I have not found Amazon to have plenty. We have made homemade bleach spray, but I definitely want some wipes as they are helpful and convenient to wipe down packages and groceries.

Yeah same here. I have heard healthcare is being prioritized for all of it but not sure who is coordinating that?

That was very early on, he was behind only Ohio and San Fran in shutting things down at restaurant level, and then only oak park led illinois in the stay at home orders. The partnership between mayor and governor has been good, and their communication has been very good.

And this is all looking strictly at preliminary numbers. There are three critical failures it is unclear the Feds are responding responsively to right now: 1. Shortage of PPE/supplies - was apparent early on in Seattle, and they are still shuffling their feet in not activating dpa 2. Lack of testing - Terrible decisions early on by FDA and CDC that have been now compounded by 1 as there is a lack of supplies to keep going. 3. Lack of capacity - this is being most mitigated now but still seems to get consistently screwed up in how much the military can provide. Natl guard at state level has been incredible. Obviously, the worst part is now the military bases themselves. So away from the messaging, these are ongoing issues.

That would hold weight if our epicenters weren't in our densest cities.

Taiwan, Hong Kong Germany and Singapore have all done better jobs. Canada has been testing more per 100k until recently. And of course Iceland and Estonia.

To whatever extent the US has mitigated the death toll has a lot to do with individual governors that had to fight against guidance from the feds, which is opposite of how it's rolling out nearly every where else in the world, where the federal gov't is leading the changes. The federal response has been atrocious, but luckily the US has a lot of actors from states to hospitals to philanthropists to companies (props to tech) that acted early to mitigate. I also remember a time where it used to be expected that the US would have the top response, now it's okay if they aren't so long as others also failed. Germany is testing 300k per day. When we don't have our worst states rationing our tests we can talk about how great a job our federal gov't is doing, and the man in charge of it.

China does a lot of bad things. Thise things align with power consolidation and authoritarianism. They act in self interest of the party and building their wealth when it builds power consolidation. Killing many if their own and shutting down their economy does none of that. Just because China does bad things doesn’t mean all bad things are feasible.

I really only liked Veen and Detmers, seems everyone has them out before 11. Then Abel, then Kelley. Masyn Winn in second round still, or alejandro rosario

It's hard because the more urgent thing right now is building up hospital capacity, but at the same time we have to build up areas for self-quarantining away from family.

Spring Training Canceled, Season PPD 2 Weeks, IL Gov Recommending May 1st
It is much worse, and this month is going to be horrible for so many. But in the beginning of March we were testing around 2-3k people per day. Now we are around 110k, and about to deploy at least 50k a day from abbot labs that are rapid tests and compatible at most hospitals on site. If by the end of april we are at 300k/day, and by end of may it may be at the production level where tests can be administered at a wide enough basis that things like sports could be conducted due to their ability to test asymptomatic people daily. We'll just have to wait tos ee how it plays out.

2019-2020 Official NBA Thread
I watched the Bulls Knicks game from 96. Due to age, definitely remember 97/98 more than the 96 series'. One thought: the knicks were the least entertaining form of basketball I've ever seen. And despite the very different form of basketball, it's hard not to see some tendencies of watching Michael/Scottie/Rodman on the court and not think they would have actually been perfect for the small-ball positionless basketball. Rodman particularly could cover everyone and was perfect at taking the ball and pushing it just like Draymond. Having three dudes 6'6-6'8, all defensively stellar and strong, all could push it up the floor, man they were something. If anything I appreciate Pippen so much more watching him over again. It's one thing to know he was good, but I couldn't tell you what it was like to watch him play the way I remember Jordan. Last thought: holy CRAP these teams were old. There were multiple times that I'm not sure there was a player younger than 30 on the floor. Seeing the Magic series is going to be wild in that respect.
