  1. I don't think you need that much lead time to print stuff. For instance, the tribune prints a bunch of newspapers for delivery at 5 am starting at 1145 the night before.
  2. And honestly I agree with Heyman (surprise! I agree with someone who confirms my desired outcome) The shedding of salary from the Dodgers has been marginal. In a trade where they shed salary and outfielders (cincy) it was largely a wash that they ended up largely buying prospects. They have paid for a new reliever. If anything this is just clearing out a glut that may have been requested by Dave Roberts that it was too hard to manage that many major leaguers. None of the salaries discussed provide gigantic flexibility.
  3. Surprised this didn't generate much more chatter. Was much more pessimistic on the Dodgers stuff.
  4. He's also in his last year of Arb though isn't he?
  5. They would need to value this person more than their own players just off the 40 man so it's clear they still have some liking for the players in AAA left off.
  6. okay this pisses me off edit: whoa, sorry, I thought rangers traded off their rule 5 pick for a comp balance pick. THat was not the case!
  7. Come on this is taking it too far. THey have option to just not take a player. They are instead taking advantage of position to get something out of it. They've had pretty good success with the minor league rule 5, but the major league one requires a spot they may not want to guarantee with all the youth coming up.
  8. It's okay. Clearly with sox stash of players in AAA they don't want to be hamstrung with really a 24 man roster, so they are using their position for cash at this point.
  9. If that's the cost of a comp balance pick i hope we buy some, esp if we are to lose our 2nd rounders.
  10. I think they they think encarnacion is a better trade chip but...they just acquired him for a worse player just because he was slightly cheaper.
  11. I guarantee it's just this guy and maybe we get cash or some very very minor prospect. But i'd bet on just cash.
  12. I'm confused why a 3 way deal needed to happen here.
  13. Is that what we did last year? I think we traded our guy to a different team.
  14. Bob is reporting things that may be literally true but still misleading, or and hahn could be doing the same. Both have too much deniability for my liking.
  15. It may very well be a matter of language, and I agree a real offer isn't sent over without prior discussions, it's just hard to know what the line that "not permitted to negotiate a contract" means, where is the line on that? Just not allowed to actually send initial one, or components at all are off limits?
  16. BTW We keep reading about how the phillies will blow other teams away with their offers for players and then it keeps...not happening. Is this a sign that they intend to do that for just these guys, or is this boy cried wolf?
