I'm going to be honest: while I'm glad there is pushback against the 5 round draft (there should have been a gradual raising of limits for certain number of UDFAs to get bonuses of at least 100k or more, or a separate pool), I don't think enough people are admitting that these are extraordinary circumstances. They have already committed to paying their players salaries despite possibility of not playing, so to then commit additional money in a year of possibly huge negative cash flows IS difficult, even aside from the idea that they haven't had the traditional scouting available. It sucks for this years draft class. But it sucks for the vendors of the stadium. It sucks for the millions now unemployed. It sucks for the hospital workers putting lives at risk. They hit a once in a century phenomenon, but there are worse things going on. It's hard for me to look at this in the traditional labor/mgmt lens.

To be quite honest, the government literally shut down their business and said it cannot operate right now. That is the correct move. So I have a hard time being indignant when we are talking about them getting access to loans from that same government so that they do not go bankrupt and shed thousands of jobs. Again - if we have an issue with them getting US labor and access to US markets without being US company, it can be solved at a time where millions are not joining unemployment. The loans to these companies are very likely to be paid back.

What? If you have no revenue, and then take out a loan you then pay your staff and liabilities with that loan, and if you do that without layoffs you don't have to pay the loan. They have an option to hire back people by a certain date to be eligible if they did do furloughs.

Except the loans are expected to be forgiven. They are using SBA because there is infrastructure in place to get the money out.

The bill went from crap to very good in 2 days, and another phase is going to pass. Schumer did very good.

The entire bill was not the checks. It included a huge expansion of UI benefits which provided states benefits + $600/week. It expanded the qualifications for UI to include self employed and contractors, who will get a fully fed funded amount since states/employers can't fund that. They are getting 1/2 state amt + $600. So if you are laid off, you are getting very near your full amount, plus the check. UI is delayed but should be faster than end of may for many. Small businesses can apply for SBA loans and re-hire staff to get things like rent/utilities/payroll provided by gov't. So it's not just a check .

Very good that support was added for those coming from self-employment/contractor work. Feds picking up full bill (since states do not pay that out) at a level that will keep people afloat.

Cam has often had terrible offenses where he was the whole thing. Foles has been asked to just be a part of a broader offense. Two years ago under the Turners they modernized their offense and cam had a good season with better accuracy.

We may be looking at 20-25% unemployment in many states...waste is a secondary concern. The $600 per week for unemployment insurance plus expanding that group is huge. Businesses can put employees on furlough and bring them back in four months, and that group can just stay home and pay their bills.

I assure you that whatever debt crisis would come will not be close to as bad as the unemployment numbers we will see on Thursday. waste is the least of our worries right now. Better to be wasteful and fast than targeted and slow.

2008s response was clearly inadequate, this situation is in short term worse, I don’t see how this is a bad thing. The other 4 trillion of it even is that is from what I understand just hypothetical loans, and that was paid back in 2008.
