While I think what the president is saying about chloroquine and remsidivir(?) very irresponsible... I can’t take the side of “he should just wait for the FDA” after this debacle. At the very least, the gov should ensure mass production of those drugs with the assumption they work, so if they do they can be administered at scale. It is good that there are no roadblocks for doctors to prescribe either of these hydrochloroquine as long as their is availability, but if a new drug shows promise, the fda is going to put it on like a 2 year schedule.

ESPN: MLB looking at May start, all games in AZ, several changes
I don’t know guys. These feel like pretty surmountable obstacles. For instance, there is an AZL, and a professional baseball team in Phoenix.

Bad and good news today. While it dropped to 899, we still seem to be ascending, now around 900-1000 new cases per day compared to 400-500 last week. The good news - we seem to be comfortably at 5k tests per day. That is the 50% point of the 10k tests per day goal.

My sons first baseball game was vs brewers, Palka hit a GW 3 run homer. Even watching Palka would bring joy.

For some distraction and to take this seriously, the interesting implications are the Sox and Twins now having most of the season with their pitching depth Twins will start with hill, but lose a bigger chunk with Pineda. Sox can comfortably bring up kopech, not worry about innings, and will have Rodon within a month. Gio also had some more time to rest and a shorter season to manage. And with cease as well, no innings restrictions worry.

It makes me more confused tbh. The crowd noise is perfectly in sync with the call. I have no radio experience but doesn’t seem like they could match it up so fast.

I agree with you just saying Gates is basically the one billionaire who has used his wealth in an extraordinary way for the public.

I mean the gates foundation has been an incredible asset for public health. It’s cool that they are doing this but this should be a us government function.

wow, i want to hear it now. Sounds unbelievable the crowd noise wouldn't be noticeable. But it was definitely his best call ever and the one of the world series.

So I made this yesterday, if we smoothed it out, it's definitely still increasing but only doubling around every 4-5 days at this point. Tests wise, still way short of 10k a day. Averaging up only around 4k. Excited for numbers here in 20 minutes.

You are acting like because a governor is criticizing a response they are also being vindictive in refusing to work with the admin. They are working with them every day and on conference calls every day with the cdc and others in the admin seeking clarity and making requests. They aren't refusing to work with trump, they ARE working with him. The question is whether they are allowed to point out deficiencies in the response, I guess?

I'm glad we've found the real problem we need to overcome: governors not being nice enough to Trump.

I saw an idea that frontline workers should be able to collect the unemployment benefits in addition to their salary which I think makes sense, but they should also be able to access medicare regardless of income level (should any warehouse or truck driver exceed threshold but lack insurance)

Also, just to be clear, when the fed is "injecting liquidity", they aren't just handing out money to businesses. Banks are trading in good treasuries and getting dollars to pay out short term obligations, including helping firms meet payroll.

I just think this is the best Fed Reserve in our lifetimes. The action they have taken has been more correct and faster than certainly 2008. Powell has been the most responsive to the dual mandate of any FED since the economists took over. But more, the stock market is down, and it already lost 1/3rd of it's value in a month. But more, I think it's just a reality that much of the growth of the last 4 years has come from the top companies. And those are also the least likely to be hurt by this growth and likely will benefit (maybe not apple, but then again, maybe it gets their terrible streaming off the ground). So I'm not shocked.
