Blah, hard hit ball. 1 down.

I enjoyed that half inning Now, time for Scotty to right himself and start up the offense.
-
I wish Jose would throw more sliders, it's really a plus pitch.

Rooney & Farmer named #1 radio announcers in AL
Rowand44 replied to Dam8610's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't listen to Rooney and Farmer to often because I'm usually either at the games or watching the games but when I do they're a joy to listen to. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 05:36 AM) Ha, doesn't surprise me, if someone made me available via waivers or free agency the yankees might give me a shot. Good luck Shingo, just not against us.

QUOTE(kdhargo @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 07:11 AM) I know it is in retrospect looking back now at the 2000 draft, but after looking at the draft a bit, I had a question pop up that I thought I would ask this knowledge board. The Sox took Borchard at #12 in 2000, with the Phillies taking Utley at #15. We now know today that Utley is the more 'established' MLB-level player, but even w/o such hindsight, why is it that the Sox chose to take Borchard with this pick and not someone like Utley? Utley had better numbers across the board, including power numbers, and he was/is an IF, with Borchard as an OF. So, my question is simple: why did they choose what they did? Wouldn't one have thought that equally (and a bit better) power and average numbers coming from the IF position (Utley) would be more coveted and rarer than from an OF position (Borchard)? Were the Sox that in love with Borchard? I'm sure someone can answer this question better but Borchard had and has all the tools to be a solid major leaguer. Borch has a ton of power potential, good speed, good arm, he's a good defensive outfielder, unfortunately that swing of his has been a little to long and he hasn't been able to put it all together yet. Hopefully he'll figure it out one day whether he's in our organization, the Padres organization or anyone elses.

I think all parties almost have to deny that a deal took place. It would just look bad, imo.

I'm making 1 comment in here and that's it. They're in a funk right now I don't buy the crap that they suck at home because of big crowds that's just bs to me. The Sox haven't been playing that well as of late and good thing we ran into baltimore who's been playing a lot worse. Once we right the ship which will happen soon then everything will fall back into place, on the road and at home.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Though I own probably every product ever produced with Frank's mug on it, and there's a fare amount of it, Frank could never compare to Griffey in that department. Griffey would be a huge draw. It'd be awesome to have 2 of the greatest hitters of the '90s on this team. Not to mention two guys that never touched roids and I'm positive that neither of them have ever used them.
-
*Sigh* Jr would have helped this team so much(duh), I just really wish this deal would have went through.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) Agree. And he should be gone after for perjury also, IMO. This is an interesting point. Is there anyway they'd be able to prove that before the hearing he was on roids? Cause if they can't prove that he was on roids before the hearing then it wouldn't be perjury, correct?

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:32 AM) I've seen the effects first hand (not from using them personally) and I think it's ignorant to say there is anything positive about them when used as pro sports players are using them. And yes.. I am bashing someone on this site. Steff, my dad's best friend was a professional fighter. Growing up my dad was trained by this guy and obviously to a lesser extent I was learning as well. I was always in or around a gym where a lot of these guys hang out. I, as well have seen first hand side effects of this crap. People who don't end up with serious side effects from that junk are the exception to the rule, not the rule.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:28 AM) My Attempt: Great job

Ok, I'm sorry but this thread is dumb. I've known plenty of people that have lost their lives due to roids. To think they have no harmful side effects is just f***in dumb, I'm sorry but it is.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) None should be inducted. That begs the question: Should Gaylord Perry have been inducted?
-
He looked good for his 1 inning today, he was nailing the corners. Obviously he earned some respect from his teammates as well, welcome back Jon, keep it up.

Ugh, messing with the top of the order is the worse possible thing to do(and by top of the order I mean 1 and 2). Carl's not the best three hitter in the world and Jermaine probably should be up there but Carl's been clutch as all hell this year and ozzie likes him in that slot.

Post your questions for the FutureSox "experts"!
Rowand44 replied to Heads22's topic in FutureSox Board
Heads, why don't you mention the question that you asked? -
Josh Towers is like the bizarro Jose Conteras, hardly walks guys but get hit around a ton. Hopefully the sox can continue to look great on offense and bring home a W. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 07:32 AM) Don't they usually keep it around 32 to 35..? Last year I believe we only called up three.

This guy deserves to have the s*** beat out of him. Make this asshole suffer, badly.

Polanco's just a good player. Kind of disappointed he'll be in our division for a while.
