This is why I don't understand why you are against signing a Grandal which makes it much more likely he can develop.- Jackie Bradley Jr

What if Grandal allows Collins to season in AAA and refine his catching skills full time before showing he can take over, and then we accommodate him by creating a spot on the roster.- Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside

I don't think it does mean that.- White Sox take in Tulo workout

don't count your chickens before they hatch. Castillo is gone after next year, who knows what Seby is.- White Sox take in Tulo workout

We could also just sign Grandal and then trade him when Collins proves he is ready and then we don't have to deal with a struggling catcher during a time we all hope we are competitive, and if his bat is too good to keep down he can DH and sparingly play catcher.- Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside

I was beginning to feel optimistic that things could be pulled off in July. But hiring a coach specifically to punish the players before the offseason where you will be recruiting the best players in the world was the most incredibly stupid move I've ever seen. The bulls, unfortunately, have done circus before. But this is a circus, and it needs to end. Please, Doug Collins, you are my only hope.- Official 2018-19 NFL Thread
It will probably end up being good for him. I'm shocked at how bad Cousins has been but you are right, the oline has been a huge culprit. I wouldn't say JD has been good but I still think he's talented and will prove it elsewhere.- Realmuto to the Phillies - Sanchez/Alfaro+ to Marlins

So, I guess I'm trying to still figure this out NYM get Realmuto NYY get Thor FLA gets andujar On it's face that is not enough for any team except NYY. How much are they supplementing this. It seems the mets would be ones empty handed.- Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside

As you said, it doesn't really bother me. It's the opportunity to buy a young, very productive bat, which comes with a price. It is possible by underpaying, HOPEFULLY, young cost controlled, productive players across much of the rest of the team. It's the total budget that should matter, and having a proven bat allows us to use surplus to get additional cost controlled talent at points we need it, or whatever we need.- Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside

I really like that. No reason league can't just provide supplementary picks for competitive balance (due to fa loss). My complaints here are merely from an entertainment perspective, and this totally accomplishes that.- Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside
Here's my variation of this argument (to which I agree with you), I'm worried that hitting on the 2018 class was a big part of their plan. If they strike out, I'm worried that they haven't made up for it by finding enough talent in latam or the draft (and to this point I'm comparing them to the padres during the same time). So if a big part of this was using freed up money to buy elite, younger talent, then it will suck if they fail, because it means relying on our farm to create another elite bat. - White Sox looking at Grandal
