Frankly that Madrigal line of 3-4 with a BB, a 2b, and 2 SBs is the kinda of stuffed stat sheet I dreamed of when they drafted him. Kinda funny but has Beard stolen a base yet? Seems like he keeps getting picked off and caught stealing.

We don't really have any SS prospects remotely close so that makes sense. If his D is as extraordinary as they say, and his bat is somehow better than very pedestrian Cuban league numbers, then you have a trade piece. And for sox who just appear often very conservative in wanting to get any production out of INTL, I can see them thinking "this is a guy with sure thing ML skill, let's get him instead of 10 projection guys who could have 1 ML skill"

FG had him with red sox for a while in chats, so this probably means it's a done deal (props to @Y2Jimmy0) I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate that this is the execution of this class, but I hope like hell Sanchez turns out to have transformed in the meantime, and rips the ball once he's here. He could be a phenomenal asset.

As always, it will depend. I don't dislike Puig though, I feel pretty good that by the end of the year people will see his stat line more favorably. If we only get puig as our RF solution, that's effed up, but I'd say the same for akiyama.

I wouldn't mind signing puig if it presented itself well in a deal easy to ditch.

2019 Prospect Development Check-in
Another non-top 30 success is Ti'Quan Forbes, who has not hit for any power in Birmingham but has been an OBP machine. His contact is decent but he's 22 in birmingham, has handled the jump well, and maybe he taps into power but he may very well be a nice depth piece or the type of piece that could net a good MR at the deadline next year.

I don't understand why in order to make your position seem more favorable you are trying to act like Machado and/or Harper would be coming at the cost of Anderson or Moncada, when they very much go together. Its because the sox had Anderson and Moncada and kopech and giolito and eloy and robert that using money to acquire additional talent made sense. But you cannot grasp that, so you try to make fun of a caricatured representation of why people wanted Harper/Machado. And if that's not enough you need to provide over the top critiques of how bad Machado and Harper are when they've actually been fine!

Also Harpers defense this year has been a net positive according to fangraphs and neutral according to baseball savant.

I wasn't trying to win the Jerry Reinsdorf Value Awards™ I was hoping the sox were trying to put together a roster that would destroy the AL central.

The $$$$ will be spent!
If I'm getting that undermarket production from multiple other places on the team (like we expected the white sox to do)? Yes. Tim is underpaid, allowing us to pay more elsewhere. That was the point.

The $$$$ will be spent!
That his terrible years still pumped out a .360 obp is why he appealed to me. He definitely has a consistency problem in staying elite with the bat, but he is repping an .800 ops.

The point of people advocating signing for Machado was to remove some of the luck required in the rebuild, however. And much of the criticism is of process, which doesn't mean the outcomes cannot be good. I am very happy with Moncada, Anderson, Eloy and Giolito. You can see my posts post-machado, there was always a way to contention but weirdly enough getting players whose down years get you an .850 OPs and great defense was what I wanted! But the main issues are well documented, but aside from injuries it has been : - Still developing player development operation - Inability to convert more depth from international scouting operation - Inability to convert more depth from rounds 3-10 in draft - Consistently signing free agents that then produce the worst year of their careers. Regardless of whether the free agents are supposed to be "part of the core", signing free agents during our competing years of 2014-16 proved to be an awful mark on Hahns tenure, and he has not gotten better. And I do not want to hear about McCann, I'm as happy as ever on signing him, but every GM in the game has a McCann that has been around longer than 2 years. When we started the rebuild, the expectation was we were setting ourselves up for consistent contention. Trading away three great, cost controlled players for prospects and multiple top ten picks should net us great prospects and a competitive team. It's fair for people to judge whether their process is consistent with other organizations who are putting together consistently excellent teams.

I'm glad a decade of irrelevance has created the lowest of expectations. "Hey old me, so excited after trading Eaton! In 3 years, the sox will be two games below .500 in June, 12.5 games out of a resurgent twins and many of your top prospects will be injured, some so badly they won't have careers!! How friggen awesome is this?!"

Yeah that's pretty typical. It was hard to even get info on Sosa for a while and he was stateside. For now, just hope he keeps producing. His size and power relative to DSL is nice, so you just kinda follow it like a video game sim.

Have the White Sox ever started worse pitchers?
You know it's bad when you miss Dylan Axelrod.
