  1. NFC North has been tough. The bad years where a 9-7 team gets it has mostly been due to injuries.
  2. This is reductive but I want to repeat that it's important for the rebuild that whomever Hahn signs this year turns out to be good (or what was expected) and healthy, because his run in the free agent market has been terrible. We talk a lot about whether Renteria is the manager that can get the team to the playoffs, well, the same can apply to Hahn. Not every GM can be good at both teardowns, rebuilds and contenders.
  3. Whoa whoa, sorry, I was not saying 8th seed in playoffs, I was talking about drafting 8th.
  4. I think most contracts here are off by 10 mill here and there, but last year the estimates that players would get were also way off on the high side, so you never know. Will probably be a mixed bag.
  5. Lol i love this. those are my moves I most agree with, though I don’t really feel like trading for Herrera. one, I think Sox are at point their rotation needs to be a competition. Not this “oh hey it’s fine you are the worst pitcher in league” for another season. Make me feel the footsteps (which is now only Cease).
  6. Which is next year but yeah, it’s risky to assume they will be on market but feasting after the big hunt this year could pay off.

    2018 catch-all

Before I had kids I legit forgot about the concept of a stomach flu. that is one thing I truly miss above all else.
  8. For me, I can't get into this stuff until i have an idea of actual placement in lotto. Season is too long and it just doesn't feel like we'll be at good odds at all. I think bulls still could be something like 8-9 seed.
  9. I kinda see it differently. He works his butt off making the offense work for everyone else, and then when he gets the ball everyone just stops moving and expects him to work a post move. He needs more variety of touches. His motor is great. I'm not worried at all. He'd probably be better served running some time with Arcidiacano.
  10. I think one thing that is interesting about mail-based issues like this is how hard they are to track down. Anthrax-culprit was never found. Unabomber took years. A mail bomb to a judge in alabama i think was never found. The austin one I believe was different in that he delivered them himself (?). So at this point you have to wonder if a calculation is that while it's low chance of success, it is a low chance of getting caught. Don't know how to solve it, but scary how successful in avoiding consequences mail terrorism has been.
  11. Yes to carter capps! His delivery is clearly illegal but I enjoy players that infuriate other fanbases for obvious but also innocent reasons (as opposed to, like, if he hits players in the head with fastballs consistently). Also capps seems snakebit and I doubt he pitches more than 20 innings before an injury.
  12. I still love WCJ, however, do you know how through the roof excited I would be if the Bulls had Lavine, Lauri, and traded up for Doncic? All three have ability to run an offensive unit so you could stagger lineups to improve defense. Had the Hutchinson pick + top 5 next year pick done it, I would not be missing a 6-whatever next year pick at all. That lineup would be incredibly attractive to future FAs. Anyway, in the actual set-up whether the bulls succeed with this group is incredibly focused on health. I wish the bulls put more emphasis on that as an organization.
  13. I think sox should allow Davidson to entertain it. Writing is on the wall for him, he both improved quite a bit and also not enough to see him as a piece. However, his pitches look good. Renteria ruling it out looks bad imo. If you only let this guy hit you may be eliminating a shot for him to stay on an mlb roster. What exactly do the white sox have to lose by letting him pitch this offseason? They have to work harder to evaluate?
  14. The last two games have both been fun. Though we lost dunn two nights ago and maybe lost portis tonight. The Hutchinson dunk was vicious. I missed good chunk of game but the last 5 minutes were fun.
  15. I think what I would do is effectively run all ball handling through Lavine and try to find a better defender (shaq harrison?) at the 1.
  16. They should play valentine at the point. He'd get more playing time and there are no better options.
  17. I guess it happened in 2nd quarter but he played through it. Guess our medical staff is top notch. I get that tank is good but cam payne is one of the most offensive basketball players i've ever watched. This sucks.
  18. I feel like we have already seen crypto get hammered in sync with the market, it has not been inverse such as commodities.
  19. They have a 19 year old trying to cover everyones mistakes and he's really not doing that bad of a job. He definitely needs some more muscle though. Hutch really did look fine, especially on doncic, it would be very helpful if he could be a rotation player.
  20. Couple thoughts from last nights game: - Doncic is wonderful. Complete command of the floor, though doing it against bulls isn't particularly difficult. S - WCJ is doing yeoman's work making a lot of things happen. He sets some beautiful screens and is incredibly selfless. - Lopez on other hand has been playing really dumb basketball. I loved how professional he was last year but it looks like he lost a lot this offseason. It's one of the reasons I felt bad about the tank last year, you only get so many years of your life you can be an NBA player. - Kris Dunn was probably exhausted and it's his first game back, but this year he has to cut down on his turnovers if he wants to be effective. - Arcidiacano over payne (just a reminder we cut spencer dinwiddie and he looks pretty good) - I just hate the roster construction on this team. I don't care if we aren't supposed to be a playoff team this year. Players like Holliday and Blakeney being the bench pieces on this team while discarding Nwaba just makes no sense. THere is zero second look. You have a pupu platter of black hole offensive players combined with terrible defense. What else was there to learn about justin holliday you did not already know? - The bulls have to do more offball movement when their forwards post up, considering who they have as their forwards. - Hutchinson has his first "well, okay!" game. Would much rather have a reserve unit of arcidiacano, hutch, nwaba, parker/portis, lopez than payne, holliday/hutch/blakeney, parker/portis, lopez. (neither are good) - Lavine certain is playing well. He is getting fouls, he is making smart shots. I just hate this roster construction and I think it's hard for him to learn team defense when you surround him with more defensively bad bad bad players.
  21. Should be illegal to sign guys before WS is over. Need to spread out baseball news.
  22. It turned out the reason the deal fell through was he failed a drug test for PEDs. Shocker right?!
  23. I would say the fact that he was still unsigned at this juncture of the signing period and had no fanfare compared to bloodline players like Tejada Jr is a good indication that he is not well thought of. But, 17 year olds can have weird growth spurts and it does no harm.
  24. I don't even particularly like using a 1st round pick to draft a WR, but if I do it better be Antonio Brown.
