Promotions/Releases/Demotions of Sox System
I've seen Zack THompson when he's "on" and you think this guy is gonna figure it out. Hopeful that from the bullpen he could find some run in the big leagues. He is quite tall.

You just never know. The teams in the top 5 are not the typical teams and aren't in the typical spots that top 5 teams are, the motivations are a bit different. Only in the last 5-7 years where the top 5 teams highly valued the draft capital did trading up seem impossible, happened a lot in the 00-10s. Could see a return to previous era.

One thing I"ll say about getting the 4 pick, is in my estimation due to the team holding it and their motivations, the #4 pick may be cheaper than a typical #4 any other year, and I think if you put a dollar amount on it there is quite a bit of leeway past $22 mill that it would go if it was straight up sold. Giving up #22, lottery protected 2019 pick, taking on parsons...I think you do that.

Trae could end up being a chucker, I do not think he will. He will probably be bad at defense (so will MPJ, especially if forced to the 3). He averaged almost 9 assists, he pushed the pace of that team to top 15 when it was projected to be top 80. IMO, he will shoot better than he has with shot selection being honed at the NBA level. And some of his strengths like a quick release, if accurate, make a deadly duo with Markannen. On PnR, they'd have to play Young up, making switches likely and Markannen would take on a guard on their way to the hoop. Players like Nwaba who run the court so well would thrive. Players like Lavine? Tough, but they don't need to figure everything out for 2018-19 season. I still like Young a lot and think he's an example of too much counter-hype. And tbh if we can find a ben gordon at 7 that's not that bad. That comp isn't much worse than a lot of what you'll get for Wendall Carter, useful role player for 10+ year career that makes a lot of money but isn't the driving force for success. Maybe he's demare carroll! Great! That's a tossup imo.

When a college draftee has a season ending injury it really downgrades them (for me). They'll basically be age appropriate or more for every year and it's hard to tell.

CWS Games of Drafted Prospects
did those that watched the game last night think that double that cleared the bases in the third by UNC was fair or foul?

I personally think Young would finally make Fred's system make sense. He'll push pace, his passing is completely underrated, and all of our point guards are already high usage, terrible shooting point guards so I think it would make a big difference.

6/20 Games- KOPECH NIGHT!!
Luis Mieses has a double and a triple last night to add to his homer in game one. camilo Quintero has like 100 hits so far. At 21 nice to see.

6/20 Games- KOPECH NIGHT!!
Ha, it's a small sample but the k-rate during that time is nuts and that .140 iso is, from what I remember last year when I looked it up, I would grade as averageish power. Home runs don't seem to happen often but a nice amount of doubles is a thumbs up from me.

Sox @ Cleveland, 6/20, 12:10 CT
Right we certainly need that but their run of great looking pitching in 2016 was both serially injured, or faced setbacks to their development. We are seeing both but we do not have a Nola right now.

I just keep looking at last years Phillies, who thought they were gradually ascending and then had a horrendous first half. They had a nice second half powered by Hoskins and then now are a competitive team.

No, I agree at 7 it's worth the risk.

6/20 Games- KOPECH NIGHT!!
Jose Rodriguez back to his BA self with a 3-4 day with 2 doubles. Slashing .355/.365./.500 with only a 6% k rate.

I think it's a possibility but also risky. He could have played the season at Mizzou, the doctors said he could rehab through the pain, instead he took back surgery to be fixed and then he "plays injured" to get to Bulls? I'm personally nervous about that. He seems like a nice kid and I hope he is awesome but there are some flags on this pick.

"Would you consider sitting out your whole career?" "If my agent says that's not really in my hands"

As someone that's had to deal up close with MPJ for about a year, I'd be glad to get him but not gonna lie I do have severe worries that he's soft and would never play through pain.

Funny but I've read the one lock to go top three is Jackson.

Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson
Farmer sounded pretty rough in spring training but better once the season started, but I really wondered if he'd get through the year when I saw him at Soxfest plus this first few games this season.

Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson
Farmer and DJ are hilarious. The criticism of the broadcast booths are boring. If you made a frankenstein of all the things soxtalk critics said they wanted it would be the most terrible announcer. All you want is someone that flatters your super baseball intellects. "It's the top of the seventh, and ground ball to the right side BobBbled for a hit? That should be an error and yes he should definitely be cut and he is terrible they should just drag him off the field right now. Just garbage trash, no, NO color commentary man, you may not speak as I am not allowed to ask questions to clue you in on when to provide additional color."

Depends on how the bulls scout who is available at 4 (*shudders*). If they think "their guy" is there, one that is special across drafts, then you do it. Asik rolls off salary next year with a $3 mill buyout. You could trade off Lavine's salary to either get relief or trade exception to acquire an expensive good player. But, we'll see.

I feel like my aversion to Carter will burn me but I just can't get excited about a pick like that. Certainly could be a super valuable piece of a team but would be okay shooting for stars with Knox instead of him.

Immigration thread
The Obama admin followed the law and enforced the law. The Appeals court said that children could not be held in indefinite detention but made no requirement of their mothers or adults. They held them for 21 days together and released them until their asylum case would be heard. As a reminder, from President Trump, Obama was called "Deporter in Chief".

Immigration thread
To apply for asylum this is the way you have to go to a port of entry or be in the US. These cases went explicitly to the port of entry and this is how the us is "deterring" them.
