  1. because he just almost missed a year and came back as a shell of himself. One of the biggest risks left.
  2. The article was pretty good. It pointed out that while the reasons for not liking keuchel was well known, he ranks at the top of the list for command for pitchers in the last three years, and the fact that he can locate his sinker and fastball in the same spots is why his effectiveness could be counted on. An interesting pitcher was also on that list - Alex Wood. I wouldn't get too hung up on his amount...I'm sure he's just compensating for those articles constantly being on the under for FA prices this year.

I’m actually with caulfield here. Happ seems more likely than Price to me and has the same logic. Not personally a fan, but I’d also say he has more likelihood of producing next year than most of the garbage on the FA market.
  4. When was the last time a trade was telegraphed this long before executing? I’m not wasting any energy on this. It was bogus from the jump.
  5. I’m enjoying Heyman just tweeting about players that won’t get traded for the past four hours.
  6. Also he very much would receive a report from boston and run with it despite it being so obscenely one-sided for them because he would only consider boston.
  7. definitely would be intrigued by Walker/Salazar, but sox really need at least one guy who could be expected to fill innings. That is Keuchel or Nova, frankly. Wood could be great but I'm not sure money isn't better spent on availability at this point
  8. Probably need a considerable buyout for that to be attractive.
  9. I really don't know, it would depend how confident they are in someone else. I suppose the one benefit is if he can't pitch he likely can't play and you are getting at least 70% of that deal on insurance, and we don't have lux tax concerns.
  10. I think the team that goes 4 years for Ryu probably gets him...and that's a big decision.
  11. It's like clockwork. This was truly Boylen's worst game however.
  12. Right. If Miley signs three weeks ago we don't blink an eye, but at this point the available options require sox execute perfectly when they are going against multiple teams for the remaining acceptable guys.
  13. Yikes, you are going to be upset when you look up the WAR of the players you listed.
  14. Nova was a much, much better pitcher than Covey or Fulmer last year, but you’d rather have watched some of the worst pitchers in baseball make up Novas 190 IP last year because you get that much satisfaction out of the white Sox having another 8 million in their pockets?
  15. Well to be fair he’s not saying what teams are interested he’s saying what teams need starters.
  16. I’m not a big yearsbug but yeah do not give Ryu 5 years.
  17. Probably the least impactful use of 45 million I can imagine but This is Hahn so you may be right.
  18. Honestly what does it matter what the Sox plans are? They are less accurate than a horoscope.
  19. They are going to be treading in the waters soon of guys that are incredibly risky not just to be bad but of not being available much next year.
  20. Thank god. Hopefully they can get a really great deal.
  21. what The fuck are the Sox doing
  22. We close the mlb forum in the offseason.
  23. Surprised by the amount of interest in Avi by smart teams. Seems they believe he can be consistent now, wish they believed that when we were looking to trade him after 2017.
  24. Name a pitcher that isn't gerrit cole.
