had a 2.9% pos rate but was the first day to actually show the drop from idph being closed on 7/4, with only 18k tests and a 620 cases announced. Today then sees a lower 587 case count with 28k tests processed, a 2.1% rate. That actually lowers the 7 day to 2.5%. The state really needs to get through this month under 3 before its test and trace program is up and running. So every day is fingers crossed.
  16. They can do that without threatening to show me boylenball
  17. The second bubble is the absolute worst idea. Why even take away focus from the playoffs anyway?
  18. Right, and the takeaway from the seattle series was that the sox had really promising pitching that would continue to pair with the offense moving forward. Then the really rough growing pains/injuries of wells, garland, biddle, parque, barcelo, rauch, wright, etc ...
  19. I realize with DC you can kinda co-opt all of america since its the capital but kinda weird since geographically very little linkage. But then again there are no bears in chicago. Or wizards in dc...
  20. So desean jackson should be released. I'm not sure you could parody a more antisemitic thing than that, honestly.
  21. For me I'd have illinois in a modified phase 3 with much more leniency on outdoor activities but would not allow the indoor restaurants/bars that are allowed now.
  22. The difference is Illinois gets a lot more international traffic than indiana, wisconsin or any other neighboring state both due to its economy but also being a hub for several airlines. Being in that first group with a lot of cases was going to be more crippling than those that are seeing bad cases now. They were incapable of testing anyone but those already hospitalized, there was less PPE, there was less treatment knowledge, and less knowledge of spread. We are fortunate to even know there are this many cases in TX and FL among young population, that was not the case in March. So yeah, among those early hit states Illinois did very favorably when you compare it to DC and NYC metro that received a lot of the European traffic.
