QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) I don't think so. I think you are overreading. That said, KW can't be happy with the portrayal of him in Moneyball. While Beane obviously didn't write the book, you must assume that a characterization of Williams would have come from things Beane said about him. KW>Beane. That is all.

Brian Anderson isn't going to be the 4th outfielder, I'm just going to say that for now. I'll post what some ideas within the next few days.

QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) I'm suprised, I was certain the idiots would pick the 04 Red Sox over us. This isn't the poll that you're thinking of from espn. He just calculated the winning percentages from the regular and post seasons. Pretty impressive there, this team was special, period.

Ok, off the top of my head: Opening day game number 2 on the season buehrle game vs the mariners timo walkoff after bullpen debacle and tad error arow homer off hoffman aj walkoff against dodgers juan defensive gem, frank extra inning game winning homer juan triple off rivera, scott gets him home, barely joe joe walkoff against the tribe clincher

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) Garlands starts against the Orioles and Rangers.... they were in that order.... in both games he threw a devastating change up in a clutch time for the K... 1 to Tejada other to Soriano. Than the royals game when Marte got that last out at the plate. That wasn't the last out for the record, it was the bottom of the 9th in a tie game and that saved the winning run from coming in. We then won in extras.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) When was the last time you went to class? I'd say you have bigger problems than I do. My grades are fine thank you very much. You don't need to go to class to get good grades. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Must you always be the center of attention? You always have to butt in, mind your own damn business. Now you should have thought of that when you butted in during mine and willie's argument. :headshake -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) No. Selig delayed Palmeiro's suspension until he recorded his 3000th hit. It's quite possible he followed similiar procedure to limit all the attention a positive steroid testing would have drawn from the World Series. However, if it is a member of the White Sox, and Selig knew several weeks ago, he'll catch so much critcism for allowing this person to play during the series. This rumor will bug for me awhile. And to answer a post of Fathom's earlier, if anyone from our outfield does test positive I want their ass gone. Good point about Palmeiro and I agree with everything you said. -

Ok, Carrol says he was at the appeals process but in the article it says the appeals process is taking place?? If the appeals process already happened wouldn't our guy have been suspended for the series if it was one of our guys? -
LOL, where the hell is a mod when you need one. I can't believe this thread has been in here this long.

Rumor: AL Playoff OF tests positive for steroids

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Well the odds are in our favor not just in that its 1 in 4 without looking at the players, but you figure that there is a better than average chance that this rumor will not pan out because it seems more often than not that rumors are false. I wouldn't spend a whole heck of a lot of time thinking or worrying about this now. I always worry about things I shouldn't though. So this will be no different unfortunately and this will be stuck in my mind until the player is announced or after a few weeks pass. -

If it's one of our guys it's Aaron. Maybe it's just me hoping but I don't think it's any of our guys. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) We could play our "scrubs" and still win I know Felix is a stud but that sig is still an embarrassment. Just to let you know.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) hmm, my boss wont give me the day off. do i just skip work and hope i don't get canned? Duh.

I'll add another one: how about Juan's defensive gem in detroit the night frank hit an extra inning homer to win it. I'll add more once I'm done with dinner.

QUOTE(Nokona @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Rowand catching the ball in LF when Pods lost it. That's one of my favorite plays of the year as well, kind of symbolized what this team was all about. Game number 2 on the year was a pretty special game as well.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) And there were a lot of people on here who were screaming that it would be the wrong decision to have Pods in CF. The stability that this team had almost all season on the field is remarkable, with only the Frank injury changing the dynamic for more than 15 or so games. No doubt, most of us wanted Aaron to stay in center and thankfully it happened. I was just thinking about that though, what if Scott was the centerfielder all year...eek.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) And if he couldn't kill you, he'd try to eat you. And your children.

Not an underrated play but just something that seemed so little in spring training: how about Aaron being in center when it was talked about that Scotty would be the centerfielder when he was first traded here. I was just thinking about that, how something seemingly so small could have made a huge difference.
