  1. Well, I think in their defense, if they think Kluber is going to decline and they can get acceptable production from bullpen/rotational creativity, the trade allows them to not just find another cheap inhouse candidate, but also get bullets to load up for future trades. They are still a pretty good farm all things considered, but they traded away a lot and missed out on WS, gonna be pretty tapped out soon. I don't think this is a white flag at all. They'll probably end up just as good.
  2. This has been the consistent results of my eye test on Jabari. Can’t stand a player that plays like this all. The. Time.
  3. I actually think it's kinda easy. One, do you think the sox have a better chance than the field for either? If so it should be greater than 50% for a player But then if it's sox are favorite, but phillies second favorite, is it 45 to 40? then the rest is only 15% Are sox in a group of evenly distributed odds but a player? probably 25-35%
  4. I never really thought brantley would get that much. I like him though. Surprised he'd be an early signing.
  5. Dang, having to deal with cubs twitter for a weekend may not be worth harper imo.
  6. Hahn is at meetings, but so is Boras. Again I really doubt Harper met with sox today but I wouldn't be surprised if some dialogue has begun and at least scheduling of a presentation like this.
  7. I don't really know many of those names, the names I know I would say are not realistic, I would guess castillo would net an 11-20 prospect and a 30-50 prospect in a system like the mets.
  8. I changed too and basically it's over believing I'd rather take the better bat. Machado's formula is good-to-great bat + good to great defense + high valuable position. That's amazing and he's a great player. But for a 10 year contract, things like the hits and xbh he may get from speed may diminish, and his lower % of walks makes me nervous that he could become just a slightly above average offensive player in some years. Harper's plus obp means he's going to be a good bat every year, with years of being an amazing bat. Not that machado can't grow in power too and have a sensational year. And the argument is there that in average harper years you get no to negative defensive value while in average Machado years you get plus defensive value in a better position, but i just really want to make sure i'm getting an elite bat with $350 million.
  9. Haven't heard giants. But never ruling LAD/NYY out for any big signing. ATL? AZ? Cubs, sox,
  10. Manny would be an idiot to rule out a bidder so early. Reality is this is all speculation, and fun speculation, but we have no idea if this was even a white sox thing at this point.
  11. It's hard to wrap you head around people surviving the las vegas shooting and then dealing with this a year later.
  12. You really can't put blakeney on the floor if you want other guys to get shots. He knows it's his only route to staying in league. I'm not even sure that Parker is better than Blakeney to be honest.
  13. Ha I thought this tweet was from futuresox's rob.
  14. That is an open letter from Boras to the phillies.
  15. Pitches are a nice way of saying "we are serious and care about you" right before throwing out a number well below what the player is asking for as part of a natural negotiating process. They are also kinda cheesy and all similar. If Jerry wanted to impress him they should show a video of beards and long hair superimposed on all white sox as a way to show we mean business.
  16. I would like to trade wellington.
  17. I agree with DA and others that it's likely this was just for filming.
  18. You don't sign Patrick Corbin just because you think he's an influencer. You sign him because you need him to be good. This team isn't a manny machado away from competing. This is how you end up with Carlos Boozer, and groin punch to the ref aside, could have done without Carlos Boozer.
  19. This is one of those things where it’s hard not to recognize that our free agent acquisitions have been garbage under Hahn, and now they are targeting one of the riskier free agents. If he signs this guy and he ends up regressing to a 4.5 era pitcher, you can’t keep him on for rest of rebuild.
  20. And shaheen right? I'm excited about him this year. Read that he was supposed to be a big part of offense before his injury.
  21. Feels like the last player that cared about this was Melo.
