  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Chavez + Gload > Crede + Konerko In my opinion anyways, especially if we keep Frank. Oh god, it's not even close in my mind Chavez + Gload>>>>>>Crede and Konerko. I'm a huge fan of Ross and I really believe he can be a starting first baseman. He's great with the leather and though Crede and Konerko are solid gloveman Konerko has no range at first. Not to mention Chavez and Ross can both move on the bases while Pauly and Joe can not.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) We got Chavy, go after his buddy Durazo next season for 1b. Edit, we GET Chavy.... If Chavez were to be added by traded, I really think Ross would be our starting first baseman next season. Wow, so now I've traded for Chavez and made Ross a starting firstbaseman. :headshake
  3. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) ...and he's gone. Funny ass dude. Nice interview, seems nice and relaxed in regards to his slumping. Those seem to be the guys to turn it around. He's a great hitter, he'll get it turned around soon.
  4. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) This all comes down to how confident is Kenny in Chavez's ability to converge back to his expected #s, as opposed to his current #s If we are giving up BMac, Kenny better be darn sure. And if Chavez does not work out and becomes a Albert Belle type contract on us, I better see Kenny fired. Because we all know if a big acquisition does not work out, JR will not spend anything for the next decade citing how that does not work. Ahh yes fire the gm of the best team in baseball, that happens all the time.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) Im saying, that if its only Crede and BMAC, we are raping Beane right there. But its also mutually beneficial, BMAC, as the kind of pitcher he is, would benefit from moving to Oakland from our bandbox. Ya, I agree with this now. At first when I heard this rumor I wanted Bmac to be untouchable and I still want to hold onto him if all possible but if we could get a guy like Chavez you have to go for it.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Adjusted numbers mean nothing to me. Just give me the raw data. Chavez is not worth a $30+ million commitment and giving up some of our top talent. I'm not a fan of adjusted numbers either but Chavez is a stud, period. He's a 30, 100 guy and a gold glover at 3rd base, not to mention a left handed power hitter to throw in the lineup and we'd have him for years to come. I'd absolutely love to get Chavez but it obviously depends on what we have to give up.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) So would Darin Erstad go to the outfield? Sweeney seems like he would displace a couple of players on that roster. I'd assume Sweeney would DH.
  8. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Scouts and other baseball people think the Angels might have recalled first baseman Casey Kotchman to showcase him for potential trades. The player the Angels are most interested in acquiring is the Kansas City Royals' Mike Sweeney, and the Royals could use Kotchman at first base for years at a bargain-basement price. I could really see this happening. That seems to make sense for both teams. The angels could definitely use another bat and a package surrounding Kotchman would make great sense for KC.
  9. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) On what do you base this assertion? Where I live, I get A's/Giants games, and Alou will use three pitchers in one inning based on the matchups. Dusty Baker does the same thing. How can you say Ozzie does it more than any other manager in baseball? I know you can't be following every game and every team. Ok, good point. I should say he does it more then any other manager I know of, mostly al teams since I see much more al games then nl. He's just ridiculous with the matchup game at time, the lefty-lefty thing is the right thing to do at times but definitely not all the time.
  10. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Lefty/lefty isn't bulls***. It's an age old tactic used by every manager, all the time. Ozzie isn't in "love" with the pitcher/batter stategy any more than any other manager. Yes he is, he's in love with the matchup game more then any other manager in baseball. That strategy works sometimes but in a lot of instances it's the wrong thing to do. Just cause a pitcher is left handed doesn't mean he's going to get a left handed hitter out.
  11. Ya, I'm not going to read this whole thread, I'll just add my thoughts. Ozzie is in love with the damn lefty-lefty bulls*** to damn much. If there's lefties coming up it's automatically a lefty coming in, Neal and Damaso have worked a little lately so he brings in Kevin Walker, why? because he's a damn lefty. Absolutely inexcusable mistake, ozzie definitely cost us the game, horrible, horrible managing today.
  12. Sorry about the delay guys. Anyways with Pelfrey and Clement already off the board the Tigers take Ryan Braun
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) It was cold as f***ing hell at the Cell tonight. I don't blame anyone for not going to the game. I froze my balls off for nine innings so that's gotta be worth something. I was actually comfortable wearing shorts and my freddy jersey, I guess I'm just wierd cause my friend sitting next to me was freezing his ass off too.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) Very much so, thank you Edwin Encarnacion. You freakin cheater.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) It was pretty sweet when dye made that diving catch the entire crowd stood and applauded. Great energy today, just too many people drunk and losing they're baseball sense. The beauty about the cell is even when the park isn't filled the energy is always fantastic, unfortunately you always get a few idiots who have had to many.
  16. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Great shot of Dye's swing. That was the first pitch, right? Nah, it was a 1-1 count.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Is the report that he hurt himself on the first AB, correct? If so, hang it up Juan. Running to first in his first ab looked like he pulled a hammy again.
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ May 30, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) I haven't seen a perimiter player playing at the level Wade is playing at since you know who. Ben Gordon
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Ya, barried in Cabrera's stomach. He f***ing sculded that ball. All the f***ing drunks were ready to kill Uribe. Tell me about it, I had guys next to me calling for Damaso's head, people were yelling at him that he sucks. I can't believe he got booed when leaving the field.
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) I'm still pissed at that inning ending double play by Uribe. That ball was actually smoked, to bad it was in the wrong spot.
  21. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Politte was interviewed by Farmer today, and he credits adding a change to lefties for his success. Whatever he's doing, it's working. Going right after the hitters, he's been ahead of the hitters all year and that's been the main reason imo for his success.
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) I just watched the replay of Crede's homer at WhiteSox.com. That was probably his best swing in his career. It was perfect. Tonight he still had the hitch in his back and bringing his hands down, however he got his hands through the zone quick, hopefully he can keep the swing short and sweet.
  23. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Ahh... was just this past off-season that people did not want politte's option picked up let alone be resigned to a new deal. Anyone dare to look at some of the threads and things said about him during ST, I remember it wasn't pretty. Cliff and Damaso should both be used in the 7th and 8th, they've both been very good and both have earned that role imo.
  24. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Actually, the question said nothing about in-game skills. It's a matter of interpretation, not misunderstanding. Good point. It's all in how you interpret the question. If it's how his in game decisions have effected this team well it's a negative but if it's overall managerial presence then it's no doubt a positive effect.
  25. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) That is my thing with all of this. You can question Ozzie's moves all you want to...because he makes boneheaded moves as a manager, but I doubt there is any other manager that has this team at 35-17, when push comes to shove. You're right, if we had a different manager we have a worse record, no doubt in my mind.
