He’s at least 300 pounds there

Love calling a kid sight unseen destined for 1b/DH

And That's a McCann Slam White Sox Winner!

Fun game, sucks when it’s just a series of mlb game day text alerts but some good vids to watch -
call the game now.

I believe this was Flores first game back? He pitched really well in Birmingham, 5 IP, 6 ks, 2 ERs
-
ha, that's great. Usually when it's an error driven run it usually just says "2 runs score", that it still said sac bunt made it super confusing.
-
lol can someone explain my phone update saying 2 runs just scored on a sac bunt?

Abreu “as valuable as anything” to Sox: Merkin
bmags replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Would you rather acquire brandon belt for players + a 2 year, 34 million dollar deal to get back a slightly better OPS+, or would you just re-sign abreu for a likely discounted deal. If we are going to replace Abreu let's get on with it then. -

I mean the best options include converting players like castellanos to flex outfield/1b/dh roles or grandal to C/DH. Yonder Alonso may be signable this offseason IMO edit: lol sorry was not advocating moving Grandal to OF. -

you've never read this. -
Bailey has played some CF at least. I think repeating DSL should raise some skepticism with Laureano, especially when so much of that class graduated to AZL.

Ty Cobb averaged 5 homers a year over 24 years. Pebbly Jack Glasscock only averaged 1.6 homers over 17 years. You gonna tell me homers are all that matter! PSSH PSOSH
-
You are right, if someone was is born in 2000, and their birthday is in october, that makes them 18 turning 19. Good ole math. Still, the lack of an AZL 2 squad in a year they actually drafted HSers has made some log jams for some nice years in DSL. Look forward to him coming stateside next year.
-
Laureano homer. OPS now near 1.000 for year, he's also nearly 20 (turns 20 in october). Hard to know what sox think of this guy. Yolbert giving us the ole Yolbert 0-2. DSL slash 244/.334/.346 Last year of Cuba slash: .260 / .297 /. 302 I am yearnin for yolbert.

Re: Sheets, I am pleased that he has played his way into being a reasonable asset. I'm still not that excited by him as a prospect to the point where I think he is a legitimate option as a starting 1b. It's really crazy to go look at even starting 1b and checking out their minor league stats. There will obviously be outliers, but they usually destroyed the ball, not just played slightly above average offensively. Like Lucas Duda was in the 150/160 wRC+ zone before being called up. Now, that said, there are players like Christian Walker who have become late in career pretty good offensive 1b and were up and down moving up. And Josh Bell's minor league iso's weren't that great, albeit he was younger but not that much younger by time he was in AA. So anyway, I'm still in wait and see mode, but mainly just hope he's used as a trade asset for major league upgrades.

little bit of late season fade from the HS and younger guys, still very happy with their first seasons.
-
I wouldn’t bother with this now but getting ahead of a Castillo DFa was the right call, swihart still didn’t figure it out, it’s yermin time, then Collins.
-
Sosa is really doing a nice job lately. Up around .250/.650 as a 19 year old in a tough hitting environment, pretty pleased personally. Also didn’t notice Osik was moved up to Kanny.

Gleybar Torres has 13 HRs against the Orioles this season.

Looks like perfect weather

Good stuff, I actually agree with keeping him in AZ over Great Falls to stay with the coaching/facilities. If they thought he was good enough for a jump to A ball next year it's one thing, but if he proves he's good enough for pioneer league early next year you can move him up to single A by July and still have him well on his way. Since we are only one of a few still doing instruct games, hope we can hear more about how he does.

So weird heading into a bears season with expectations again. I really believe in Nagy, so I'd be pretty bummed if there is major regression this year.
-
I watched succession season 1, and I liked it but I didn't really feel like there needed to be any more to the story. It said what needed to be said.

lol was just coming on here to say I started veronica mars out of no where and can't stop watching. I would have never guessed I'd start a show with this many episodes at this point of tv oversaturation, but I have really started to like the change of pace of both the serialization (to a point), along with its smart pop tv sensibilities.
