  1. But also I just want to say that I love Eloy and am so pumped. You know that feeling we had when thomas or magglio was up in a big situation and you knew the pitcher was more scared than we were of the pitcher? I miss that.
  2. I wouldn't have cared too much had they done it a month ago. Doing it now? Would be an indicator of a management team again flying by the seat of its pants and not executing based on a plan.
  3. This is too flip of an analogy, but imagine being the owner of the white sox and being able to go downstairs and hear the scouting reports and decisions being made by the team and instead getting all of your information from like Harold Reynolds (and then demanding the team adjust based off of that analysis).

It has felt like one of the things that increases in birmingham negatively (and has been an indicator of struggles in charlotte) is walks, as they face better hitters. That hasn't happened. Feels like the only thing that will hold Cease back is endurance building.
  5. I'm not sure why you are saying "doesn't get it". I do get the thinking, I don't find it convincing. Bummer and Frare can force their way onto the team by dominating AAA. We can find room because our bullpen is very bad now! I hope Frare will be dominant, but he has 10 innings in AAA. I see no reason to make big league spots for those guys, we can certainly make a bunch of 40 room at the end of the season cutting more fat. Do any of you believe the sox aren't going to sign a vet bullpen arm in the offseason?
  6. Yeah, I get it. But to be quite honest I'd value Avilan in the pen next year more than the guy they acquired. This was the most valuable fat they had and they got a soon to be 23 year old starting pitcher in high-a with fringe stuff. It's not a big deal, but I just don't see a reason to align with GM think on this and be like " oh thank god we saved jerry reinsdorf 300k! PHEee-EWWW"
  7. Are you telling me the only player blocking younger pitchers on this roster was luis avilan?
  8. It's crazy how the slow drip allows folks to move the goal posts. I remember when the very idea that Russia was behind the hacking of dnc and podesta emails was sour grapes of dems. Now anything short of the president himself ordering the hacking is beside the point. I also remember when it was expected that the president not bring into the executive branch people that have committed crimes, and especially concerning when they were happening while in office. And when those activities benefited the president him/herself? It would be a very big deal! Now, again, unless the president personally took funds and put them in a burlap sack to pay off to another lawyer, it is apparently very tiresome for "the electorate" to have to hear about. I get that it can be tiresome to constantly have to deal with the steady stream misdeeds of the trump administration, from very minor to very severe. But the idea that pointing out the misdeeds is something more punishable than this onslaught of daily corruption is really a tough sell to me. It's probably an extension of the idea that the only punishment can happen through elections, and any criminal actions performed by government officials should just be decided by them being voted out or voted in.
  9. Not gonna lie I think this move is stupid.
  10. I've been out of loop a bit last few weeks, so, I am half expecting someone to tell me: - Hamilton is already up - Hamilton is injured - Hamilton actually sucks now So I am excited!
  11. Totally bizarre to me that he's up before Hamilton.
  12. I've said it before but a silver lining even if those created this culture of corruption do not get punished for it is the idea that more white collar crime such as tax evasion and FARA violations being enforced. I think it will end up being the same rallying cry that pork barrel spending was.
  13. Absolutely true, and so easy to predict. I'm sure on this forum there are plenty of posts when Trump hired Manafort about how sleezy and corrupt the guy was. The fact that apparently his lobbying and certain money laundering for abusive foreign governments is not what has him in jail is surprising to me, but people like these are always smart enough to know they should cover up their money but never smart enough to do it perfectly when the bright lights are on them.
  14. It's rough, I'll never get rid of my trib subscription because their metro reporters do great work, but while I would have been p'd off about this in early 00s, now I just feel sad. Paul Sullivan writes like 60% of ever paper. They are stretched so thin. The Athletic was well staffed last night, and I thought Jon Greenberg's column was perfect on it. https://theathletic.com/483971/2018/08/22/it-was-a-long-time-coming-michael-kopech-debuts-before-his-family-and-23000-or-so-new-friends/
  15. Why is Rosario acting like he didn't just swing at that pitch?
  16. HELL YEAH thank god Buxton wasn't back there.
  17. brilliant, send him back down, clock never started.
  18. That was when I thought it was starting at 830. An hour delay is really pushing it.
  19. let's ask the people who paid money to go to the game.
  20. You also can't put more obstacles in this game than CB Bucknor and rain. Just give me a 10 pitch inning or something.
  21. Thanks. I guess what I struggle with is all 3 seem like regression candidates. I believe in Howard as a Bears fan, and he is best running out of shotgun and he's going to be put in that position more. But what if things are so spread out that his usage dips way down? But you are right in that the lower picks being lost are guarded more against regression than with Hunt.
  22. and RNC deputy director.
  23. I mean he's from New Jersey so he may well want to go closer to home.
