  1. He is not an out of box power hitter.
  2. My take: probably a way less big of a deal when they have a batting eye that can layoff high fastballs. His incredible eye means he can either wait for a good pitch, or if he’s getting worked inside and up, guess that’s what’s coming and load earlier
  3. Man KD sucks. He just got bailed out by a review.
  4. We live in a golden age of information about prospects. Mock drafts aren’t a skill, it’s passing along rumor and constantly changing information to an audience that demands the frivolous exercise. Mock drafts are fun to get an idea of player value. If you want them as a tool to understand who is in the know with certain teams, you’ll be disappointed. Enjoy a free big board of hundreds of scouting video and reports.
  5. He seemingly always has brutal or incredible BABIPs. His average of it is hilarious.
  6. This is the important context. The slot amounts changed with the new CBA. We previously could have taken someone comparable to our slot such as Liberatore, India, Swaggarty etc and got huge savings, much less now.
  7. I would not advocate sox trying to do a massive reach like Schnell in a draft like this, where there is quite a bit of available talent anyway in the top 100. If it was a top heavy draft with 30-40 good players and not a lot of depth, then you try it.
  8. HS guys that thought they'd be top ten or have signability concerns. Hankins, Turang, Adams.
  9. I mean, if I took Schnell, I'm much more likely to give 3.5 mill + out to the second round pick and go after Hankins, Gorman, Turang, or Jordyn Adams with round two. But, as someone else said, the comp teams can easily do that too. I'd much rather just go India/Bohm/Kelenic/Swaggarty
  10. Collins wasn't that big of a surprise, i remember bleacher report having us to them. A little harder at 10 and 11 since they know the board less, but I remember a lot of Corey Ray, Kyle lewis, rutherford, etc. Last year was a ton of JB Bukauskus, Jarren Kendall, Faedo, etc. and I don't remember Burger ever there.
  11. I'd feel a wee bit more confident with Bohm if Sheets had already started to tap into his power.

I would promote Seby first. The Fegan article made clear that Collins has time left at catcher. Better to give him coaching consistency at AA all year.
  13. That's not bad but you'd have to straight up release Asik or faried.
  14. I'm not guaranteeing they won't draft Singer, but last year the 2017 draft thread was complaining about how Jared Kendall was just a continuation of Kenny's infatuation with no-hit athletes, and they wen't with a very much anti-no-hit-athlete. There is no information to assume that the white sox are actually going with singer, so getting upset prematurely is just that.
  15. And if he turns out to to be able to have + positional versatility, that would mean we could buy a plus 3b or elsewhere and constantly move him around, allowing rest/depth without losing production.

Weird, not sure why it's not embedding it for you.
  17. Reading through the scouting reports on the board and BA's list yesterday, "high floor" has got to be the theme of the draft. Even guys people are holding up as players we should draft instead of the high floor guys have high floor labels on them. If anything sounds like if you don't want that you go Gorman or Swaggerty, not India.
  18. Both the swaggarty writeups from BA and Fangraphs are very complimentary, regardless of him being 11 and 4. I posted his BA one earlier. I don't particularly want Singer, but the "He'll only be a #3!", again I remember the same stuff about Aaron Nola and he is the only one of all of that pitching in the top 10 that year to pitch close to a #1.
  19. Morning comment storm but the Swaggarty write-up in BA is much more positive than I expected for 11.
  20. We might draft singer but I'd stress that there is nothing that we know that indicates who we will draft, especially and including the comments from the scouting director and scuttlebutt rumors.
  21. I mean there is a chance it's not his actual medicals and the fact that detroits system is very pitching heavy and they may just want a safer user of the #1 pick than a pitcher.
  22. One other interesting thing in that interview I thought. There seems to be a view that the scout writers boards are more volatile than the draft boards of the industry. I didn't get that from Hostetler. He talked about how the performances even this weekend would be a factor, and they were still ordering their top 7. I still put it as pretty likely that day of the draft we'll hear that Mize is not #1.
  23. Woj just tweeted the sixers are running a probe into this.
  24. Who he talked about in the podcast was almost exclusively driven by Chuck Garfein, with the exception I believe of him bringing up the U of I guy out of the blue. It was clear early on that Garfein had drilled down to two players, so that's why he seemed to say "there are more". He also said they hadn't ordered their top 7 yet, he heard from all of their scouts but he hadn't set it.
  25. I am interested to hear sox view on carter stewart. They have seemed to be big on trackman schools in college (I seem to recall Burger and Sheets both being good exit velo players), and he is the trackman darling of pitchers. But he's a high school RHP.
