Oh cool, an internal promotion on a team with a hall of fame QB, we've found a great example.

Don't you want it to be successful? When was the last time it ended up working out?

A Realistic Offseason
You'd have to trade for a Nimmo who carries a very low price tag due to injuries/arb status.

He may have played the kick differently from the middle and missed all the same.

Great hitters cover up a lot. Moustakas walk rate drops down to 7% where it was most of his career, then suddenly he's a lot closer to average. Are we glad we spent money on an average hitter? I'd rather they spend money on assets that are hard to acquire (that's where we've had the most success anyway) rather than "spread the money around". If we sign Moustakas because we signed a top pitcher, then fine.

This new game plan only scored 16 points against the Chargers, which is not a good defense. 16 points should not really be expected to win games. While there are some high profile recent QBs struggling along with Mitch, only Baker really has an offense close in talent and coaching consistency. It feels like 2/3s of the Qbs in the league have been from 2016, and he's in the bottom tier in performance, now getting outplayed by Daniel Jones, Gardner Minshew, Kyle Allen, not even just the top guys.

Any team that drafts a rookie QB should do exactly what the bears did (at least in salary terms), it sucks that it didn't work out but you should take advantage of the rookie qb contract.

Yeah you can't do this in isolation. If we could only have one addition and I was asked to choose between Mous or JD I'm choosing JDM, if the additional cost of JDM is causing us to sign Tanner Rourk as our pitching help for some reason then it's Mous. I do like how Mous can start out at 2b and then slide over to DH. The only thing I worry about with Moustakas is when his walk rate dips he may not have the power to make up for it to keep him that much over average. And at the DH spot that's not particularly exciting, this is the Abreu problem anyway.

he's not that young.

What has trubisky done well to remotely believe this? Josh Allen has had more moments the last two years with a worse supporting cast to say "he has potential".

JDM staying in Boston
He's a really difficult trade asset because he has an opt-out next year too, which means teams would treat him as an expiring contract, in addition to knowing boston would likely be shedding costs.

JDM staying in Boston
I edited the post. But regardless, with Mookie at a projected $28 million, if JDM were to opt-in that puts them over the cap even if they drop cashner. They can slash elsewhere. They are around 196 before Martinez decision. With him opting in that puts them at 218, 10 mill over. Maybe they just DFA Jackie Bradley Jr but that leaves them needing to be dead on on their projected arb costs.

that amount is fine for a 3 WAR player, but even then, for Martinez I care about wRC+ more than WAR. I do think he can maintain 135+ for 2 years and hopefully 120+ for a few after that, and I think that there are few players on the market I think can produce that much.

it's never an attractive job to bring in a GM and say " you have to keep the coach"

NFL Thread 2019-2020
It was down to Pace or Ballard and pace surprised won the job. And Ballard is building the team the way I like, lots of picks, lots of FA space. Pace hit on some big players by being aggressive but you see how quickly the window closes in the NFL and you need depth so much more than being top heavy.

He may have a late career surge like Smoak but he’s been so injured and not that good when not injured.

2020 White Sox Team Builder
Quite frankly Goldschmidt's return was mediocre it just ended up well. The benefit in those players was they could play right away, but both were coming off bad years (not unlike cease) In moving betts, they'll try to get the best return possible. I don't know that this will be that, but even in moving superstars, we have not seen teams depart with big packages for expiring deals even since I guess Chapman. I have no idea how boston would value Cease, they may hate him. But he's at least a bit painful, in addition to a B-/B pitching prospect in Stiever and a B-/C+ in Walker or whomever I proposed. But whomever offers the best prospect is likely to get the trade with boston, and they could risk just keeping Betts and letting him walk but I doubt it.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
This season has put football on the backburner for me. There is just so much turnover in football, the only thread that ties teams together is the QB really. The 2000s having pretty much the same core defense for over a decade made it somewhat more tolerable. But to once again be in the doldrums with trash QB, it makes the games too miserable. Feels like Bears have no way out, like they are the brooklyn nets having just gotten bounced after a meh playoffs and realizing they traded all their picks for 90 year olds. It honestly feels a lot like the raiders. After years of rebuilding, suddenly have a fun promising team full of young players, only to realize the path forward may need to tear it down again. Fun.

He has looked much better finishing in the regular season, as well as playmaking. He definitely does NOT look like a rookie out there.

That’s impressive. I figured the amount of drive would make it as taxing as for basketball. And yeah, burger did ruin this.
